  • i love this song and i love this movie:)

  • Now that we've developed an influenza that can kill half of the world's population...how long until it gets free?

  • M.O.O.N lol poor rob lowe

  • great book, good movie. nice video.

  • All of this reminds me of the games Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas

  • Good jop man.

  • Perhaps an american song would be more appropriate? nice video though

  • @lukefromdownunder This song was in the movie and Don't Fear the Reaper.

  • @brunster64 okay. just feels a bit odd. such an american book, other nations are barely ever mentioned. And then such an Australian song gets thrown in

  • i was sad when Nick got blown to bits

  • @TheJakuss yes but in the case of nadine they change a lot of the character, they make lucy the one that take care of leo. and they used rita for nadie, she is the one in 2:03,

  • 3:07 - Is that Stephen King to the right?

  • @FranksWarJournal yes hi is i was abouth to make the same coment : )

  • @genesis098123 Yes that was Stephen on the right side of Corin Nemic. King does allot of Walk ons. I believe Mike Lookinland (Bobby Brady) Was in this too.

  • guess what I'm watching right now?? :-P

  • 1:05 BOB KELSO

  • lll

  • I heard this song for the first time during this mini series, and now Don't Dream It's Over has 160 plays in a week.

  • READ THE BOOK

  • Say what you want about the mini series. I get it. But but but somehow captures the day and age of mid 90's T.V. Molly F'in Ringwald c'mon. Don't dream it's over...so fitting. Got a feelin Mr. King isn't done with, in my opinion, his best work. Hey now hey now CGI is with us hey now hey now please tell the story we all want to SEE!

  • boring like watching a cheesy day time soap...why cant they adapt a book to film and make it as good...dont like any of the actors apart from lowe..found the acting lame and story was to drawn out could have covered it in 1hr 20,easly like 5hrs of needles boring filler..pray to god they dont touch the dark tower pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee.

  • nick...

  • this is my all time favorite movie. The music is awesome and the story line just the best. thanks for this compilation it is great!

  • How do 23 people not like this? seriously what's wrong with them?

  • Why is it all of Kings novels made for T.V. suck hard? I just finished reading the book, which was excellent as most of Kings are,but it seems whoever directed or rewrote the story was retarded like Tom Cullen. MOON that spells retarded.

  • @mercmarc Stephen King wrote the screenplay & Mick Garris (Sleepwalkers,Riding the Bullet) directed. I don't see what your problem is. Whenever a novel is made into a film changes have to be made. When The Stand was first shown it was a 4 part mini-series. Even at that length changes had to be made. It's impossible to adapt a novel 100%. Changes have to be made. Given the time it was made The Stand remains one of the best Stephen King mini-series.

  • i've actually started reading this book today so i am gonna stop watching this vid lol

  • THE WALKING DEAD STOLE A LOT FROM HERE ... I LOVE MY WALKING DEAD THOUGH... :P

  • @chazzdurden The Walking Dead stole even more from George A Romero & 28 Days Later. I'm a huge fan of The Walking Dead and understand why.

  • The were warned. When kareem abdul jabbar speaks everyone needs to listen.

  • It's a shame that people would read this book over and over again (I read the 1986 version then the super long 1991 version), while they never read the book King admitted he got the idea from. "The Stand", "I Am Legend", "Omega Man", and all stories like it (Mad Max, Book of Eli) are direct , and often pale imitations of a 1949 book called "Earth Abides". I have just read it for the first time, and it is superior to "The Stand". Instead of reading the same book again, try "Earth Abides".

  • @GarthanSaal444 The Omega Man is a horrible remake of The Last man On Earth which is the best version of I Am Legend by Richard Matheson made so far. The Will Smith train wreck missed the point of the novel and is just a mindless action film.

  • Stephen King and this book is referenced in the book

"6 Newly Discovered and Never Before Published Secrets to Eternal Youth and Immortality"

    by Eternal Youth Empire.

Thank you for being such a profound inspiration!!!

  • I've been searching for a movie or miniseries that features a man who works in a nuclear plant or some laboratory in the US. During the first 15-30 min. it is peaceful and calm but then out of the blue a horrible accident takes place in the plant/lab they can't control. The workers wore thick, metallic suits and helmets but still got infected. The film showed detailed agony bordering on horror. I saw it on European tv in the mid-1990s. It resembled a King setting but it wasn't "The Stand".

  • I have this on DVD i have watched this at least over 5 times

  • I loved the book. Movie was iffy, but the book was spectaculer! Long as hell, but I've read it so much it's falling apart lol. Private message me if you read Under The Dome, I loved it but nobody else has seemed to of read it.

  • Great mini series, great song, great video. I think I've watched it at least twice every year since '06.

  • Stephen King makes a Camio @ 3:07 man on the right.

  • @cchanderson He did more than a cameo,he had a good sized role in it.He came to Boulder with Nadine and he was part of the corpse burial crew

  • Amazing movie, shitty music. This is a song you use on a video of people making love, or dancing, dramatic kinda thing. Not a Stephen King novel video.

  • I can use this video to put the Spanish subtitle?,

you'd give me permission to use it?

I want to do it the Spanish subtitle ..

and would like to do with this video because I love this movie ..

    please answer me .. thanks

    Greetings from Argentina

  • The music in this video totally runied it for me....SUCKS

  • @CanEHdianRocker

    Go suck a dick.

  • @TheProgNerd Go fuck yourself troll! The music sucked, guess you like it terd burglar

  • @CanEHdianRocker

Looks like I hurt your feelings. You know, you can make yourself feel better by sucking some more Canadian dick.

  • Well, you can all argue as much as you like. It's an amazing book, a pretty good movie and an excellent song. I prefer the book. The imagination is always better. But Stephen wrote a goodun this time and i think we can all agree on that.

  • i don't like how trashcan man is old when he is supposed to be young like in his 20's.

  • 6 hours movie :D

  • I watched part 1 today and it has some of the worst acting I have ever seen on screen. It was so bad I don't even feel like watching the next parts anymore.

  • Amazing video, I saw the mini series last week...I have never seen before but I hear about it in the year of 1994, when this song come and start played in the second chapter it was wonderful !! very deeply and sentimental

    Thanks for this !!

  • @spidermanarge Thank you for leaving a comment! :)

  • Great comment. I agree with you totally. this song and the way it was intro'ed really set the tone for the second chapter and the remainder of the movie. I'm surprised you only recently watched this movie.

  • The mini-series dragged on for too long and included too much detail. A lot of detail is ok for a book but it won't work on TV.

  • "The Stand" is my alltime favourite book. Read it 5 times in German and 2 times in English. Love the movie, saw the whole thing in one night - 6 hours straight!

  • All actors are wonderful. I just love "The Stand"! Mr. King is the best ;-)!

  • What's with the dislikes? This is awesome.

  • I can't say how much I love this mini-series

  • I read it when I was twelve, and it was the first book I loved

  • The book is great, but the mini-series is generally just BAD, despite the good actors and story.

  • who sings this song?

  • @TheFro1960 Crowded House

  • @spacestevie2 Thanks,I love the song, it is great and the movie is one of my favorite of all time!

  • Best Book he has ever wrote

  • @95Godfather wizard and glass takes that title but this comes close

  • amo este libro !!!

  • The miniseries sucks based on the ruination of Harold's character alone.

  • I usually dont like older movies (probably cuzim 16) but i love stephen kings movies, is this one any good? and is it scary cuz it doesnt look scary.

  • @AJD7DC I'm 16 too and I love old movies, go watch citizen kane now,

  • @AJD7DC

I wouldn't say it's scary, just suspeneful. I don't it was suppose to be scary, i think he was just tellling us what would happen if the world were to die slowly

  • @95Godfather Ohhh ok thanks man

  • i love kareem as the prophet. go get the miniseries or the book-good stuff! Im neutral on crowded house though lol

  • @princenoobsauce Hahahaha, can't stand 'em BUT I love this song. I know, I know...

  • I'm reading the book right now, can't wait until I'm done. Go Nick, he's my fav.

  • ye i love stephen kings books

  • Beautiful

  • the music at the begining scared the hell out of me

  • @109826

Go watch it again- when the water is washing a teddybear in what is I guess supposed to be MAINE where frannie is from- This song IS in it so Drop the Swearing - like this is a MAtter of Life and Death- Geeez Get a Life!

  • @pookiebear364

Get a Life!???? Hope Capt. Trips gets your ass...Haaaaaaa

  • Comment removed

  • @109826

But pookie I do love that song by Crowded House! Thanks.

  • @109826 It sure did. In the scene where Molly Ringwald's character and some other guy (been a while since I've seen it last) plays old LP records and the room is set in candle light.

  • @nefertitisheir Harold Lauder :)

  • @nefertitisheir His name was Harold.

  • @nefertitisheir the "other guy" was "parker lewis" ;) and sure, you are right about the song!

  • @109826 This video was fan made and doesn't use the song that was used. This song did play in the mini-series.

  • @109826 But it did. Don't worry, the version you have might've been edited from the original content. Mine clearly was and it bothered..

  • Comment removed

  • The stand may be closer than we think!

  • What is it about? - Book and movie?

  • what is the name of this song?

  • nice

  • My favorite is the opening scene.

  • i wanna read the book i heard its intense and id probably kill myself after i done with it

  • Stephen King's best book, hands down. The message was significant on a number of levels, but all in all, it told me one thing: good and evil will always fight, and neither will EVER truly win.

  • @sockembopers12 My favorite was Needful Things.

  • @MsSouthernman: I also enjoyed Needful Things, and in fact, found Leland Gaunt to be a better villain than Randall Flagg (in terms of his supernatural power). It was a little too unbelievable how Flagg seemed to not understand himself at just the right moments for the good guys. But still, The Stand was amazing overall, and in my opinion, had a much stronger message than Needful Things.

  • @sockembopers12 My thought exactly, especially MOON. Not to mention that he did not foresee that both girls would jump, one as a sacrifice to save the good, the other knowing what she would give birth to. Absolutely, Gaunt was a much better villain and had a "quieter" approach.

  • @MsSouthernman: Still, you have to admit that Gaunt's defeat was a little corny; flying away in his Tucker Talisman and all. I liked Flagg's ending much more (in the uncut edition); how he, by his evil nature alone, started the cycle of control all over again. the last paragraph regarding life as a whole was also great (A wheel that no man can stand on forever, and it ALWAYS spins round to the same place again). Awesome ending by an author who, unfortunately, is not very good at endings.

  • @sockembopers12 I agree.

  • Favorite book of all time- hated this miniseries, but this vid was neato =)

  • King is the King of Sleepiness! LOL. Seriously, I could not fall asleep, so I read this, and I was out like a light. All he does is ramble on about some kind of apocalypse and their flat surviving characters. And where are the zombies?

If you want a good read, read the Twilight saga.

  • @robinzhooded I hope you are being sarcastic.

  • @robinzhooded

    I should backhand you.

  • @robinzhooded Zombies? Didn't know the Twilight saga had zombies either. True, the book was really long, but the movie gave breath to the characters.

  • @robinzhooded Must be harsh for you, being bombarded by all those morons without a sense of sarcasm. Well, it's youtube, don't expect people to understand sarcasm here :).

  • I am almost 60 and I read this book when it was first published. Read it about 4 times since then. It is always a good read.

  • @TheMonawilson Glen Bateman was my favourite character:)

  • The book is wonderful but i also like the movie....wish i could find the dvd somewhere...its pretty hard to find.

  • William johnstone

  • love it..any golden years fans also????

  • This is one of my favourite Stephen King movies! I just love it!

  • this song is AMAZING

  • Book is amazing, gonna give tv series a go but the book is something special.

  • Automatic transmission FTW !!

  • I am re-reading 'The Stand' for the eleventeenth time,I love this story and its charachters. Its amazing that it was written in 1978,because it seems more like present day.Guess thats why Mr.King is THE KING.

  • This piece of music knocks me flat every time. However, while there were some good moments in "The Stand" miniseries (the Lincoln Tunnel scene was the best, I thought), I'd like to see it remade. I recently reread the novel, and I think it stands the test of time.

  • who dies on a tractor?

  • @simmaniac22298

Die Hard Farmer? can not resist..............

  • Best King Novel....and great song Crowded House - Don't Dream It's Over

  • Loved the movie, but the full & uncut version (book) much better

  • The BEST book ever written...........

  • M-o-o-n.

    That spells moon. :]

  • Great. Wonderful. Well done!

  • ugh, awful adaptation. molly ringwald ruins fran...hopefully this will be remade soon.

  • Watching this video makes me want to read the book again...even though I´ve gone through it fore three or four times.

  • Urgh this fil was just terrible.... apart from Gary Sinise as Stu Redman and Rob Lowe as Nick Andros the film was poorly cast I mean who the hell was that playing Harold Lauder?

  • @MissCottonTail09 take it easy, it was made for tv...and its great if u ask me

  • King is a genius...thats all there is to it

  • i can read, but i lack the capability of reading books, but if i had this one i would like to read it , too

  • This song in background is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard !!!!!

  • Gary Sinise as Stu Redman GENIUS. He's not how I imagined Stu nowhere near but he is a great actor I am sure he will do the charachter justice. I can't wait to see it. Need to finish the book first i'm now on page 1042.

  • @MissCottonTail09 I read this book back in the late 70s when it came out. I never could see who I'd cast as Stu back then, but Gary Sinise does it well. (btw, my casting choice back then for Larry Underwood was Richard Gere).

  • langoliers are coming! )

  • ну такой классический клип. music good

  • i absolutly loved this miniseries back when I was a kid-I don't know why. My uncle introduced me to the world of Stephen King and I guess this happened to be my favorite. Of course it may not be the best adaptation they've done of one of his books, but I still love it and hey for an adaptation of an 1100 pg. book its not half bad. M O O N that spells Tom :)

  • @saberbazer .... Me pointing out an invalid point of view isn't tough talking? And what's with all the insults. You are the one who can't seem to understand valid opinions.

  • Bed time for me very soon... Ohh how I wish he didnt follow that paper ship down the drain... Pennywise u Bastard.... GOLDEN... :)

  • @saberbazer ...Of course you can compare an apple to an orange dumbfuck. And saying the book is better than the film or vice versa is a perfectly reasonable opinion. It makes sense that one would bring the story across better than the other.

  • Look... C.S.I. New York, The Breakfast Club, Just Shoot Me, Coach, and Saw all in one place lol. "Lt. Dan! You got magic legs!"

  • BEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!!!I SWEAR

  • DICE DIOS

  • @saberbazer: Go and cry! Hahaha :)

  • I saw this movie yesterday when it played on scifi channel, my second time seeing it.

My main critique with this movie is that it gives a not so subtle "the only good in the world is an American Christian" message it gives in the last two movies. Though as agnostic as I am, I still love this movie to death, the characters are amazing, the story is very nice, and the music score is beautiful. To me its a bitch slap with a holy bible, but one that makes you feel good for the experience.

  • I saw this movie back when it premiered on TV in the early 90s; I liked it so much that I bought the novel and enjoyed it even more. Even though the book and novel don't match in many respects, I think that most of the characters were well matched and that the ultimate battle of good against evil is well portrayed, I think that with any movie that is based on a novel, there has to be many restricitons with regards to what is appropriate for a visual audience.

  • What's the name of that song?

  • The song is called "Don't Dream It's Over" by Crowded House. Great song, I just heard it on the radio today...

  • If I was Stephan King I would be pissed they did such a horrible job with this movie. The soundtrack doesn't even belong. The whole movie was a comedy instead of horror. Too bad to, I actually liked some of the actors.

  • @3000ryu well actually, this song was played when Frannie and Harold found a gramophone and this song was what they were listening to. Whenever I hear this song or read the first half of the book, this song comes to mind.

  • King was involved with most of the process of this film. He was IN the movie, like he is in most of the movies based on his books.

They were very limited with what they could do due to budget, length and technology (the cgi in the latter part of the film).

  • this is my favorite book and movie. stephen king is awesome

  • im in 7th grade and i can understand his books there really good

  • thank you for this upload!

  • @SlingBlade79 No, thank YOU for commenting :)

  • Stephen King is a great author and the depiction of this story to film has been done superbly. One of my all time favourite films.

  • there would be at least ONE person resistant to a disease

  • The Stand is by far the best written piece of work in the English language. The whole reason why I began to write.

  • Have to agree. Although I tend to write more dark fantasy based in medieval settings, I consider Stephen King as one of the best authors to ever live. I own a lot of his books which are just fantastic.

  • Great movie, but the book is 100 times better!

  • I read the full & uncut version.. Over 1100 pages; well worth it.

  • @FireHax0rd Definitely, one of the best books I have ever read.

  • @FireHax0rd i did too..that book is a bitch to get through lol.. but it was way worth it...so good :D

  • @FireHax0rd im getting ready to read it. i think i'll like it

  • @FireHax0rd

Hi. Where can i get the book from?.

    Thanks

  • @snakgirl82 Dick's Sporting Goods.

  • @FireHax0rd over 1400 pages, awesome book!

  • @FireHax0rd yes. just finished on the 9th of july. best book ive ever read took a while though.

  • I was THRILLED when they used this song to open this installment, as it kept running through my head while I read the book! Amazing mini-series, and "The Stand" is arguably one of King's best novels. He got weak for a while after his accident, but is back in stride with "Under the Dome."

  • I watched only three series. I was too sad that Nick died. He was my favorite character when I read the book. I was so hoping he would survive. He's just too cute and awesome to die. :(

  • I loved Nick so much, too. I was amazed at how well Rob Lowe pulled him off, as he normally wouldn't have been my first choice to play him.

  • Yeah mine too. All the actors were chosen perfectly I think :)

  • @Nightshade715 i agree

  • Really Great Book

    Really Great Song

    Really Great Vid.

I'm gonna read it again, hopefully soon.

    Don't dream it's over...

    Regards

    Opus

  • wat song is it?

  • Crowded House - Dont Dream Its Over

next time type a few words of that song into google, add 'lyrics' and press enter :]

    cheers

  • Definitely, one of my favourite movies!
