Because if you have 2, when one fails you don't end on i a field... and it counts, as that kind of small 2-stroke engines aren't the most reliable around.
That, and there's no common 30hp engine around that fits the bill in terms of weight, etc.
Wow thats amazing, I was wondering if there is any examples of people owning small manned planes (i.e cri cri) being used as both manned aircraft or for RC? I ask this because i have seen many manned aircraft smaller (at least in size) than some rc modles! Such a thing would look great shows both rc and otherwise.
There is one person that has an RC full-size cri-cri, but that's only because he wasn't able to get it certifed for manned flight due to an error in construction, making it RC meant he hadn't lost everything...
I don't see anyone making a plane that is both RC and manned though, if you have a plane you can fly in it makes no point risking to break it by flying it RC, which is usually quite a bit more risky. Plus, good luck getting such a thing certified...
Yeah can be annoying on the ground, you need to either get out again or have someone restart them for you. In flight however the windmilling keeps them turning. So if they stop, it's nearly in any case because of something you couldn't fix in flight anyway. And like with any twin, one engine is enough to keep the plane in flight. BTW, I recently reposted that video in HD for those who ant to enjoy, just check my other videos.
so is it yours? I want to build one, I dont really need the plans i think all i would need is the plans for the wings the rest i think i have in my head. do you have any you can email me? help would greatly be appreciated
There is a Yahoo group named "cricridrawings" which is dedicated to all those who are interested in building a MC-15 "Cricri". There you will found plans, manuals, technical contents, engines data, manufacture tips and technical data. Just search "cricridrawings" on google and join up to the group to start to build your own Cri-Cri.
Hmm...I've read that whenever an airplane is yours you can fly it whenever you want...without a liscence if you at least don't land on an International or National airport or strip. You need your own airstrip. I do not know whether it is true or not. It is what i read. Thanx :)
Yes, you need a valid PPL. It's categorized as a standard airplane. As it's pretty special, there might be differences between countries, mainly about the multi-engine status. Here it's awkward, you don't require a multi-engine license to fly it, but can log the time as ME.
I'm glad someone finally posted THIS Cricri video. I remember all of the people who were calling B.S. when the first Cricri video showed up on here. Where's all of you doubters now? LOL
Looks like a fun little plane! Nice Avid, too! What engine is in the Avid? I saw a photo in one in my latest EAA "Sport Pilot" (the CriCri). Nice video work, too. Thanks.
yeh a couple people crashed and died in america because they werent put together properly and the guy that invented to plane got sued and went bankrupt.
Is the whole airplane made out of wood ? If so then what type of wood ?
Do you sell this entire airplane and engine in a kit and for how much in U.S. dollars?

I would love it if I could keep one in my garage and fly to work.

Why not ditch the two funny looking engine and get a single 30hp engine and bigger prop?

Would you have space for the legs?
MrRickFisher 2 years ago
@Timb0NZ
Larger prop = ground clearance problem.
Plus as the other comment said: One 30hp engine weighs more than 2 15hp.
Plus, installing a single engine destroys the looks and you wont have legspace, and new C.G. problems

the problem with the putt-putt plane is that if the engines die, you can't relight them from inside.

how much cost that?
gcr100 3 years ago
It's an amateur construction, you can't buy it ready-made from a factory.

No it's not mine. To get info or plans you should directly contact the designer in France or the builder's group.

This is valid for ultralights in the US, but not for registered, certified airplanes.

its a funny plane. like an rc model with a person in it. looks dangerous. if the engines fail it prob drops like a rock.
shushberger 3 years ago
No, I dont think it would because its not very heavy.

how much did it cost you to build that?

ps.how many hours is in a ppl
rotondi123 4 years ago
Yes, single engine one. You need 40 hours for the PPL. Just google it and you'll find lots of info.

Actually the range is ~500km, a little less than 3 hours.

how much do you think one of those kits cost?
Kakashi419 4 years ago
the kits were only like 10k or something but they dont make them anymore and they take forever to build.

Good day. How far can the plane go on a full load of fuel?

Just read comment below.. about 500km. My friend has however made an additional 30 l external tank that nearly triples it when fitted.
