  • imagine how many germans shit their pants when they heard that coming!

  • That Merlin's roar is music to my ears, that's what I call a low pass.

  • I love how that guy goes "Wooh" right before it goes by

  • My favorite video. Watched it a 1000 times.

    That merlin gives me chills.

  • Thnx to Edgar Schmued (German immigrant) for designing the aircraft.

  • The Doppler's effect created by P51's engine is great...just love the sound of it...

  • That was awesome!

  • 30 Jug pilots

  • This gave me the chills

  • @dataguttene just wrote the same comment without seeing yours. cheers from japan

  • um ótimo veterano da segunda guerra mundial,

  • 30 people need to get a life

  • @awesomelegomadness

I agree, without this plane those dolts might be speakling the german language now and not enjoy the fruits of democracy that so many paid such a great price for.

  • too bad some yahoo was yelling and pretty much ruined the video

  • Merlin engine...so pretty sound

  • @soviet507 i completely agree

  • Crazy!

  • I love it, We*ll be back. God Bless the U.S.A.

  • awesome!!!

  • 20 feet off the ground at that speed? Hope there was a really hot chick watching to risk everything

  • My father flew in Berlin Airlift and was a huge airplane fan. He bought me model P-51 Airplanes in mid 60's I built as a kid. Since then, especially after hearing one fly by, they've always caused me to get goose bumps when they fly by... What a fantastic aircraft.

  • HOLY SHIT!!......WOW!!...

  • You saw that speed that plane had? : Yes

You saw heard the reaction from the guy: Yes

    Now think like this:

A dog fight in the 40is in that speed with all gunns fiering and planes all over the place in that speed.

To all the ppl that have Gramps that fought in the 1945 and flew those planes.

    RESPECT!

    sry bad eng

  • @RedGr3mlinz Your English is fine. I understood EXACTLY what you said. I couldn't have said it better myself. I thank you sir for your great comment; I know my grandfather would have very much appreciated also!

  • Thats why they call her the Cadillac of th skys.

  • Great googly-moogly!

  • Ive never gotten a hardon so fast

  • That is definitely music to my ears, that Rolls Royce roar is just phenomenal!

  • Happens in my front yard every day

  • I know you Brits are justifiably proud of your Spitfires and Hurrucanes, and really I do appreciate the RollRoyce upgrade, for me the P51D is the coolest prop plane ever.

  • One of the greatest engine sounds i've ever heard...

  • more like 350+ MPH actually faster than NASCAR for you guys.

  • Comment removed

  • The guy recording says "Down and dirty" but that wasn't a "dirty" pass. It definately was down though...

  • Recorded with a toaster.

  • p51 hurricane spitfire or stukka dive bomber

  • @haterofterrorism P40, P47, or F4U IMO.

  • What a beast!

  • Love that sound! Merlins rock

  • I just went from 6 to midnight.

  • Looool cars are gay.

  • @RADIOACTIVEBUNY umm ok?

  • @Robbieifyoucan Meaning if I had a choice between a Mustang, a Mustang, and a Mustang, I'd take the Mustang.

  • @george1976ist However, The English language is derived from early Germanic dialects brought to Great Britain by the German Anglo-Saxons in the 5th century. Furthermore, the English & German languages are the only two European languages that are not Latin based!

lol 50 million Americans are NOT from Germany. Although, I'd venture to bet a lot more than 50 million Americans have German ancestry.

  • @george1976ist LMAO! What you're stating as fact, is what's known to the educated as an "Urban Legend" or what YouTuber's like to call a "FAIL" Here's the truth: On January 13, 1795, Congress considered a proposal, not to give German any official status, but merely to print the federal laws in German as well as English. During the debate, a motion to adjourn failed by one vote. The final vote rejecting the translation of federal laws, which took place one month later, is not recorded.

  • @george1976ist Discovery called it the most important plane of the 20th century because it gave allied bombers a fighter escort all the way to and from their targets, allowing allied bombers to destroy the nazi war machine, and their ability to make war. This was not possible prior to the P-51, without which allied bombing raids may of been halted. In which case you & I could very well be speaking German now!

PS top speed is 437 mph in level flight @25000ft... Try google sometime; it's great!!!

  • Like I used to tell my grandfather (WW2 P-47 & P51 jockey) "It pisses me off that you got to do something infinitely more bad ass than I'll ever get to do, and you did it in the 40's!!!" R.I.P. Gramps!

  • @moto1p1 That pisses you off?

  • @testermanish Of course it doesn't really piss me off. The fact that my grandfather was a WW2 fighter pilot, flying a Mustang no less; makes me proud beyond measure! However, being a motocross racing skydiving adrenaline junkie it does, for lack of a better word, suck, that I'll never get to experience what I would consider to be the most intense thrill mankind has ever known... Flying a P-51 Mustang into combat during WW2!

  • I love the sound of that P-51 screaming by, those old fighters were like hot rods of the sky!

  • How fast did the P51 go at full throtle?? About 400, maybe?

  • Press 5 for WooooW....

  • Discovery called it the most important plane of the 20th century

    I agree!!

And I am 16 years old

  • That was awesome best plane every

  • Thanks for the vid man! @ zillsbury douche boy, ehy dont you buy him a new camera? Not everyone has mommy and daddy wiping there butts at 30...

  • @zillsburyy Could you have a "SHITTIER" attitude????? Zillsburyy DOUGH BOY HAHAHAHHAHHAAAAHAAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAHHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA

  • lol redneck airshow :) great vid of an amazing plane

  • what a beast

  • P51 Cadillac of the Sky!

  • We tend to think WWII planes were slow and shitty. I as a pilot incurred in that error on the past. Now i know bette. Read about the Stuka, the auto recovery sistem it had was so advanced im still impressed. WWII planes rock. They could even cause real severe damage in a modern war against infantry or light vehicles.

  • Boner-inducing sound! Great!

  • Awesome old airplane!

  • i like da f4u corsair

  • AWESOME!!!

  • I just got goosebumps! Thanks!

  • Never mind how it looks when that thundering roar goes through your ears and gives a feeling like nothing else on earth can do, you feel like you just been touched by god and some of his magic is coursing through your vains you know your alive, best feeling on earth and then some, brings a tear to your eye with pure euphoria.

  • I rode as a passenger in one of those about 10 years ago. Pretty cool ride!

  • @jimpeoples1 1 lucky person right here.

  • that is such a throaty sound. bam!

  • Wow great plane, they say that a picture is worth a thousand words, but i think that a thousand pictures won't be enough to describe how nice this plane is :D

  • @97bosko a picture will never describe how you feel when that sound goes through your body, best feeling on earth.

  • @vback Yeah,I agree pretty nice :)

  • This was awesome!

  • Euhh, my father is better than yours??!?? The video is nice, go talk about politics on another post...

  • @Scharfschutzen1 Ahh.. there it is... I knew that was coming.

  • @Scharfschutzen1 Only trying to educate you since you are so ignorant of well-documented history. I should have known better than to let myself get trolled by a German Nationalist.

  • @Scharfschutzen1 It is a matter of well-documented history. I don't know if you are aware of it, but German Nationalism is not a substitute for cold, hard facts.

  • @Scharfschutzen1 He learned how to design aircraft from working at General Motors' Fokker aircraft division.

  • boy and thats a forties aircraft woow

  • I got choked up thinking about how many "joes" heard that angel over their shoulders. Thank God for rich people with great taste and a mind for history.

  • what a sound, brings chills to my spine.....legendary plane

  • 40's technology was pretty cool huh?

  • That's just hot!

  • My favorite plane.

  • @ZRace67 Mine too :D

  • USA! USA! USA!

  • Wish the video quality was better, but the audio can't be beat! That was awesome.

  • @Jonno2summit Go to the search block for YouTube and type in "Mustang Low Pass Henley Ranch. You will not believe your eyes and ears. Unmatched quality for what you were looking for here. Lowest level "Gear up" upon take-off at 10 seconds into the video, that I have EVER seen. I bet you will agree. It is a very little known/watched video, but well worth it.

  • The P51 was initiated by the UK Air Ministry, both as a design and prototype.

Originally fitted with the US designed Allison engine,it proved woefully inadequate, indeed it was hopeless. The UK Air Ministry allowed the Merlin engine to be produced under license in the US and that cured its problems.I've had the priveldge of personally speaking to 3 WW2 Mustang fliers, they have only high respect for the Merlin engine. One said " we designed it, your engine made it fly "

  • @CharleyFarley1040 The requirements for what the plane was supposed to have and do were from a British commission, but North American Aviation designed and built it.

  • i bet all the old german tourists ran for their lives!!

  • @TheReaperIsGrim

Mon contrere: but there are several BF 109's with the Daimler-Benz engines, that are airworthy, and there's even one ME 109 lurking about, with a DB engine.

I know of one original flyer here in the States, the rest are in Europe. It's easy to spot if it's got the original engine: look at the location of the exhaust pipes. If they're up high on the fuselage, then it's got a Merlin. If they're down low, near the top of the wing, then it's got a DB engine.

  • If you didn't scream like a little bitch this video would be pretty cool.

  • Yeah baby!!!

  • British Rolls Royce Merlin engine....best in the world.

  • jdflyboy: you are to be commended. There is another video, in which some limp-boys have inserted some gayboy guitar music(!) and then they go into a fur-ball about those of us who merely want to hear the engines. Oh well.

  • my keyboard is all covered in some sticky stuff..

  • 250mph? Looked a bit faster to me. They had a top speed (depending on model) of 370mph to up around 450mph. Sweet video BTW, gives me chills!

  • To bad you had a crappy camera with you.

  • :O :O :O

  • Was the P-51 British? Well depending how you look at it, then yes. But the United States has a thing with taking ideas and making them bigger and better. And the P-51 is a key example of that. In the end the P-51 is known as an American aircraft. And the sound of that Packard V-1650 engine never gets old and should be admired by all.

  • @ihavtugo doesnt the p-51 use the british merlin engine?

  • @ihavtugo correct me if I'm wrong. P51 designed and built by North American Aviation with Packard/Allisons. Britain got some via lend lease and stuck Rolls Royce Merlins in them making them the hot rods they became. Packard/Allison then built Merlins for P51s under license. Packards strutted their stuff in PT boats. Doesn't matter. Hearing one of those engines from that era, round or V, makes you stop what you're doing and search sky for a glimpse of that piece of history.

  • The engine is a Rolls Royce Merlin V12 design licensed to Packard motor company and built in Detroit ;)

  • ooops! Wet myself again.

  • P51= Chuck Norris's plane of choice.

  • P-51 MUSTANG, CADILLAC OF THE SKIES!!!!!!!!

  • I can picture the Nazis shitting themselves now......

  • @Hiei2k7 Hoorah to thatt!!! jaja

  • That engine makes me speechless.. keep the turbojets, keep the turbofans, give me this!

  • The Merlin was a Rolls Royce Engine! Packard built them under licence from Rolls Royce.

  • I don't think the P51 had a Merlin engine. It had a Rolls Royce. The Spitfire had a Merlin.

  • that has to be one of the hottest sounds ever heard!

  • @bernhardtsen74 NO kidding!

  • I'd choose this machine over a JSF anytime.

  • Gotta love the merling engine.

  • @theshow2k8 merlin

  • I had my speakers on full :) :)

  • Do you have the clip in better quality?

  • and just think, it's just loafing....best prop fighter ever.

  • lucky guys whomever got to fly that beauty

  • Good thing he wasn't on a strafing run!

Tho the sounds from six .50 cal MG-52 machine guns would have added to the video! lol

    Nice video.

  • Hard to imagine that this machine is almsot 70 years old! Pretty amazing

  • The mustang never used to be a good fighter plane until the they Put a Royls royce mustang engine in it and then it was one of the greatest fighters of ww2.

  • @JAH9495 very true but i believe you're referring to a rolls royce merlin engine tho

  • @derro1989 yeahh sorry i ment rolls royce (:

  • @JAH9495

It was always a good fighter. With a US made engine or a Rolls, the P-51 was a great fighter. The Merlin just made it legendary.

  • @PhinfanUK

This is a British plane though! the Brits just gave the design to the Americans because they wanted their own version of the Spitfire.

  • did you film this with a calculator -.-

  • @jackydefo i think it was ...probably an old Texas interments calculator .

  • It must of been awsome, just a shame the quality of the video...

  • Wow! Sorry I wet myself.

  • Man that sounds good the only thing that Sounds better is a ME-109 :)

  • aaaaaaahhhh, listen to that merlin!! nothing like it!

  • The one thing I remember at High School Graduation out on the football field is a man named Butch made a low pass in his P51 Mustang going the length of the field during the National Anthem - It was something of a graduation gift to some of the boys he knew in my class. He didn't fly this low but it certainly caught everyone's attention! Awesome!

  • my keyboard is all covered in gooey stuff..

  • Awesome, shame its not a spitfire though;-D

  • Wanna see some more low level (lima lima) Mustang stuff? Go to the search block and type in: Low pass Mustang Henley Ranch

You won't be disappointed. More of the great Merlin engine too.

  • @fbenenati Hat tip,for the Henley ranch clip....

    thx mark

  • Probably the best sounding engine ever ???

  • The vintage roar of justice.

  • @ironpirites

Yes, especially when they tore to pieces peasants in the fields when there were no real enemies. ;-)

  • The ancient warcry replaced with roaring engine. gives you the chills

  • Those things are no joke. Faster and more agile than anything thats not a jet fighter. Capable of almost 500mph. Don't call them ancient they would blow your socks off.

  • @supramanz I agree with you about the plane, I was talking about psychological effect of the sound it makes

  • jesus no wonder we win wars...

  • Comment removed

  • @csvanquishftw You helped win WWII, you didn't win it single-handedly. By the way, the definitive version, the P-51D, was powered by the Packard V-1650, a two-stage two-speed supercharged version of the legendary Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. It's okay, there's no need to thank us for the engine. No I'm not being disrespectful to the American contribution to WWII. I admire all the Allied nations who fought against Hitler, but no one nation could have achieved it alone.

  • @TheMG63 lol well thats wat i meant, wen i said "no wonder WE win wars" by WE i meant the allied side. not just america

  • @csvanquishftw Brits get very touchy on the subject!?

  • @lander4545 wat do u mean? im not trying to offend anyone especially the british people

  • @TheMG63 Well, we did have a little skirmish with the Japs as well. By 1944, we could have won the war single-handedly. I say this because of our well trained pilots and huge mass-production of arms. I read a lot of comments that claim that America waited to the last minute to enter the war. In 1940, our military strength was comparable to Greece..

  • That was the last thing many nazis saw before they were sent to the grave.
