I never thought I'd buy a Kia, EVER.. Just signed the contract a week ago. I got the LX sedan, black. Very nice car for the $, and I did test drive a 2010 Civic, and Corolla, and Forenza. For the $, and standard features you can't beat this car! Love it!

I own a 08 A4 Sline turbo it currently sets most of the time now.Ive been driving my 2010 Forte SX what a awesome and fun car to drive and for the money you cant beat it .We also just bought the 2011 Sorento EX. Im not going to lie if it had not been for Peter and his great reputation we wouldnt even of taken a second look at a Kia were thrilled we did !

I don't just drive it...I own it. So I don't know what you're talking about, the engine is very good against the close segments and the chassis is excellent in the top line of the car (highline). My father has a toyota and he prefers driving my forte.
Oh, yea....just so I dont get flammed. The Koup is NOT a sports car. Just a zippy compact. I'm sure the Genesis would kick it's ass. I didn't want a sports car, just a compact to get around in. As for the realiability, Kia has moved up a lot. Just google it.

I usually wait a few years for Kia to work out the kinks in the new car. I never thought I would actually consider a Kia, but the Koup is nice. I think it'll take a few years before reliability gets up to Honda's level, only then will I pick the Kia over the Honda.
Bought the Forte Koup after test driving a a few of the Civic's, an base Eclipse, The Base model Lancer, a cobalt SS and a few cheap end SUV's. In the end the Forte Koup won out, and just not on price. I thought I would never EVER buy a Kia because I thought they were just crap. Turns out I was wrong. Don't get me wrong.love the Civics and Lancers, but the Forte Koup handled excellent, good features, looks awesome. Test one out, then judge. If you hate it, then dont buy one.
You should be happy with your Kia. I'm almost certain that Hyundai and Kia are same automaker and my 2007 Hyundai is still like brand new at 50 k miles so Kia should hold up well.

GO KIA! I'm finding myself wanting to trade my Rio for the Forte Koup. What a nice looking car. 18 months ago I traded my '06 ZQ8 Chev Colorado full size cab for a Rio LX sedan. At first I thought "my god, what did I do!" Now I'm glad I did it. From 17mpg average to NEVER less than 29mpg is one of many reasons it was one of the smartest vehicle trades I ever made!

I'll admit, 6-7 years ago, Domestic products were pretty bad (but better than Kia LOL). But now the Big 3 have awesome products that are just as good or better than the competition. I had a KIA. It was a decent car. it did not compare to a Toyota. I had a few issues in the first few months. It stickered for 19900. 2 years later trade value was around 7500 If you buy one new. Plan on keeping it until you pay it off. I had an optima. Traded for an 09 corolla and happy now. Toyota builds the best cars.

I am test driving a 2010 Kia Forte SX for the day, and I am impressed. Its stiff suspension feels like the Mazda 3, and the 2.4 liter I-4 has 173 hp, with the 6 speed manual this car really hauls ass, I would like to see the performance numbers. But fully loaded for $18,300, you can't beat that price.

edmunds states that their is no car that is lower in cost to own and maintain than a Honda. Which is true. its more expensive at base but far more worth it because of its little downtimes and fuel consumption and rock solid reliability. I don't need a 100k mile warranty if i know that my car that i purchased will last well and easily over 200k miles.
I had one car that had this reputation of having rock solid reliability (toyota corolla) it died on me all the time and I didnt have a warranty...I will never buy a car based off of reputation again..My two kias will probally last just as long as a honda..

apparently you have no clue who you are talking about. The forte is mostly a carbon copy of the civic/ lancer. As far as reliability goes. Most hondas clock in 100k + mile range without any problems at all. I owned a civic that had 167k miles with no problems at all engine wise . Their power-train is almost bullet proof. Kia is nice if you want a more affordable base price. But like i said. Over time the civic and accord will be the cheapest out of the rest.

Ive driven a honda fit and kia rio..ive driven a oddyssey and sedona...ive driven a ford fusion and kia optima...all felt eactly the same...i noticed the optima was better on corners then the fusion..traction contol made the rear end bounce in the fusion..

Honda is known for their reliability, and state of the art technologies that make their cars highly efficient, and the most greenest out there so I really don't know how you call that cheap. Plus In this economic downturn, it is best to buy a Honda for it's affordability, reliability, lowest CO2 emissions, efficiency, resale value, and all-around satisfaction including the joy of driving a Honda. You must be in the lower-class to say Honda's are cheap.
Both the Civic and Forte are nice cars. The CIvic is still the winner. Better resale, reliability, handling, fuel economy. One thing you will notice is Honda ads or promos never compare themselves with any other car companies. All other car companies state their comparison to Honda.
I have to disagree, any extra money you get for a Civic at resale, you save right from the start at purchase with the Forte. So instead of dishing out more and getting it back later with Civic, you simply pay less for Forte up front and sell for less later. Kia reliability has been very good past few years, so Honda price not worth it. The Forte has higher fuel economy ratings than Civic at 27/36 with the fuel economy package. Kia is catching up to Honda, so only makes sense to compare in ads.

Nice looking car, but under the hood it has an engine knowns as world engine. 2.0 or 2.4 / 156 or 173 hp. They are very noisy. heavy on fuel if you have a heavy foot.
Not sure why you think they're noisy or fuel thirsty. I have the 2.4L in my larger Optima and I've gotten up to 35mpg on the highway, which is excellent for a mid-size car with good power.
Honda civic is a over priced car. Honda does not have even come close to this car. I happend to look at a Forte SX. It is a fully equipped car. It had over 3000 dollars worth of options as standrad equipment, and still came under 21000. cdn dollars. try civic same package. over 32000 cdn try figure this out.

Looks like Kia has a potential winner on its hands here. Its probably not going to challenge the Mazda3 or Civic dynamically (e.g., it has a torsion bar rear suspension) but it looks solid and comes with a very generous amount of equipment at each trim level. Pricing will be key; make it less than comparable Mazda, Honda and Toyota models & they could really steal a lot of sales in the C segment. Try to price it against the big boys, however, and most will shop the nameplates and keep away.
some of you are dissing kia.. critics of the design are probably justified. but in terms of build quality of their recent cars.. i was very impressed. good fit and finish.. good materials. kia is def. a company that shouldn't be counted out if you are looking for something in this class.
the EX version should have the metal accents as well since not everyone wants to have leather seats.

I don't just drive it...I own it. So I don't know what you're talking about, the engine is very good against the close segments and the chassis is excellent in the top line of the car (highline). My father has a toyota and he prefers driving my forte.

Oh, yea....just so I dont get flammed. The Koup is NOT a sports car. Just a zippy compact. I'm sure the Genesis would kick it's ass. I didn't want a sports car, just a compact to get around in. As for the realiability, Kia has moved up a lot. Just google it.

I usually wait a few years for Kia to work out the kinks in the new car. I never thought I would actually consider a Kia, but the Koup is nice. I think it'll take a few years before reliability gets up to Honda's level, only then will I pick the Kia over the Honda.

Bought the Forte Koup after test driving a a few of the Civic's, an base Eclipse, The Base model Lancer, a cobalt SS and a few cheap end SUV's. In the end the Forte Koup won out, and just not on price. I thought I would never EVER buy a Kia because I thought they were just crap. Turns out I was wrong. Don't get me wrong.love the Civics and Lancers, but the Forte Koup handled excellent, good features, looks awesome. Test one out, then judge. If you hate it, then dont buy one.

You should be happy with your Kia. I'm almost certain that Hyundai and Kia are same automaker and my 2007 Hyundai is still like brand new at 50 k miles so Kia should hold up well.

GO KIA! I'm finding myself wanting to trade my Rio for the Forte Koup. What a nice looking car. 18 months ago I traded my '06 ZQ8 Chev Colorado full size cab for a Rio LX sedan. At first I thought "my god, what did I do!" Now I'm glad I did it. From 17mpg average to NEVER less than 29mpg is one of many reasons it was one of the smartest vehicle trades I ever made!

I had a KIA. It was a decent car. it did not compare to a Toyota. I had a few issues in the first few months. It stickered for 19900. 2 years later trade value was around 7500 If you buy one new. Plan on keeping it until you pay it off. I had an optima. Traded for an 09 corolla and happy now. Toyota builds the best cars.

I am test driving a 2010 Kia Forte SX for the day, and I am impressed. Its stiff suspension feels like the Mazda 3, and the 2.4 liter I-4 has 173 hp, with the 6 speed manual this car really hauls ass, I would like to see the performance numbers. But fully loaded for $18,300, you can't beat that price.

Which is true. its more expensive at base but far more worth it because of its little downtimes and fuel consumption and rock solid reliability. apparently you have no clue who you are talking about. The forte is mostly a carbon copy of the civic/ lancer. As far as reliability goes. Most hondas clock in 100k + mile range without any problems at all. I owned a civic that had 167k miles with no problems at all engine wise . Their power-train is almost bullet proof. Kia is nice if you want a more affordable base price. But like i said. Over time the civic and accord will be the cheapest out of the rest.

Buyers of those kinds of cars don't care how fast it goes, or the 0-60 time. It mostly matters from the cars' handling that makes it fun. The drivers will realize that cornering is a joy in a car with a good chassis, and suspension. And that's why Hondas are known for their fun handling.

And fuck, don't be talking shit about an S2000 if you have no fucking clue about it. The S2000 makes 237 HP from a 2.2 liter, 4-cylinder engine. That's true engineering right there, what Kia doesn't have. You can't compare that to a fucking Nissan or Corvette because obviously they have an advantage dumbass. The S2000 competes in a different class if you didn't know anything about comparing vehicles.

Wow, the Honda S2000 is an iconic tuner car that was made from Honda's passion. So that right there is a true sports car. Whereas the fuckin' Genesis was made just to compete with the Mustang, Camaro, and all those other muscle cars which I truly respect, but not damn Kia for trying to fit in with every other automaker. Even Jeremy Clarkson, one of the cruelest critics out there, chose it over the Z4, and the Porsche Boxster because it's a true sports car, just go YouTube it up. Honda's are made with overpriced Honda made parts, meaning high resale value...theres a few downsides to that, #1 being expensive to fix...And theres over 7 million other people who would rather buy a new hyundai/kia the a new honda...soo thats just you and 4 million other people...

Wow, you make me laugh . Honda is known for their reliability, and state of the art technologies that make their cars highly efficient, and the most greenest out there so I really don't know how you call that cheap. Plus In this economic downturn, it is best to buy a Honda for it's affordability, reliability, lowest CO2 emissions, efficiency, resale value, and all-around satisfaction including the joy of driving a Honda. You must be in the lower-class to say Honda's are cheap.

Both the Civic and Forte are nice cars. The CIvic is still the winner. Better resale, reliability, handling, fuel economy. One thing you will notice is Honda ads or promos never compare themselves with any other car companies. All other car companies state their comparison to Honda.

I have to disagree, any extra money you get for a Civic at resale, you save right from the start at purchase with the Forte. So instead of dishing out more and getting it back later with Civic, you simply pay less for Forte up front and sell for less later. Kia reliability has been very good past few years, so Honda price not worth it. The Forte has higher fuel economy ratings than Civic at 27/36 with the fuel economy package. Kia is catching up to Honda, so only makes sense to compare in ads.

You may be correct, but who wants to buy a Civic wannabe anyways? Kia really needs to get some damn originality. That's the only reason why they're "catching up" to Honda.

Who in the market for a compact car would want one that's good looking, more affordable, with more features, and better MPG? People who will be driving it everyday and making car payments. LOL It's not algebra, it's life. I've learned to live with a Kia badge and I don't regret it one bit.

Nice looking car, but under the hood it has an engine knowns as world engine. 2.0 or 2.4 / 156 or 173 hp. They are very noisy. heavy on fuel if you have a heavy foot.

yeah they dont return the same mpg as a chev or ford but that world engine is usually put in more dynamic cars like the mazda3. i'd buy a forte!

Not sure why you think they're noisy or fuel thirsty. I have the 2.4L in my larger Optima and I've gotten up to 35mpg on the highway, which is excellent for a mid-size car with good power.

Honda civic is a over priced car. Honda does not have even come close to this car. I happend to look at a Forte SX. It is a fully equipped car. It had over 3000 dollars worth of options as standrad equipment, and still came under 21000. cdn dollars. try civic same package. over 32000 cdn try figure this out.

I own a KIA and personally It's faster, and handles better than a bmw and the quality is that of Lexus..........LLLLOOOOOLLLLL, um kidding these cars fall apart very quick, and the value drops fast. Did you know some banks will not finance KIA's, Hyundai's and Saturn's ?

Looks like Kia has a potential winner on its hands here. Its probably not going to challenge the Mazda3 or Civic dynamically (e.g., it has a torsion bar rear suspension) but it looks solid and comes with a very generous amount of equipment at each trim level. Pricing will be key; make it less than comparable Mazda, Honda and Toyota models & they could really steal a lot of sales in the C segment. Try to price it against the big boys, however, and most will shop the nameplates and keep away.

some of you are dissing kia.. critics of the design are probably justified. but in terms of build quality of their recent cars.. i was very impressed. good fit and finish.. good materials. kia is def. a company that shouldn't be counted out if you are looking for something in this class.
