  • This is Newt Gingrich's acceptance speech.

  • Greg was told to inject words like that into the promo to make it seem controversial. Same thing happened with HHH and Booker T. Dialogue that approaches racism has been used before to catch attention. But you can tell that Greg is faking this far more than a usual promo because he's doing this half assed and without any life in it at all. He's not a racist at all so he'd obviously feel kinda awkward doing something like this which is why the promo is so damn terrible.

  • @TheGothicMaria LMAO, Gene looks at the director as if to say 'No cut? Really? You wanna keep rolling? O-kaay!' Classic pre-PC era.

  • Did anyone else notice that Mean Gene first introduced "Frank The Hammer Valentine"

  • @Will316316

No, he said "Greg". I watched it a couple times and he did say "Greg".

  • LMAO genes look of dread after he says "nasty black man"

  • Yeah thats pretty bad, But they call it heat, and theyll take it any way they can get it ! Tasteless rude and crude ! thats 80s wrestling. Love it ! Who won ?

  • @hessdx1 Boston Garden - May 18, 1985 - WWF IC Champion Greg Valentine pinned the Junkyard Dog at 10:33 by reversing a powerslam attempt into a small package

  • @jordomac24 Cool ! Thanks ! did it leave a spot ?

  • @TheGothicMaria I was thinking the same thing his facial expressions are classic lol.

  • Looks like a grown up Eric Cartman

  • @regi6500 lol

  • Mean Gene's face during this interview is priceless! He wanted to say "WHOA! WTF?!"

  • Valentine is horrible at cutting promos, he's even aadmitted it. I also saw him at some indy shows in NH in 2003 and he struck me as being an asshole. Ive never liked him in the ring.

  • I met The Hammer at an indy show in North Carolina (JYD territory) back in the late 90s and he was cool as hell! Even had a convo about his career with me and my homeboy and we're both black. See, the psychology is there in the interview if you read between the lines: Hammer is wrestling the most popular black wrestler ever in a city known for its racial problems (Boston) and he wanted to both incite black fans against him and bring in more drunk Irish skinheads to the show which = MORE MONEY!!

  • F everybody.

  • here goes the jews vs blacks arguments

  • different era. Back than gay and race comments were ok. Now Greg would be fired

  • @apark02 ...yeah right. there are racist remarks all the time in wrestling. In the goddamn suggested videos section, there is a clip Booker T. vs. racism. Vince Mcmahon has said nigga on wwe telecasts. Get real.

  • @flipgood89 theres a difference between saying nigga and calling someone a dirty black man 3 times in an interview you ignorant fool. What are you 12 years old? Talk to me if you graduate high school.

  • @apark02 ....wtf? that was just one example. There have been plenty of examples of racist remarks in wrestling, in recent years, which completely defeats your original stupid ass statement. And how you are able to make the distinction between a white man saying the word nigga, and valentine talking about Black skin as if the nigga comment is benign, while the dark skin comment is overly objectionable is beyond absurd. Seek help.

  • @flipgood89 who did Vince call a nigger? Nobody. People say that word without malice even though it has a degrading meaning. Have you ever listened to hip hop ever? I dare you to go up to the projects and say what up nigga and than go to another person and say you are a dirty black man. There will be 2 complete different reactions I guarantee you.

  • @apark02 ...A white man saying the word nigga, and a black man saying it have two completely different connotations. How many white men in hip hop, get on wax and say the word "nigga". AND AGAIN, that is not the only example of racism in wrestling in recent years.

  • @flipgood89 2 different connotations? Fuck that, im not black and ill say it all I want. Nigga Nigga Nigga Nigga Nigga Nigga. i dont mean any disrespect when I say it. The words become the same as homie or friend. Get that stick out of your ass.

  • Ohhh SHYT Call JESSE JACKSON

  • Holy Shit how did my parents let me watch this.

  • I HATE GREG VALENTINE! HE WAS ALWAYS CORNY

  • @rockyrack3 what a load of crap, I am irish and have never heard such a crazy generalisation

  • mean gene's face when he says "nasty blackman"

  • @SuperDeluxe80 Yeah, I know lol

  • How is that a "racial promo" ? He called JYD a black man. He didn't say anything derogatory about black people.

  • @TheChampionInMe its racial cos hes talking bout jyd's race. if he was talking bout his bollocks, now that would be sexual. check the top comments, NOT RACIST racial doesnt mean hes being offensive....

  • @TheChampionInMe How is it NOT racial if he talked about his race? "racial" is a different word than "racist".

  • "All thats gonna be left is a big black spot" That made me lol pretty good

  • Fuck you racists Honky's!

  • Honky. Ha Ha. Haven't heard that one in a while.

Whats next, are you going to call me a Jive Ass Turkey?

  • LMAO good one eh?

  • You could tell exactly what Gene was thinking: "Oh, s***, now Jesse Jackson's going to call for a boycott!"

  • @darrinbaker00 ...lol, i agree! you could tell he was thinking "shit maybe we should turn the camera off!" or something. i don't think valentine meant for it to be racist or racial...he was just rambling for the spot.

  • @viciouscanadianvixen Back then, the wrestlers would spend a whole day cutting promos for house shows all over the country. For all we know, that was Greg's 20th promo that day, and he had no idea what he was saying.

  • @darrinbaker00 ...oh i know. that's why i said he was rambling...he probably had something completely different planned and rehearsed but then forgot! lol

  • like come on guys stop taking everthing to heart ..he's a guy who was just doin his job and thats making the fans hate him

  • yo that was the funnest promo ever ...yo he said some real funny shit

  • I have to admit even during the attitude era there was never a race card. Maybe Greg was spicing the promo up to bring more heat to their fued..but at the same time he could have said ANYTHING it could sound racist to some. He could have said Straydog and it might have caused some racial attention

  • @abSOULuteD ...very true. a pic of a monkey placed beside a photo of george w bush didn't cause any kind of stir aside from humor because it was comparing his intelligence and just how much he resembled one. the same photo was placed beside barrack obama and everyone SCREAMED racist when i think it was just done in the same way as it was for bush. of course everyone came out in full force and said it was different in a bad way.

  • @viciouscanadianvixen. You are very ignorant towards American history and the narratives and insults that were directed at black people, and how that was used to justifiy inhumane treatment. White people were never compared to monkeys in order to justify slavery, jim crow and discrimination. Black people were. I say this not to insult you, but you desperately need to educate yourself. You are of no use to humanity being as ignorant as you are about basic history. Good day.

  • @flipgood89 ...there is also reverse discrimination. don't talk to me about education and ignorance pal when it was my country (canada) that helped to end slavery with the underground railroad. there is such a thing as reverse discrimination. there also comes a point in time where people just need to plain shut up and let go of the past. you don't see jewish people all over the media whining, bitching and screaming discrimination at every turn do you? no you don't!

  • @viciouscanadianvixen Black people don't need to let go of anything. All I see is whites like you doing the bitching and trying to pass the buck to us.Stop bitching about 9/11 and "illegal aliens" and canada had nothing to do with ending slavery. You can't even watch a youtube video without spewing your disgusting racist garbage.

  • @viciouscanadianvixen . LOL, u jump right into this bullshit about reverse discrimination, when the subject was the difference in comparing George Bush to a monkey versus Obama. Reverse discrimination? Thats a strategy concocted by racists like you to change the topic from actual racism. And I believe you are a racist. And jewish people arent on the media talking about bigotry against jews??? Thats absurd. Jewish people are known for aggressively combating bigotry. Educate urself, plz

  • @flipgood89 ...jewish people "aggressively" combat bigotry? wtf are you talking about? your race makes itself look bad on it's own without others doing anything. racism and oppression is the first thing you spew out over anything. "your people's" own music, movies, etc., is degrading and uses racial slurs, not "the big bad white man". furthermore, historical novels have had to remove "bad words" for that reason, but it's ok for people of color to use it themselves?

  • @viciouscanadianvixen . Good luck with life....

  • @flipgood89 ...no need to wish me luck dear-i have a nice life because i don't hold on to negativity that involved my ancestors :D

  • @viciouscanadianvixen ....troll.

  • @flipgood89 ...douche (i haven't logged in for over a month lol)

  • @viciouscanadianvixen ....You need to do us all a favor and log off of life you racist bitch.

  • @flipgood89 ...um, you're the one posting every 2 seconds because i made ONE response in the last month. you need to get over yourself and stop bitching and fighting over a situation from over a century ago, move on with your life and GET OVER IT rather than life through the past-racism still runs both ways which you are proving with your comments. i haven't used any racial terms or insults-hypocrite! lmfao

  • @viciouscanadianvixen ....You are a goddamn racist because you insist on positioning racism as some archaic concept that doesnt affect the lives of Black people all across the world. Its like if I said some stupid shit about 'Yeah, women complain about sexual assaults, or rapes, but thats all in the past. You have rights now, stop whining. Dont complain." You are being remarkably insulting and plain ignorant. This is what I get for stayin in on a Friday night. Dealin with an idiot like u.

  • @flipgood89 ...furthermore, jewish people have suffered since the dawn of time, and in worse ways, yet they rise above it-not feed it and constantly harp on it at every turn and chance they get. you're delusional!

  • Comment removed

  • @flipgood89 That's funny cause i'm sure i wasn't offended.. I was jus saying a simple statement. Wow jus wow

  • Nowadays he would have been fired for his comments because of political correctness.

  • He was just saying it like it is, their is nothing wrong with that.

  • The problem with these types of promos is that the black wrestlers weren't allowed to make racial comments in return. Not even the black heels were allowed to make racial comments against white baby faces.

  • there is nothing racist in this promo. fuck you nigger assholes.

  • mean gean knew greg was going to say it as greg was reading his lines off a big card wite in front of him!!!

  • WWF used to play the race card all the time to get heat for the bad guy.

  • I remeber watching JYD wrestle. Black, white, red, purple, it don't f'n matter. He was a hella athlete and great entertainer, and a legend because he got to wrestle in Wrestlemania I. All of those who wrestled in the first ever are legends!

I heard that back then- the 80's- that Greg Valentine was a tough scrapper and could beat up any pro wrestler in a real fight.

  • "I'm gonna rub your nasty black face right into the ring!" I must admit I had a chuckle at this but man that was strong for those days.

  • @Otouto72

    Still is.

  • "All that's going to be left is a nasty black spot." ..... That is terrible but man I can't help but giggle ..LMFAO

  • Mouth of the South isnt so annoying without that damn megaphone.

  • Well, they used anything and everything to get heat back then, and pushed the envelope in this Era of wrestling, all the way into the Attitude Era. Those days are sadly long gone, and so am I, as a fan.

  • LOL the look on Gene's face when Greg Says Nasty Black man

  • Hahaha, I love this promo and I'm black too.

    "That Nasty black man!"

I'm going to start calling myself I'm a nasty black man.

  • haha, thats good stuff!

  • I'm a black man, and I approve of this promo.

  • racial yes, but nothing to get too upset about.

  • best way to draw heat against a black guy who is a fan fav...Hulk Hogan did the race thing against rocky johnson and tony atlas a few times...easy cheap heat

  • Greg valentine don't know how to say Tito Santana and look at Mean Jeans reaction

  • The Hammer wants to look like THE GREAT LEGENDARY RIC FLAIR LOL

  • look at mean genes eyes after he says nasty black man he looks like a little kid introuble lol

  • yeah love it

  • at least he didn't call him a nigga like Booker did Hogan.

  • mean gean looks uncomfortable every time greg says black

  • I don't know where that nonsense about 9/11 came from. No, I do not think Jews are behind that. You're projecting out of hand, buddy. You're the one who sounds paranoid. Not me. You're paranoid about the nature of people who dare point out facts that you think are racist.

  • Greg Valentine is definitely a throwback wrestler. I am suprised that he kept saying black. Ric Flair used to call Rufus R. Jones and Tony Atlas bears. He also told Tiger Conway, Jr. one time that he would be crying for his "mammy" when he got through with him.

  • Valentine in the best shape of his life still = fat

  • Like I've said all along, I never said it was a racist promo, just a racial promo. There's a difference.

  • @jordomac24 Really? Wanna explain the difference?

  • Anyone yes ANYONE that thinks that was racist is a moron.

  • @RS1963 yep and your the bigest moron of all!

  • Uh, blacks say much worse things about whites on tv regularly and it somehow passes as comedy. Fucking Jew broadcasting eats it up. It's only when whites say things (often in self-defense) that it becomes a problem. Whites don't have a special interest groups to lobby for them like minorities do. In fact, one of the reasons I like old school WWF is because of how racially politically incorrect (i.e. honest) it is.

  • @Debaser11 you just discredited yourself with that jew comment. go back to the clan asshole.

  • @moh490234890238490

How can I discredit myself for acknowledging a fact about Jews? Jews own 96% of the media. If it were white gentile men that owned that much of the media and the media was regularly anti-Jew, would I have "discredited" myself for pointing that out? And for the record, the Klan is no worse (in fact, it's probably better in many ways) than anti-white race hustlers like Sharpton or Jackson who regularly appear on the news as legit figures. Whatever. A childish jab from a moron.

  • @Debaser11 i dont like sharpton or jackson as much as you do, there complete charlatans(and is say this as a black man) who where given the title of emperors of black people by guys like you. I can almost see the paranoia you have about the Jews. no different then your typical white supremacist and Islamic radical. let me guess you also think they were responsible for 911 and that the us is a puppet of israel :P

  • @moh490234890238490

You don't even make sense. White people don't like Sharpton or Jackson. All I said was that Jews control the media. And this is easy to verify. They own 96% of it. How is that not controlling it? You call me "paranoid" but if white gentile men controlled 96% of the media (or any institution), people of your elk would not hesitate to point out such a fact. Would you then be "paranoid"? Do Jews not have self-interest which they like to promote like any other group?

  • welfare mom -> greg

  • clowns

  • From what I can gather in the States, to refer to ones self or another person as black seems totally normal, even in this case. If Valentine had referred to JYD as a "cotton pickin' nigger from Alabama or Louissianna that would be different. It may have just been a ploy wind up the fans of JYD.

  • not racist at all, and funny bc valentine, jyd, harley race and iron sheik all traveled together and did a lot of coke together.

  • I'm black, and I think it's funny. :>

  • it's pretty sad they don't call it the intercontinental heavyweight title anymore.

  • vince racist

  • I guess saying black face to a black person is racist now? Last time I looked black people were black. I saw nothing offensive about this interview. Check out Pipers interview where he told Tony Atlas not to touch his watermelon that was racist.

  • @UltMitSinner78 Maybe Piper just really liked watermelon.

The Hammer is just trying to draw heat

"Nasty black man" sounds like Vince wrote it. He tried the same thing with Bret Hart.

  • love mean genes face when greg says the nasty black man

  • Another title fail!

  • @Point4Dave

oh really..so calling someone one "nasty black man"... "sickening growl", "nasty black face" isn't racist at all right? stop being a hypocrite

  • @sayanroy36 Do you even know what hypocrite means? Don't get your panties all tangled up. Want to explain what a "sickening growl" is? I seemed to have missed that one as I never heard it before and I'm 32 years old.

  • @Point4Dave

oh really? really? so you have to insult me. well guess what, i can play dirty as well.so,

i didnt get tangled up on mine bitch, last i checked it was your mom's.

now, why dont you explain to me how "nasty black man" and "sickening growl" (while comparing a black man's voice) isn't racist.

better yet, who talks about a "NASTY BLACK FACE" in 1980s..nah that ain't racist at all!the irony!

32 years have been well spent i can see, maybe you'll do good in kkk or the aryan nation

  • @sayanroy36 Wow you have a lot of maturing to do. Clearly you are far beyond help.

  • You can see Gene Okerlund getting uncomfortable every time he says "black" though.

  • i love racial promos

  • could of been worse, he could of said "that nasty nigger"

  • thats great ... rub his black face in the mat.. and leave nothing but a black stain. to match ... bhahhahaahahahha.

  • hahahaahhahaaahah.......yesssssssssssssssss

  • It's racist because he racialized the thing for no reason. If he were talking about a white wrestler, he wouldn't have mentioned it. When you make it about race, race matters. You can't tell us to get over racism when you drag race into a scenario where it doesn't belong. I will say that, since Valentine was just doing his job and it was almost 30 years ago, I'm over it. But don't pretend it wasn't racist. It was supposed to be. It's why Greg Valentine was one of the great villain.

  • @slimmsayton oh shut up.

  • What if he'd said "I'm going to rub that nasty STEVE black man into the canvas"?

  • "nasty black man"

  • @OptimusPrimeribs Well, he does have a point....they are nasty.

  • @islamSUCKSballs~Blacks are nasty people. That's why white women love us SO much!

  • Hmm. It seems like Mean Gene was actually getting offended! As a Black Man myself, I would give this a 4 out of 10 as racially offensive. No too bad really, but one must understand that heels got over with these comments. If you think this is bad, check out a old promo with Roddy Piper vs. the Guerreros (& they were friends).

  • Saying JYD is black is automatically racist?

  • BLACK Spot?

  • Love the look on Mean Gene's face immediately after Valentine says "Black Man" hehe.

  • woooooo! fuckin trash bag hoe! fuck valentine!

  • all these guys were buddies when the cameras weren't rolling, its entertainment people!!!

  • Was the promo "racial"? Well, yea. Was it "racist"? No. Remember, those are two different terms.

  • LOL

  • "That nasty black man" ..."Brutus Beefcake...MY Beefcake" wow...80's wrestling promos, they'd never say that shit now. The 80's is a parody of real life!

  • lol mean gene's reaction to the second 'black' comment was funny

  • Perhaps it was this interview that inspired the legendary Booker T promo. Which also featured Mean Gene! Damnit, that guy is a magnet for racism.

  • it seemed like he mentioned his blackness in a negative way like he hated the music and i dunno sounded racist. no jyd was not a blue man he was black, but if he was gonna wrestle a white man he wouldnt call him a white man 3 times in the same promotion. he mentions tito santana too, then he calls brutus 'his beefcake' like hes profiling himself as being gay. wow lotsa shit goin on there

  • Mean Gene is pretty uncomfortable there lol

  • That old Intercontinental belt looked like crap

  • This was fucking awsome

  • the giant just drove off after he smashed the persons car lol so if your car was smashed aug 96 in clearwater bch in front of the pink strip mall is was the BIG SHOW AND I SEEN IT WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • haaaaa. I got a story to tell about the hammer g.v im 29 yr old male from columbus ohio and in 1996 i was 16 and went to clearwater beach fl with my friends family we stayed at the clrwtr. bch. hotel and across the street was a place to eat and i seen greg v and the giant aka big show coming out big show took a pic with me and g.v got into a rust bucket caddy with 2 fat trashy ladies lol i felt bad 4 him. the giant was parked between 2 cars in is 95 blue bronco he backed up smashing a car then

  • another white bites the dust lol

  • valentine, cant stand them niggers and spics!

  • WTF?!!!

  • IM a black guy and it wasnt racist..just good old fashioned wwf shit talkin lol..Lets move on people.

  • @porn1978 I remeber a Baltimore promo when Slaughter was calling out and referring to him as Rocky "Sambo" Johnson. Circa 1984.

  • @porn1978 I've been watching WWE/WWF over 25 years now, up from around this time period. With that said, I'm also a black man and feel that this company has done a SHITTY shitty job with how they (fail to) really push their black talent, ESPECIALLY the black guys on their roster now (ALL of whom should be champions and/or headlining main event matches, maybe besides Ezekial Jackson). I think the LEAST WWE could have done (and CAN do) is not always embarass the hell out of them at every turn!

  • @marcusrob02 Ron Killings sucks.Benjamin was given plenty of oppertunties and failed.Kofi failed when he was given big time with Orton.Mark Henry flat out sucks. And please don't tell me Michael Tarver deserves to be headling. The guys on the roster are just nto good. There are not many good black wrestlers, its just how it is its not about race its about who's good. Quite frankly the WWE today isn't that good. Besides I think Booker would have to disagree with you because of all his title reigns

  • @marcusrob02

yeh they could have done so much with natural butch reed, do remember him? that goes way back!

  • Gene Okerlund's reaction is classic...

    "Oh please!"

I also like Howard Jones "Things Can Only Get Better" carrying us to the commercial...

  • Jimmy Hart used to hit the charlie before he did these promos lol

  • Haha Mene Gene looks like "wtf"

  • Him just saying ''Black'' does NOT make it racist

  • LOL-

  • lol-GREG VALENTINE IS A REAL CHAMPION !!!

  • I never saw this match, but I am sure Santana Pwn3d Beefcake that night in the ring.

  • "I'm gonna rub your nasty black right in! Right into the ring, you understand? And all that's going to be left is a big black spot."

    O_O

WHAT THE HELL??? Seriously, what the hell?

  • "My Beefcake"...? I always wondered.

  • mean gene is classic

  • Man, wrestling was so entertaining to watch back in those days...The interviews seemed so legit compare to the crap you hear today....

  • jyd should have been crowned champ

  • WHAT THE HELL IS WITH THAT BELT?!?!?! Times sure hahahave chahahahahanged!!! haaaaahaaaahaaaaaahaaaaahaaaaaahaaaaaaaaa!!!!!! HAAAAAAAHAAAAAHAAAAAHAAAAHAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

  • @ryanoasis1 That was the Intercontinental Belt....before he destroyed it.

  • lol lol

  • that nasty black face XD

  • With that, folks it's hammer time!

  • Good stuff!

Forgot how good Greg was on the stick.

  • This was nothing. I remember Flair and the Andersons beating Rufus R. Jones up and putting a chauffeur's cap on him. Flair often referred to Rufus as "a big black bear" also. So this was hardly anywhere near as insulting as that.

  • I grew up on N.W.A. Central States Wrestling (Kansas City Territory) And I remember Flair doing that..........

  • i remember when hogan called tony atlas a brown clown during a promo, in those days people weren't so up tight about things like that. if you're a heel it's what you did to get the fans to hate you and glazz85 is right i remember cryme tyme calling i think miz white boy lol
