You would be better off worshiping the Hershey's lip balm...unlike the Bible it doesn't give specific instructions on how to hold slaves and not to mention that whole blood and flesh sacrifice fetish...
Wow ! Your insights to this book are God given. I got to your channel via the Yelling Aussie. I used to be like him. I hope he falls in love with Jesus. It will be amazing to have that conversation then. He shares a similarity to Jesus. Christ hated hypocrites as well. Too bad there's so many in the churches. The true "Church" are as sheep among wolves and some of the wolves are sitting right next to us in the church building. Thanks for the laughs and the insights, Andrew
Didn't Yahweh talk to Adam, Eve, Moses, Abraham, Jacob, and a bunch of other people? Also, he walked around in the garden of eden in a physical form in the story, and he also appeared in physical form when Abraham saw him and had him over for dinner. And another thing, he "spoke" the universe into existence magically, but Jesus was born like everybody else out of his mother. He wasn't poofed out of magic like the world in the story. So John fails. It's just a bunch of poetic nonsense.
@PluralOfEverything Your understanding, imo, is so off that it is hard to correct you. At least some of your information is accurate. I think you are using non sequitur.
@ASealUponThineHeart My understanding is off from what you want to believe, but it's hard to say how I'm wrong when I'm not. Yahweh was already flesh in the old testament, so John talking about how his becoming flesh was a huge deal like it was the first time it had ever happened is a load of crap. How can you believe such a badly written story?
@PluralOfEverything It hard to say how you're wrong because you drift so far from evidence, turning possibilities into your own doctrine like G_d as flesh in the OT.
"John talking about how his becoming flesh was a huge deal like it was the first time it had ever happened is a load of crap". Well I suppose that's because that was not John's point even IF that was what he was talking about.
@ASealUponThineHeart Who as flesh? I need a name, not a bleeped out word like you're saying something wrong.
John's point was clearly that Yahweh became a being of flesh and bone, something that he already was according to the old testament. I'm using what's written in the book itself to back this up. For instance, Yahweh being heard walking and talking in the garden by Adam after the forbidden fruit incident and Abram seeing Yahweh walking in desert with two angels, also physical beings.
(Abram might have been Abraham by then. I'm not sure. I will provide chapters and verses if you want to challenge me on this. Don't just tell me I'm reading it wrong. Tell me how.)
@PluralOfEverything "Don't just tell me I'm reading it wrong. Tell me how." I really respect you for saying that because many people on youtube don't see conversation that way and I mostly gave up trying with the how.
@ASealUponThineHeart Too many people on youtube get overly emotionally involved with religious discussions. Actually it's like that everywhere, and it's disappointing because I love debating with people who can do it respectfully and calmly without pulling punches.
@PluralOfEverything Do you really not know why I typed "G_d". If you really don't then, with respect, you have alot more to learn before you should start teaching other people about the bible.
You say that you are "using what's written in the book itself to back this up" but what hermeneutics are you using? What scholarly paradigms are behind your thinking? There is more to an analysis of scripture than just reading the text. It is super easy for a person to silp into a superficial reading.
@ASealUponThineHeart I can only read what is written there. You could say I'm reading a mistranslation or the wrong version, but so are the believers. We are just reading it differently. They are reading it with supporting their beliefs in mind. I am reading it with logic in mind.
@ASealUponThineHeart No I don't know. You will have to explain it to me because I don't like to make assumptions about people.
I'm using my brain. Christians use theirs to interpret scripture in a way that strengthens their faith. I'm using mine to interpret it in an unbiased way. Again, don't tell me I'm reading it wrong. Tell me how, and explain what you think is the right way.
Good video, but I would point to my latest video focusing that the gospels are not reliable. John is one of my favorites, because how much it disagrees with the rest of the NT.
I wonder if your next video will be regarding another book in the NT, and if you will be aware of it being one of the many forgeries in the NT. Cant wait :)
our God is greater ! :D sing that in my schools mass ^-^
