  • AT 2:43 through 2:54 THAT TENOR IS A BEAST IN THE BACKGROUND!!!

  • does anyone notice how the yellow vest with black stripes that Douglas where's is the same kind of vest that Anthony Andrews wore in the last scene of the movie version of the Scarlet Pimpernel!!!?!?!?!? COOL!

  • Whoa, in the book Sir Percy is described pretty much exactly like this guy(except fro the eyes, they should be blue)

  • so inspirational! does anyone know any other musical pieces like this? i'm also looking for the second part to this song where percy is losing his faith and his boys encourage him with a musical piece. does anyone know the name of that song

  • @spliffizzle It's just "Into the Fire: Reprise" more or less. It's in Act 2. I don't know if it was there for SP 2.0-3.0, but it was for the second national tour. If it's still an issue, I might be able to transcribe it.

  • the beginning staging is pretty stiff.

  • awesome awesome. i hate chauvelin. man, that guy can hold grudges!

  • wish the musical version can be brought onto the silver screen one day

  • douglas sills the voice of Derek from The Swan Princess?

  • @rlswkwhagkejfwkdld The Second Swan Princess. Not the first.

  • I still say Jake did a better job....

  • I wish they would put this musical into the silver screen one day...wish Nora Arnezeder from Paris 36 could be Marguerite :)

  • I LOVE Douglas Sills

  • I can't imagine Percy from the books referring to his "pampered British ass". That Percy would never seem to apologize in any way for being upperclass nor would he express any guilt whatsoever for being an aristocrat, though he was a perfect gentleman full of "noblesse oblige" and compassion for those in need. That line in the show makes the character seem more likeable, but it just irks me a bit because it doesn't seem in character at all. That said, it's an incredible musical.

  • Ah, you speak the words I think.

  • agreed :)

  • Douglas Sills looks a little bit like he's made of porcelain.

  • They make sure to buff him before every performance. X3

  • They must've given him a little too much make-up. But then again, he IS supposed to be a fop. :-/

  • I'm in this show right now....I LOVE IT. I hadn't heard of it until I heard about auditions, but the music is PHENOMENAL!!!

  • Before I die I pray this show comes back to Broadway. It's been my absolute favorite book since 4th grade, and the movie version with Anthony Andrews was superb, but I have yet to see the musical version.

  • Omigod, I hope that your wish comes true!

See you at the revival of the Scarlet Pimpernel one day :)

  • Yeah, that movie was so great. As great as this musical is, don't you feel like they changed the Percy character a bit? I wish he would have been a little more in control of his emotions when singing, smoother, etc... maybe it would haven't been good for the stage... but I just loved the Andrews character... so classic.

  • I can't make much of an inference, because I have never seen the full musical. In the movie, however, I feel Andrews did a brilliant job capturing Percy's passion, humor, intensity, and stereotypical foppishness. His recitation of "They seek him here..." was brilliant.

  • @sarip93 I'm with you.. I'm not really that much into bway musicals but for whatever reason I loveeee this song (i have it on my ipod lol) and I've been dying to see this!

  • Never hold back your step for a moment

  • im am in the play - scarlet pimpernel ( a midle school version.) and boy is it AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    i am a cupid...

it is so awesome (she says again with umph)

    Luvs yaz!!!

  • WildQueennie the word your looking for is step

  • This such a good song. Please Come back to Broadway!

  • Someone PLEASE help me out! Fill in the blank: "Never hold back your ___ for a moment..." I don't know this show (yet) and for the life of me, I can't figure out that lyric!

  • It's 'never hold back your STEP for a moment'. n_n Hope that helps.

  • why does he make it look sooo easy?!

  • This is a difficult song to sing and he does it perfectly! I really like the interpretation/choreography as well. This rocks!

  • This was on Rosie's show.

  • Yes this was on Rosie. This was her big "endorsement" for the 97-98 season, whereas Titanic was 96-97! Actually tons of talkshow hosts (most notably Lary King, Regis, & Rosie) LOVED the Pimpernel, which is probably why it got to reopen so many times :)!

  • Was Terrence Mann in this musical? If so, does anyone know what character he played?

  • Yes he was. He played "Chauvelin". But he was only in the first version of the show.

  • Thanks!

  • Do you by anychance have Terrance as Chauvelin?

  • You can download the CD from iTunes and Target

  • I watched the first ten seconds and then I was like....yep *fav'ed* XDDD

Then I watched it about 10000 times after.

  • LOL, I understand completely!

  • LOL. I agree!

  • @albinollama Same here! I didn't even have to watch ten seconds. I already knew I'd love it. :-)))

  • what's the name of the guy who plays percy?

  • Douglas Sills!!

  • This is from the Rosie O'Donnell Show. I thought it looked familiar and the very last image is of the audience and that's exactly how hers was laid out. She always promoted the Broadway shows.

  • Wow. Doug can make even the dinkiest of settings come alive with his energy and passion. I almost wet myself when he said, "If you're going to be sick, now's the time." 10 bucks says that's NO where to be found in the script! Lol. Thanks for sharing! :)

  • Someone should give you 10 bucks. It certainly is an ad-lib.

  • i wished they had filmed the performance on stage and then release it on dvd coz ive never seen it except the clips on youtube and i really want to

  • I think most of the fanbase agrees with you. :3

  • He has a geniuos voice!!!

I love to listen it in my car, veeeeery loud and drive arround, to work ,to ...everwere(((.:

  • haha he cudnt get the jacket off!

  • Sillis is a beautiful man

  • nice. im in this musical production right now, so im watching a lot of these videos to get an idea of what its like. its really cool.

  • Ooh that's so cool! I hope I'm lucky enough to be in this production some day... What part did you get? :)

  • This is an amazing song. I love it so much. The Show is wonderful. I hope it'll return sometime soon.

  • Ah!!!! Fantastic!

  • Awesome! thanks

  • This was for the Rosie O'Donnell show. If you have the entire ep, there's also a backstage tour earlier in the broadcast. I keep meaning to put that up.

  • He's got such an incredible voice, and such presence, especially in this song. Thank you so much for putting it up!
