does anyone notice how the yellow vest with black stripes that Douglas where's is the same kind of vest that Anthony Andrews wore in the last scene of the movie version of the Scarlet Pimpernel!!!?!?!?!? COOL!
so inspirational! does anyone know any other musical pieces like this? i'm also looking for the second part to this song where percy is losing his faith and his boys encourage him with a musical piece. does anyone know the name of that song
@spliffizzle It's just "Into the Fire: Reprise" more or less. It's in Act 2. I don't know if it was there for SP 2.0-3.0, but it was for the second national tour. If it's still an issue, I might be able to transcribe it.
I can't imagine Percy from the books referring to his "pampered British ass". That Percy would never seem to apologize in any way for being upperclass nor would he express any guilt whatsoever for being an aristocrat, though he was a perfect gentleman full of "noblesse oblige" and compassion for those in need. That line in the show makes the character seem more likeable, but it just irks me a bit because it doesn't seem in character at all. That said, it's an incredible musical.
Before I die I pray this show comes back to Broadway. It's been my absolute favorite book since 4th grade, and the movie version with Anthony Andrews was superb, but I have yet to see the musical version.
Yeah, that movie was so great. As great as this musical is, don't you feel like they changed the Percy character a bit? I wish he would have been a little more in control of his emotions when singing, smoother, etc... maybe it would haven't been good for the stage... but I just loved the Andrews character... so classic.
I can't make much of an inference, because I have never seen the full musical. In the movie, however, I feel Andrews did a brilliant job capturing Percy's passion, humor, intensity, and stereotypical foppishness. His recitation of "They seek him here..." was brilliant.
@sarip93 I'm with you.. I'm not really that much into bway musicals but for whatever reason I loveeee this song (i have it on my ipod lol) and I've been dying to see this!
Someone PLEASE help me out! Fill in the blank: "Never hold back your ___ for a moment..." I don't know this show (yet) and for the life of me, I can't figure out that lyric!
Yes this was on Rosie. This was her big "endorsement" for the 97-98 season, whereas Titanic was 96-97! Actually tons of talkshow hosts (most notably Lary King, Regis, & Rosie) LOVED the Pimpernel, which is probably why it got to reopen so many times :)!
This is from the Rosie O'Donnell Show. I thought it looked familiar and the very last image is of the audience and that's exactly how hers was laid out. She always promoted the Broadway shows.
Wow. Doug can make even the dinkiest of settings come alive with his energy and passion. I almost wet myself when he said, "If you're going to be sick, now's the time." 10 bucks says that's NO where to be found in the script! Lol. Thanks for sharing! :)
This was for the Rosie O'Donnell show. If you have the entire ep, there's also a backstage tour earlier in the broadcast. I keep meaning to put that up.
AT 2:43 through 2:54 THAT TENOR IS A BEAST IN THE BACKGROUND!!!

They make sure to buff him before every performance. X3

They must've given him a little too much make-up. But then again, he IS supposed to be a fop. :-/
