  • To me, They look like aro's and Bettas :D

  • @Platydoras3474 Because they are! Arapaimas are one of Arowana's several types

  • Don't swim if these fish are there :D

  • they remind me or arowanas. their fins and stuff

  • they are the only two fish in the bony tongue family...makes them cousins

  • @johnptc they are not the only two there are a few species in australia and asia and africa

  • do these grow fast ??

  • Arapaima fish are actually native to South America living in the amazon river which is very muddy just like this pool. Amazing thing is a fish this big can leap out of water! Dangerous though because they can knock you out with a swing of their heavy boned head.

  • why do they put the fish in such a muddy water? it's wonderful that the guy can play around with the fish without being eaten or bitten. the fish r so big it terrifies me.

  • stupid narrator..arapaima arapaima..arapaima..lanciao..arapaima 1000x

  • setang kecek ngat ikang

  • are they tasty??

  • @tropicalultraman really tasty, we had five arapaimas in an south american "fish farm", but they were there just for fun conservation purposes, and we had to move them to another pool located a few hours, and one of the biggest ones died... so we ate it, REALLYYY TASTY

  • i went to an aquarium today and on the thing that shows what fish are in the tank it had an arapaima. I didn't see it though :(

  • came out in the news here in malaysia, that one of these fish knock down a small boat & the guy on it drowned

  • I believe that. That's one of their defense tactics. They are native to the amazon river where there are caimans and anacondas and piranhas. They can leap out of water and swing their head and knock you out if you get hit in the head bcause their skull is made of very strong bone. watch the animal planet show river monsters where Jeremy Wade went fishing for one in the amazon. He got hit in the chest. his Dr. told him that the damage was as if he crashed into the steering wheel in a car crash.

  • First time I saw this fish in a zoo here in the Philippines I really like it.

I like to have my own someday.

Hope this vids has english tranlation.

I am very curious why there in Thailand they can hold it like that is it tamed? like the crocodiles there that do shows and don't bite the person handling them.

    Doesn't it bite people?

I really want to touch it but here in the Philippines i've seen no one touch and hold it like that and it is not allowed.

  • the waters a little too muddy for them. and its not deep enough

  • This place is in Thailand called Baan Plah Yai or House of big fishes

They have all kind of rare animals or animals fish etc., perhaps not everything but a lot.

You can enter this place free.

In this video they have currently 30 fishes in that pond.

:D Im going to Thailand soon so I will visit this place!

  • OMG!! Is that animal cruelty, or are the fish playin with him too. That would be so awesome!!

  • Cruel, they didn't do anything that comes to harm those fishes.

  • piraruku one of the biggest fish of amazon river

  • Do you know what/which is the biggest?

    And which name for this fish is correct;

    arapaima, pirarucu, Arapiama Gigas?

  • arapima is the biggest fresh water fish. Arapaima gigas is its scientific name.

  • thx

  • no its not, the giant mekong catfish is the biggest, and a scientist recently caught a freshwater stingray that was huge and he thinks it is a baby, you can find it online easy. My friend has both Arapima and giant mekong catfish in his fishing lake

  • What are you serious, how big and does he have a youtube account???? His own lake...lucky!

  • wow beautiful coloration at 5:10

  • he is riding the fish

  • ooooo! i want one!

  • lol, good look getting a tank to fit a 4.5 metre fish ^^

  • Awesome fish, great for sport fishing, great eating too.

  • only as you eat the realy big ones giving them time to breed as they are getting rare in the wild.

  • these fish are pretty big i learned about them on animal crossing :X

  • same XD

  • lol, the fish slapped the guy in the face

  • I read that this kind of fish is dangerous. Its a carnivore and can be dangerous when biiten by 1...

  • I only understood "Arapaima" and "Arowana", hehe

  • i am feeling so sad this fis must live in so dirt water

  • there amazing fish, my grandad used to own one but he died about 2 years ago so we sold it :( x

  • Did the buyers know it was dead?

  • I caught one of these on Animal Crossing!

  • thats one nasty fish.

  • i fell sorry for the fish so dirty water

  • It is actually much similar to their native habitat in South America. when the rivers flood the forests every year it leave behind small ponds and muddy lakes where the arapaima breeds

  • me want to cautch one >:( small ones not like GIGANTONS

  • geta job!

  • YOU GETA JOB!

  • haha awesome they're just slithering around in the mud - fucker gets on and starts riding one!!

  • omg ive been to this exact same zoo its in Thailand in a small town called Angthong i worked and taught at a school there

    amazing place .. amazing fish

  • those are medium sized 2.5m.. i would not be in the water with the full grown 4.5m old adults.. probably smacked out ofthe water with 1 swipe of the head..

  • if one of those came with full speed and knock the crap out of ur nuts i bet thats gonna hurt

  • Who said anything about eating? LOL

I asked if that was a breeding for the aquarium trade/restocking rivers.

But I see you know as much as I...LOL

    cheers

  • probaly less lol...!!!

  • for fun i guess

  • @johnptc this doesnt make sense they only live in brazil

  • Is that a breeding pond?

    Why they draining the water?

  • i was told that they were not for eating !!!

i dont know much more.... i need to get a translation from thai.......

  • Hey john i can understand it .. its saying they are a treasure and are rare that they are trying to conserve them .. the heat dries them out and they try to pump water back in

(altho i did hear them say they are delicious) o.0

  • Comment removed

  • @flagtail I believe the narration said that the water was drained for the filming crew, so that they can get a closer look as well as interact with the fish. They didn't mention anything about breeding, but rather that the pond was first created to house exotic fish as pets.
