  • it chills my bones! scary!!!

  • Could somebody PLEASE tell me where I can find this sheet music?

  • Although Marie's teacher, Chardin/Chardini composed a melody on Florian's lyrics, it's his pupil's version which remained popular (Marie Antoinette's). To add to the confusion, XXth Century British composer Benjamin Crist appropriated the song as an arrangement of a French "folk song" without naming his source. Printemps's 1951 recording is sublime as is Bidu Sayao's radio recording of the same year(elsewhere on YT).

  • The song Sayão recorded (also Angelica Pandolfini and Maggie Teyte) I always understood to be by Edouard Lâlo.

This song, here sung by Yvonne Printemps, was also recorded by, of all people, Lotte Lehmann.

It is usually called "Chanson de Florian".

  • Now you know better. It's called "Chanson de Marie-Antoinette" because she wrote the music on Florian's lyrics. It is not by Lalo.

  • READ MY WORDS CAREFULLY:

THIS song (supposedly by Marie Antoinette) and the song Sayão recorded—ARE NOT THE SAME SONG.

  • Why mention Bidu's recording at all? Is there an element of this discussion I missed?

  • Read your original posting. YOU brought up Bidú Sayão's singing of a song that has the same words by Florian, but a DIFFERENT tune,as if it were this same song.

  • its composed by her but the lyrics are by someone else.

  • lyrics by jean Pierre Claris de Florian , aka Florian,

  • is this composed by marie-antoinette?

  • yes probably, but some authors says it is Chardin (Chardini) master of music of Marie Antoinette ...

  • love marie antoinette...
