@tyr427 In my expereince, the 8XL is the fastest motor that runs reliably on 6S LiPo. It all depends o if you set it up with the proper gear ratio. If interested...dan(at)kersahwdes­igns,com.

MMM system and run a castle blower on the motor

not forgeting 4s lipo

i got a "kershaw designs" electric conversion kit.... it runs the same motor as this.. a phoenix 125a esc, and 2X3C 5000mah li-po..... the standard savage wheelie bar is useless coz with two 3cell li-po's it does a double backflip almost on the spot, wheelies at full trigger almost anytime, will flip at full trigger even if i' doing 30+mph..... video to come soon as i get someone to video it....

Yes, you could run NiMH at first. By the way, if you get the Mamba Max, the Max can handle a faster 7XL motor with proper gearing. And make sure the NiMH packs are of good quality to supply the anperage needed.

i ran nimh for a season with my mamba max it was alot of fun but my run times were like 5mins tops with teh biggest capacity cells i could find. then i blew the battery up so i dedcided to switch to li po and omfg im running a 6000mha andi get over 35min runsa driving mostly full throttle and the power is ridiculous!!!! i just trying to say unless u dont have nimh allready just go straight to lipo and save your money!!!
