Had this game counted, Utah would be the 2008-2009 National Champion. Therefore, this game had absolutely no repercussions on who won the national championship, and it might as well have not been played.

One thing I hate about this is all of the comments by the talking heads running down Vanderbilt. In case they haven't noticed, Vandy isn't exactly a whipping boy team any more, and a loss to them isn't exactly a huge shocker these days. They aren't SEC title contenders (yet) but they aren't like they were even a decade ago either.

Vandy has shown stark improvement throughout the last decade, and it's the old college football mentality that the way you were 30 years ago is still a reflection of the way you are now. Vandy was a solid team in 2008, and a loss to them was no more embarrassing than a loss to any other SEC team.

@fossilfiction A lot of those games were very close (just about every Ole Miss game was decided by a slim margin for example.) Win/loss records don't always paint the whole picture. Vandy is not the pushover team everyone makes them out to be, and all you have to do is watch their games to see that.

fact is, Ole Miss has owned UF in recent years. Ole Miss is 3-1 vs. UF since 2002 and UF's only win came against a squad that didn't win a single SEC game. Furthermore, 2 of those 3 victories were in the swamp.

Ole Miss is the real deal. I was really hurt after this game. I said, why didn't they kick the field goal, or how'd they miss the extra point? But I can say now, that the loss probably was good for Florida. After that game, they took no one lightly, and were totally different after. And to tell truth, I really think that mentality off taking no one lightly and playing every game as hard as you can is going to carry into this year.

I agree with you. If it werent for this game i highly doubt Florida would have done as well as they did. I am a die hard Ole Miss fan but i do admit we were not better than Florida. Florida simply overlooked us and for some reason we have Florida's number. No matter what team we have we always play Florida close and most of the time beat them. @steviems I know this is from a year ago but GREAT POINT! I am a die hard Buckeye fan. People bashed on us when we lost to Purdue. They play us well every year though. It is not a guranteed win for us. They are not that bad of a team either. You have teams that just play you well regardless of rank or record.
