Most depressing thing I've learned:

I have spent 4 years in Professional Writing, learning university level writing skills. However, if I get a job writing for the public I will have to DUMB DOWN my writing because the general public has, at most, a grade four reading level.

My question to the teacher that said this: Then why the fuck are we here?

His answer: If you don't know the answer to that than you really have wasted your money.

My answer: I love reading and writing.

I wish everyone did.

It would be brilliant if we could get everyone to love it. I'm only a sophomore at my highschool, I love writing poetry, doing spoken word, reading any book that looks promising, but I can only wish there were more kids with these passions. We CAN give the people the passion, we just need to do it in a way that will blow their minds. Any spoken word poets out here? I wanna get a group together and try to show the world the strength of a powerful vocabulary. If you think I'm nuts... so be it.
