the animal control just came and took my 4 kittens and their momma and i told my mom to keep mine and she came in and said that she was not gonna pay a fine because they wont falidated yet but she told me 2 weeks before that she would take mine down to alabama wen we go down to c my cousins and my dads sister and now im very very VERY UPSET I HATE MY LIFE i luv kittens but my moms alergic to cats and she gonna keep my boy cat black P.S. In my region(canada) it costs 150$ for cats 200$ for kittens and 75$ for senior cats (7years and older) but theyr already neutered/spayed, microchipped and vaccinated, i think its great!

@AllenCityTV if the animals at a shelter were for free, they would find more homes and not get killed so cruelly. euthanizing a healthy animal is NOT kind.

@epoose I think there are two good reasons why there should always be a price when you adopt animals from shelters.

first of all the shelters need support because they took care for that animal

second of all when you get animals fo free some people tend to not think well enough about having an animal for a long time... they can live up to 20 years and the vet and the food can be quit costy... so if you need to pay a fairly small ammount it makes you think twice if you will be able to handle it.

-ok so i have 2 cats i got at a shelter in pittsburgh, one is 5 years old, the other is 10 years old, we had them for 3 years now, the 10 year old is no problem, but the 5 year old chews furniture, shoes, even electrical cords, getting kinda crazy. My problem is if I get rid of the 5 year old, im afraid the 10 year old wil get sick because they are now close friends. i cant have the 5 year old chewing up my stuff, and i really hate to get rid

@AllenCityTV They're so cute! Only $70? That's a good price. Here at our animal shelters it costs almost $400 to adopt a dog and $140-$175 to adopt a cat or kitten. I think that's why people don't really want to adopt here cause it costs so much.

i'd imagine. every place has to have some kind of animal control. dunno if they'd have an adoption center in your area but there's gotta be at least one somewhere there, and probably not far..check your city listings and look for animal control

Yes, but it covers the cost of first time shots, spaying the pet, and food. Also many shelters are not for profit. They do not get a lot of money. Shelters need the 70 dollars to stay open, to feed the animals, to provide care, to rescue more animals. Sadly they still do not enough 2 keep all the animals alive. To many unwanted pets. That's why I never buy from a breeder, just taking money from shelters and distracting people from getting animals @ shelters. BTW Shelter pets = least expensive.
