I too lived there from 65-67 with my father, Ron Chidgey, who was in the RAF. Happy memories - intensified as we had been separated for one year as Dad helped with the confrontation in Borneo. Halcyon days, never to return... Amazing to have such well kept colour footage - do you have any more?
you were born at Old Changi Hospital?! IT IS HAUNTED. i went to a party down at changi once and we went to OCH and it was scary as hell. broken windows, no lights and scary shadows. so scary.
OMG! Swam in Changi swimming pool in 1960!!!!!!! Is that me on the diving board? Ha! Lived in Singapore 1960-1963. Once saw a croc swimming in the sea just near that pool. So many memories. Tiger Balm gardens. Gully Gully men. Old ladies with bound feet hobbling along(now outlawed of course). Campongs. Old World Gardens. New World Gardens. Pink Ice balls. Night markets. Wyang. Mandarin gentlemen with long pigtails and long curved fingernails. Very different in those days. Thanks for this contesa
This brings back memories - served RAF Changi from 1964 to 1967 (years of confrontation). These items ought to be copied to the RAF Changi Association
Really Good stuff. I am a Singapore Brat, born in Changi 1959 and never been back since coming to England in 63. I hope to return next month to see what remains.
Quite fascinating to know that the Changi Beach Club had already existed back then as an RAF Officer's Club. Changi is one of my favourite places in Singapore - a place where old and new, nature and humanity seems to meet in harmony.
nice bit of film i was in cyprus till april 1962 back in england posted to raf cranwell arr on the monday posted to singapore on friday [five days at cranwell ] six months it singapore just home in time for the winter i think i shoveled snow from dec to march clearing runways such is life signed dick age 68 years old
Where on earth did you get this video from? It's excellent, cleat footage - and there's not much around liek this showing (in colour) what Singapore was like almost 50 years ago.

Another Singapore brat reporting! Thanks for posting, brings back so many memories.
Stationed at Seletar then Changi between 1966/69 (I attended Changi Grammar), we 'brats' were lucky enough to really "live the dream'.
Our last few days in Singapore were spent in a transit block. My friends would come around after school, and I still remember the sadness of leaving.
To the people of Singapore, who made us so welcome, all my fellow brats, thank you for being part of such great memories.
