I requested the name of the music. The gentleman responded. It is by Johann Sebastian Bach entitled "Choral 'Erbarm dich mein, BWV 721, o Herre Gott'." I found it on iTunes. The footage is so fabulous and the music is haunting. What a combo!!!!
This is the best ever. Thank you. Why not package all this old film for dvd and commercial distribution? Can you please state the music piece? It also is a perfect choice but it's so haunting - have to know. Thanks.
Fabulous shots. Thanks for posting. Timing the swings from takeaway to impact at about 1' 10" leads me to suspect that an element of slow motion has been introduced, about 10 to 20%. I would expect Hogan to swing below one second, as do all leading pros.
Gracias a todos por los apreciables cometarios que han enviado valorando esta filmación. Thank you to all of you that have posted precious comments about this footage.
BH is 44 years old in this video. Although he smoked, he looks like he's tough as nails. Interesting that you posted the video on BH's birthday. Was BH a friend of your dad's? Any BH stories you wanna share?
What is really amazing about this footage, is that it was shot with analysis in mind. All shots were filmed at Mr. Hogan's height and the entire swing fills the frame. The icing on the cake is that there are always static reference points (trees, etc.) in focus behind Mr. Hogan to analyze the head/hip movement. Your father did an absolutely amazing job in his film making. The best I have seen for its era...just brilliant.
a terrific film of a terrific golfer we'll be able remember forever! the fond feelings and loving memories that you have of your father will stay with you forever, too. obviously, you loved him very much.
You are a saint man... what brilliant mind blowing footage...
Absolutely better than anything I have ever seen... a complete insight into the mans swing... I don't think any other footages comes closer than seeing him in person... thankyou
I decided to post this footage in remembrance of my dad and as homage to Ben Hogan, and to be viewed and enjoyed by all the golf lovers. I do believe that we still have a lot to learn from BH. My dad filmed Ben Hogan in Mexico with his 8mm camera with no tripod. In the original film the images of BH appear slowed down just like they can be seen in Youtube. My dad (1917-1978) loved golf. Thank you for your comments.
Somebody needs to send this guy (who filmed Hogan--and who thought to do it multiple times, with several clubs, from multiple angles) a medal. Seriously.
...and by the way, Hogan _could_ putt...he didn't win all those major championships not being able to putt. Read some of what Snead and Demaret and those guys had to say about his putting ability. He himself was disgusted that he didn't make everything and shoot 57 every other day, but that's just Hogan. It wasn't until some time after his regular tournament days were over that he developed those big problems with the putter, esp. short putting.
Perfectly demonstrates his right leg did NOT straighten in the backswing. Superb swing, I still like it better than Tiger's. No telling what Hogan would have done with better equipment and the modern ball.
GREAT footage, I imagine like others looking here, I'm a Hogan swing junkie, I just LOVE to see the great man in action! This is some of the BEST footaage i've never seen. THANKS!
how do I get this video? Pase, please send me a copy. best video I have ever seen of Ben Hogan

Hello,
This is the best footage on Ben Hogan I have ever seen (bow down).
Your dad has witnessed one of the most effective swing in history and I hope he will be remembered for filming it.
Thank you,
