You know what I've been wondering: she has 5 or more videos of different Chopin pieces all in the same costume and setting - so does that mean she has all this music memorized and played them all on one day? THAT would be amazing!
Music written so long ago has waited and waited for the perfect rendition and with it comes a message--- that life holds a promise of magical beauty wanting to be discovered if we can push negativity aside, refuse to let it fog our vision, for the real meaning of life is all around us in forms truly wondrous... this music, finally rendered properly is meant to be a sample of what's out there waiting, waiting to be found and treasured.
Her love of this piece is conveyed in each note; control of chord intentions precise... her soft approach at the beginning is balanced by the passionate middle treatment, probably what the composer intended; listen to this love, admire it forever, you won't hear a better rendition-- after decades of attention to this piece I value my opinion, so should you..
Agree!!! Valentina's seem to make wonders at the piano... I love both Valentina Lisitsa and Igoshina, but I think Lisitsa always seem to show off in any fast passage...
At 3:05 Igoshina keeps the tempo down, resulting in the most balanced and beautiful rendition of op 10 no 3 by mankind
I have never in my life heard this, I have heard others play this music, but this is my first time I have heard what I think that Chopin must have felt when it was composed, it is truly wonderful. What a blessing the world has in Valentina Igoshina.
Even as a child I recognized the beauty in music such as this. I remember my father playing this song and it resonated throughout the halls and even through the walls; just as his father did before him, and his father before that. Chopin has been a part of my family and my own life. As has music in all it's entirety. Music is what keeps me alive inside.
Chpin's etudes are often said to represent different technique aspects of piano playing, but I would definitely say this one represents feeling!!! it's divine, and played by a goddess :))
Love this interpretation of this piece, I have been searching for the right version for a long time because I am playing it at an exam on Monday!!! You can tell she fully understands Chopin's music, there are a few wrong notes in there thought that Chopin wouldn't be too happy about though!!!
what is there to dislike about the intensity of this artist...she carries the essence of this piece better than many of the men I have heard play it here on YouTube...maybe, becuz, she's a woman...women feel things more deeply than men, I think...their hearts are always on their sleeves unless they have been savagely wounded by a man...
...The best pianist in the world. Perfect balance of emotion, power, reflexion and technique. Valentina plays it the way Chopin would have it... Vin Smith
I LOVE how this goes from being soft and mellow, then to being so very intense, and then soft and mellow again. Only Chopin could compose something so intricate.
@emmanytube Lady Gaga has nothing to do with Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga probably loves Chopin.. Bieber probably hardly knows who he is. This is just reality, and please stop misunderstanding Gaga. She's a cool artist.
@PorroFirst This comment made my day. Not entirely in agreement, but it's unfair when people judge an artist without research. Gaga may not be any Valentina Igoshina, but she is a vocalist and pianist who deserves a little more respect as musician. I don't know enough of about Bieber to make any real comments...not much of a fan though, don't like his voice.
@emmanytube Lady GaGa is a real artist, don't mean i like her but she's a composer. It's just that she's doing commercial music to get more fans. And most of the people are still idiot to like it.
I really dont like the crazy atonal part in the middle. I know it's for "contrast" or whatever but I'd rather it just be beautiful all the way through.
Beautifully done, heard one egregious sour note, must say I prefer Lang Lang's version at the Berlin Philharmonic on 1/31/09; this, though, is special in it's own right in that her passion and love of not only Chopin's composing but also of simply playing can be felt here.
It is a shame how a lot of people, in the midst of such music, can be reduced to insulting people who'm they will never meet.
There are videos where debate is encouraged and expected; it is always likely for insults to be flung there. But here? You wouldn't do it in a sacred place; this kind of music is 'sacred' to some of us, so please can we leave bickering in the millions of videos where it already exists; the disease shouldn't spread to this music. It is just sad.
- What people need to realize is that almost all music today was derived from the classical music era. Most musicians who go to universities and colleges to receive an education, then go on to a career, all took classical training. If you're trying to compare the acoustic music of the long past, composed by geniuses of music, to our talentless, electronic, self-absorbent, money loving musicians of today. I'm sorry, but you should probably go back to high school and appreciate a certain intellect
In an attempt to rationalize this intense passion that I have developed for Chopin's music i have concluded to the following. It is this clarity that exists in his musical phrases, this charm, that has its roots at the depths of the composer's heart and that comes to the surface producing this aesthetic environment of piece and purity. An environment that is so much missed in the artistic expression's of our times. I have found shelter in his music and for that I thank him with my heart.
The way it should be played; this is a passionate, soulful, bittersweet song Chopin wrote about his war-torn country. I think it was Poland. She plays beautifully!
a very very rich clown who's talent has been recognized the world over and probably one who has more talent than you ever will...
For shame that you can't possibly make those balloon animals as well as him. Haters will hate, and if you really think he's bad, then try and do better...if not then shut up and watch him prance around in his clown suit.
Lang Lang a clown, yes. But you, sir, will never be a tenth the clown he is ;)
@taintofshadow Ultimately, it is a very good thing for you that you don't know who I am and what I am. I take it you assume I am partially if not fully ignorant of music and that I just go about posting baseless provocative comments. Now on your...comment...whether he is rich or not, couldn't possibly care less, and I didn't say he was "bad", I just said he is a clown. Anyone who knows a little of the classical art world knows that there's nothing wrong with expression, WITHIN REASON!!
@eholian To call yourself better of whom many people consider to be a fantastic player, if a bit of an actor on stage is a bit pretentious dont you think? If you really were so amazing that you blow lang lang away dont you think that your name alone would be legendary amongst pianists? please go ahead and divulge otherwise all the comments you spew sound pompous and ARE just "baseless provocative comments". I for one am nothing but dust beneath these pianist feet. i have videos to prove it :P
@taintofshadow Oh and one more thing, I don't try to do better than Lang Lang, I AM better. And no, I will never be a clown, "sir", for I am a Madame, and I would rather die before the world sees me as a clown on stage rather than for the musical ideas I put before them. But hey, everyone is entitled to their taste...and you can keep watching and listening to your circus...ignorance is bliss.
Now i'm just laughing myself silly as you can't possibly see what I did there. To even go so far as to clown on yourself and join the circus.
He entertains, and many find him entertaining. The world cares not for whom you are. I don't. My dog doesn't. And no one else does, apparently. I am simply stating that we really don't care.
You can poke fun at the man. But you are simply using anonymity as a shield for you're true face.
Each time I play a piece of music I can't stand any other performance than my own....... well I'm positive she plays it just like me! or rather just like I try to play it! It's perfect!! Now I can't stand hearing ME play it, I just listen to her over and over.... THIS is true Chopin!!
I don't really like her version of chopin, I mean.... it sounds too female, I know she is but I guess it has to be faster and less broken in many parts... and more aggressive!
@987Mars Oh... my... god.... Oh my GOD!!!! I can't believe it! No, I've never read your comment! It was just a bad nightmare. It's not real! It can't be real! You never wrote those words! I'm just seeing things! Yea, that must be it..
Anybody know any other piano songs that are as lovely as this one? So sad.. I love this one and Franz Liszt' Liebestraum, somehow so very similar. Anybody have suggestions for me?
@asadik123 I love it! But I'm looking for more challenging pieces, technically speaking. I can just handle Liebestraum and Op 10. 3 after much hard work. But it's definitely worth it.
@Belisagenius: Most of Chopin's compositions- if not all- are very expressive and provoking. Some of my favorites are Waltzes Op. 34 No. 2 & Op. 64 No. 2 (I like Evgeny Kissin's interpretation most) and Nocturne in C sharp Minor No. 20...
----------------------
Ave Maria gratia plena Dominus tecum benedictatu in mulie ribus et benedictus fructus ventris tui Jesu. Sancta Maria Mater Dei ora pro nobis pecatoribus nunc et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen +
If I couldn't see her, I would still be deeply in love with this woman- just for this precious gift. Of all things I know, this is the most beautiful.
I really don't see why? She plays it at the perfect tempo, hits the keys more smoothly as they should be in Chopin pieces and really immerses you with the etude whilst playing on a better sounding piano. I really have no idea of what you're thinking and I'll have to disagree with you
One of the greatest classical melodies ever written. Valentina's performance brings out the passion and beauty of Chopin's music. This piece, in my opinion, summarizes Chopin's style beautifully, with incredibly powerful atonal chords contrasting the recurring, immensely beautiful and emotional melody.

I don't even know you so no. Sorry. I don't date Bieber lovers. :)
kelceejofarra 8 months ago
@kelceejofarra but, think of posterity! If I let my children and all their friends love Bieber as I do, what kind of a future would that be???
987Mars 8 months ago
@987Mars
While that future is much too scary to think about, it wouldn't matter anyway. Children love whatever they want weather you like it or not.

Her dynamic range is reminiscent of Richter.

I listen to this, thinking I could never do it ... Every note is a blade in my heart.
This track is beautiful.

One of the best renditions of Tristesse I've heard. Most pianists tend to mess up the tempo but this one sounds almost perfect.

Anybody know any other piano songs that are as lovely as this one? So sad.. I love this one and Franz Liszt' Liebestraum, somehow so very similar. Anybody have suggestions for me?
Belisagenius 10 months ago
@Belisagenius I guess you would also love Schumann's Traumerei.
asadik123 10 months ago
@asadik123 I love it! But I'm looking for more challenging pieces, technically speaking. I can just handle Liebestraum and Op 10. 3 after much hard work. But it's definitely worth it.
Belisagenius 10 months ago
@Belisagenius: Most of Chopin's compositions- if not all- are very expressive and provoking. Some of my favorites are Waltzes Op. 34 No. 2 & Op. 64 No. 2 (I like Evgeny Kissin's interpretation most) and Nocturne in C sharp Minor No. 20...

If I couldn't see her, I would still be deeply in love with this woman- just for this precious gift. Of all things I know, this is the most beautiful.

As much as I love Valentina Igoshina, I prefer Michie Koyoma interpretation of the Chopin Etude..
MySuperstar09 10 months ago
@MySuperstar09
