Somehow, missed this video, wow, that's one ill looking dell :o(
Yes, after years of use, somebody would think that my laptops had never been used as I use a usb keyboard and trackball, never really touch the laptop :o)
Came out looking good :o) Never owned a dell laptop, always had hps, but do like them :o) Is it the XPs that was the performance one? If you could get your hands on one of them, that would be interesting to see :o)
I loved the trac point I missed it after NCR took my thinkpad back and replaced it with a DELL laptop. I used it all the time it was a real shame I could not buy it I heard they were all sold in a bulk auction . It a shame when companies do that.
@AlfredRusselWallace I am sorry I should have given a little more info I was working for NCR National Cash Register at the time when ATT bought it and called it ATT-GIS and a few years later was sold back to NCR . I was given a laptop from the first day I went to work for them in the late 80s I was given a dell laptop the a Panasonic touphbook
and was told all the dells were sold in a bulk auction . I am now disabled from that company after I was working on a ATM and hit by a van .
I love the trackpoint! Rather use them instead of a Touchpad. Find them easier to use especially if your computing on the road and got limited space like on a Bus.
I agree with people not knowing about trackpoints. My ThinkPad L512 has one and I have lost count of the number of people that ask what it is when I'm sitting using my laptop!
Oh and I HATE that cursor problem! I had it on my second & third Dell laptops. So annoying. I would have cut the cable if I knew how to take apart the keyboard.
I really liked my thinkpad's trackpoint. Once you get used to it, it's infinitely better than a touchpad, and the next best thing to a mouse in my opinion.
Yeah people who never seen them before go crazy. There was a fellow who ended up staring at the red trackpoint on my thinkpad for a good minute after I came back...
i had a toshiba with a trackpoint, i hated that thing, i had an external mouse with it, and i still prefer external mice with my laptops to this day even with with trackpads now common
@skypedog221 i wouldn't say that is a good deal.. i got a Samsung n310 netbook from craigslist for like 80 bucks and it has 802.11n, 160gb hdd, 1.66 atom cpu, 10.1 screen.. etc... much better than a 12 year old laptop.

Uh, the title of this video is "Dell Inspiron PP01L". Just thought i'd point that out. In the video, that laptop is a Latitude PP01L.

I love having the trackpoint, they're fantastic on thinkpads, but they suck on dells, they tend to drift all over the place after heavy usage.

Thumbs up if you love trackpoints!

I want a external trackpoint!!!!!!! My old broken AST had that but I want one on my touchsmart tx2! And the aforementioned one for my acer desktop!

Why did you call it an Inspiron instead of a Latitude?

Oh, I had a run-in with a similar model a while back. It kept locking up for no apparent reason. Turns out the RAM card in it went bad. Easy fix.

Sorry for posting again, but $150 for a 40GB IDE hard drive? WOW! I remember those days! Now, a 40GB SSD would cost less!
talldude123 1 month ago
Oh, and it turns out yours is the C600, Brandon.
talldude123 1 month ago
@talldude123 It has an XP COA. Too new to be a C600. I had a C600 with a Windows 98SE COA. Maybe a C610 (P3) or C640 (P4)?

I wouldn't mind an old laptop like that one for playing old video games. The newer laptops don't do that as well.
