  • Even getting a game over was cool

  • Prelude... it's magic

  • @Veggis92: Nobuo was the best, we can agree on that much. :)

  • awesome. i've been surfing this list for two hours and it just gets better and better. do you have a full list up somewhere or downloadable?

  • Honestly, saying this is from Final Fantasy VII is kinda unnacurate. Sure, it was in that game, but it also was in pretty much every other FF out there that I've played (And I've played up to X-2, excluding IX).

Another thing: I think VII is overrated. Sure, it's a good game, but I think people like it more than it deserves. I think this is probably because it brought 3D to the series, but I think there are other FFs that are better, like IV, V or VIII

  • @masterplusmargarita I will agree that it's overrated, but let me just say, there are reasons people like it more. I recently played ff7(yeah, i'm a late bloomer) and he hype I got from wanting to play it... Let's just say it was disapointing(music is the best though), but i am willing to say that it is the best FF game. Truthfully, I like ff4 more, because I played that as a child. ff8, I'm still working on, so no comments except that I love the story so far.

  • @masterplusmargarita It is not overrated. You must understand that this game brought a heck load of peoples into a genre they didn't give a damn about. Sure the story isn't that original, the graphics suck, some moments are cringe worthy, etc. I'll give you that. But how many games can turn a casual gamer into a jrpg fanboy ? If it wasn't for #7, I know I wouldn't have played the other games you mentionned.

  • *gawd X3

  • I wish I could rewind time so I could play this game for the first time again~ T.T These games are just EPIC, and there's nothing like playin' 'em for the first time an' gettin' that feeling inside where you're like 'omfg, this is AWESOME~ O.o' Thank gwad for Uematsu-dono, his beautiful scores are half the magic of Final Fantasy~ ♥♥♥♥♥

  • @RadicalEdwardBK I know what your saying :(... it's sad knowing you are never gonna get that feeling again unless u lose your memory lol :(.....

  • @RadicalEdwardBK i get that feeling everytime i play this game, no game will ever capture me like this did and i was never into RPG's at the time.

  • Hmm... I'd say I prefer VI's version (a flute is much prettier than a clarinet and violin IMO), but the Prelude is the Prelude, and this is still brilliant.

  • Amazing music.

  • I've already cried to that music.

  • the way this piece is arranged at 0:47 is the reason the FF7 version of the prelude is the best. it beats you over the head with fantastic memories you couldn't have unless you've lived in a final fantasy world - but the closest you ever get is playing the game.

    ...ahhh, the power of storytelling...

  • Hey guys, I have uploaded a alternate version of this song here:

    watch?v=4Q5Q7QuK9H8

  • i just got the goosebumps of nostalgia at 0:47

  • My disc has broken so I can't get passed the first bit :(

  • when that sound (whatever it is) comes in at 0:47 i feel a wave of nostalgia wash over me.this song i can truly say, without a doubt is one of my very favorite song ever.

  • This is the best. Arpeggios never sounded so good.

  • During production rehearsals we warm up our voices by chanting the tune.

  • GODLIKE.

I also recomend Motoi Sakuraba. He's also great, especially pieces from STAR OCEAN 3,"Around the wilderness",and "Expiration".The Main Star ocean theme is also awesome.

  • @WolfgangAmadeusF Don't forget Golden Sun!

  • The great thing about Final Fantasy music under Uematsu was that a number of themes kept popping up as staples of the series; however, each time they were improvised and tweaked to give them a new flavor while keeping their classical origins. This, the main theme from the first game, the chocobo theme, and the victory fanfare are all good examples.

  • Hey, I disagree, Crisis Core VGM was very good too.

    But, overall... Well, we miss Nobuo Uematsu ;-;

  • Sometimes when I didn't want to jump right back into this amazing game, I would let the credits and this song run a cycle. Great music right here.

  • amazing!.....that this song, while in its simplicity is only 4 notes going up and down 4 octaves in different key signatures, came from a man who had no college education and only took 10 min to come up with it.......genius.

  • @strifedavid bethoven did something similar and its one of the most recognized songs in the world, dun dun dun, dun dun dun dun, dun dun dun dun, dun dun, dun da.

  • The people that were mentioned in the credits are geniuses. Final Fantasy is one of the best Japanese RPG's ever!

  • best prelude theme in the series

  • I love that with the music from this game, I can automatically see where it's played and when. I remember all the stuff associated with it; characters, story, everything. That's why I love VII's soundtrack.

  • The music made this game, and it being 3d at the time, and having a wonderful story, and a main character that died was very moving to me at the time, and... oh forget it, it was just plain wonderful.

  • 7 even had the best prelude

  • nobuo is a genious

this game is the best rpg of world

  • I love both the old and the new FF music. FFXIII has some incredibly awesome themes. I'd especially listen to the battle theme, Snow's Theme and the final boss music. So...epic.

But of course, no-one can forget the amazing prelude. Hail to you, Nobuo.

  • Come on people, freacking move on, it´s not like Nobuo was the best game composer in the world. One fo the best yes, and I´ll never forget him. But we seriously need to move on and make room for newer composers. and the recent FF music has been buttsecks awesome to me, i´m doing just fine without Nobuo, with that said, I hope he lives another 50 in plenty good health.

  • Even Nobuo would agree with you

  • This is definitely the song I think of when anyone mentions any final fantasy no mater what. It is THE final fantasy song.

  • Holy Jesus... When it hits you, around 0:46 seconds... Its MOVES you.

    So good.

  • @Huitzel Nobuo is...amazing. Sure a lot of other composers of Final Fantasy music are also amazing but nobody can beat Nobuo...

  • screw FF13 and its Leona Lewis, this stuff is the shit. Bring it back xD

  • @Bloodthirst1011 Don't worry I am 20 hours in and I have not heard it once! The actual FF13 music is very very good stuff. Search for the FF13 prelude, battle music and boss music. Inspiring!

  • Simply put: This is a song I will never forget.

  • Happy birthday Nobuo.

Please come back to Final Fantasy. We miss you there.

  • Nobou Uematsu himself needs to see this. :)

    Happy Birthday Nobou! :D

We all love the Final Fantasy series! ^^

  • this is epic

  • @Veggis92 well he came back in ffXIV and he is coming in ffXIII-2 :D

  • @tristram599 well it was about GOD DAMN TIME

  • @Veggis92 He was only gone for one game...

  • @Veggis92 I sense a Umatasu-san fanboy >_> It's widely regarded that FFXIII, even with its mixed reception by fans, has an amazing soundtrack. Though I doubt you ever played that game.

  • @julienlego hahaha show me where it is widely regarded as an amazing soundtrack? The title theme and the battle music were the only 2 that stood out to me and were memorable. No prelude, no FF theme, no good boss battle music...I just didn't like most of it.

  • @GameMasterSoko RPGFan, GameStop, SquareEnixMusic, pick any of them. They all say that XIII has an amazing soundtrack. It's very different from the other soundtracks done by Nobuo. Essentially, like the game itself, it's the next evolution of the franchise. I could go on and on analyzing the soundtrack, but I won't to save your patience.

  • @GameMasterSoko The point you made that the only tracks you enjoyed was the title and battle music. That shows that the soundtrack didn't have a big impact on you. That said, it's highly likely that you just didn't enjoy the game. Not all FF games need a prelude or the main theme. FFX didn't have the prelude.

  • @julienlego Yes it did. At the start of the game, when Tidus is being swarmed by his adoring, annoying fans, a sped-up Prelude plays over a bouncy dance track. I didn't notice it for years though, so I can't blame you for not noticing it either.

  • @CoJaPo100 I was talking about the soundtrack to FFXIII....

  • @julienlego "FFX didn't have the prelude." That's what I was replying to, not your comments about FFXIII.

  • @CoJaPo100 True, it didn't have "the" prelude, but it did have "a" prelude.

  • @GameMasterSoko And as I recall only the older FF games had some version of the main theme. Also keep in mind that we're not in the '90s anymore. Look at Nobuo's recent work in FFXIV and see how it's different from his earlier works.

  • @GameMasterSoko cuz ur an idiot and have no musical talent?

  • The first time I listened to this and started to watch those credits I wasn't aware of the overwhelming experience that was about to begin... in the end, I understood those names belonged to geniuses...hail to the old Squaresoft

  • I Like this I approve ^_^

  • I used to not be very fond of this arrangement of the Prelude, but it is growing on me.

  • ^_______^ i'd turn it on just to hear this....

if it was the first time that day i started playing it, i'd listen to this whole thing first <3333

  • i had to play this on my PC because i didnt have a Playstation. This played during installation, was hooked from then on.

  • How can you NOT get all fuzzy inside hearing this? :D

  • hmm...prelude theme from FF7.

  • He who?! O__O

  • I did not mean for this to be offensive, btw who is he tho? Everybody here apparently knows of him and I never heard of him.....

  • Nobuo Uematsu is the absolute GENIUS composer who, for about 20 years, did the majority of the music in Squaresoft's games. He left the company a short while after FFX, to focus on his band. He basically remixes his own songs now.

From the 80s to the early-2000s, if the game was made by Squaresoft, you could be pretty sure that he was involved in it.

  • Classic Melody... Thanks Nobuo!

  • man, this song just makes you wanna pull out the old FF collection and get sucked into those amazing adventures again....

  • The background orchestra make this song.

  • The childhood memories make this song. :)

  • Happy Belated as well Uematsu-sama. I'm happy to know his b-day falls on a March like mines, which is this 27th. Cheers. :D

  • NOBUO UEMATSU = GOD

    I LOVE YOU

  • Happy Birthday Mr. Uematsu, you really made a difference.

  • Happy Birthday Keep up the amazing work!!!

  • Happy birthday to my favorite composer of all time! Please keep it up for us! My favorite is still all of your Chocobo themes. :)

  • Happy birthday Nobuo Uematsu!

  • take my ass back a few years

  • back to the fantasy...such great memories...

    happy b-day Uematsu-san! XD

thank you SOOO much for the upload

    -LokiHeart

  • Happy birthday, Nobuo. Your music has meant so much to me throughout the years.

  • Uematsu*

    Whoops :S

  • Otanjou-bi Omedetou Gozaimasu*, Nobuo Umeatsu!!!!! :D

*Happy Birthday in japanese, awesome tho IMO

  • brings back a lot of good memories...

  • Happy Birthday, Nobuo Uematsu!

He is the man who made the Final Fantasy series. It doesn't feel like a proper Final Fantasy without him.

  • Happy Birthday Nobuo Uematsu :)

  • Did not know this little fact. Happy Birthday good sir.

  • this man.... is only 50

i mean i knew that, but in the 25 years i have been alive

he's used his last 25 years

to compose some of the greatest music of our time

and let it sink in real deep

with thousands upon thousands of hours

    during battle

    and i'm

    constinatly astounded

  • Happy Birthday Nobou Uematsu. So much good music in his career, he should be proud.

  • Happy 50th to Nobuo Uematsu; the John Williams of Japan.

  • Happy Birthday Nobuo Uematsu! Nice job with all of your music!

  • I've been waiting for this one!

Very nostalgic tune, kinda sums up the emotional content of the game.

  • Happy Birthday Uematsu-San.

    What a classic song...

  • (claps) oh, what FF is complete without some remix of the prelude?

Thanks SupraDarky, and thanks Nobuo Uematsu. Mr. Uematsu, you have composed some of the best video game songs ever.

  • I was at a Play! A Videogame Symphony yesterday and heard his One Winged Angel played live. They should've said it was his birthday today...

    Happy Birthday Uematsu-san!

  • One of the most classic, songs in the RPG world. I am so glad I have this as my ring tone.

    Happy Birthday Nobuo Uematsu

  • Happy birthday Nobuo Uematsu you are truly a genius when it comes to music!

  • wow, Nobuo Uematsu's is the same age as Barbie. That's pretty cool. 1959 was definitely a good year to be born. It was during the baby-boomer era.

  • Happy 50th Birthday Uematsu-sensei :D

  • As soon as that twinkling sounds starts --- I relive all the memories of that great summer and year -

Here's to maxing out the total game time on FFVII

  • Marvelous... You heard us Supra... thanks a lot.

  • Easily a candidate for #500, but since this is Nobuos birthday, then by all means a perfect placement. epic!

  • Happy birthday to Nobou Umeatsu.

May he continue to compose great music.

  • This piece of music managed to keep me (fresh home from purchasing the game on Sept 7th) from playing the game for a whole 3 minutes.

    Happy birthday Mr. Uematsu!

  • One of the most endearing modern compositions.

    Happy Birthday Uematsu Dono!

  • Everything Uematsu composes is just fucking awesome.

  • happy birthday nobou uematsu!

  • Long live Uematsu-san!

  • The guy who composed CT...

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY DUDE, YOU RULE!

  • Happy Birthday Nobuo-sama. Hope you'll return in my country soon for another concert!

    You're the best

  • Happy birthday Mr. Uematsu!

    ハッピーバースデー 植松様!

  • his work is amazing...

  • Happy Birthday Mr Uematsu!

    Keep up the good work^^

  • Beautiful music. I listen to FF music while I work and its very inspiring. Thank you Nobuo Uematsu.

  • Realy Great! Happy Birthday Uematsu! ^^

  • The crystal theme is a classic

    Happy birthday Nobuo!

  • Perfect choice for this special occasion SupraDarky, simply perfect =D

I personaly prefer the version from FF VI, but it doesn't matter that much. Prelude is brilliant in every FF!

  • I like the one in FFIV the best.

  • Usematsu, one of the founding fathers of video game music. :) But even the work he does today is awesome.

  • The Prelude, lovely melody, in the Final Fantasy series.

  • Happy birthday Mr. Uemetsu! Even though there's no way you'll be reading this! =P

Seriously, a great composer. One of my favorites.

  • Happy Birthday, Mr. Uematsu!

  • CLASSIC.

  • Awesome, prelude is one of my favorite FF songs. Nobuo Uemetsu-sama is my favorite composer.

  • Uematsu is the all time best video game composer!

  • A perfect gift for Uematsu-sama, if I say so myself

  • Thumbs up just for the respective Japanese title.

  • He deserves to be called "-sama"

  • Which is why I gave you the thumbs up.

  • Happy birthday Mr. Uematsu! One of the best composers in all of video games, I'd go so far as to call him THE composer. So many classics, that the only way to count them is to read the back of each OST disc and count :P.

  • i love Prelude, this song represents final fantasy.

  • Happy birthday Nobuo Uematsu! You´re one of the best out there!

  • The song that represents the Final Fantasy series for Uematsu's birthday! I chose FFVII but I could have chosen the Prelude from any of the other games. Thanks to Tsusho1 for reminding me.
