@Astatine211 From the storm Gudrun in 2005. It wiped out 75million kubikmeter of wood. The total amout of wood in all of sweden, which mostly consists of forest, is 3 billion.
You can only see a small part of this storage in the video, and what's even more mind-boggling, is that all the timber lying here represents around 1-2% of the total amount of trees blown down by that single storm.
All the logs are roughly the same size. I DO NOT want that happening to the US and Canada. Plantation forests are a good idea, but I'd like to save at least our coastal rain forests so our kids don't have to see big trees in pictures.
This is in Sweden after a VERY windy storm a few years ago. The saw mills could not cope with the volume so they stored the timber at an old military base.
They lost millons of trees just like in Germany last January. I understand that all the cleared areas were replanted with new trees as it is one place where they do care about there forests
ok cool I dont think theres very much old growth around here any more its mainly in tree farms now i saw a place where they drained a swampy area just to where they could get the cypress trees which is very prized and then they filled the swamp back up lol like it never happened except the trees where gone
there making a great wall of china only out of wood

ol ok 10-4 didnt know nah i aint a green peace nerd or anything i was just wondering how many acres/hectares you reckon there was lost

I did not think you were a green peace nerd or anything.
They lost several hundred thousand acres something like half of the total tree coverage of Sweden.
