Nice video, very detailed and wellshot. But I think the 'it's upto you to reduce the risk' seems to be aimed at motorcyclists only as opposed to many other roadusers. I find pedestrians are very dangerous roadusers... they can change their speed direction so fast... and still expect the motorcycles to slow down/stop from highspeed for them... why don't they know that its far easy to come to a stop for them... not the motorcycle...
Hey Raptorama; I take it then you think that the way you ride would be exaggerated if a camera is attached to your bike, the message is quite clear and does point out that we are very vulnerable when on our bikes. This video is a message to both bikers and alert the general public to look out for us.
Hey Taffs, "It's up to you to reduce the risk" is a very valid and good point. I just don't like the ending. Think of all the moms in this world that would forbid their youngsters to even get started on two wheels after seeing this. I don't think motorcyclists needs reminding of what can happen if it all goes wrong. To change peoples behaviour I believe in a more balanced view. Fear scares the wrong people, not the target audience.
Nobody likes the ending, thats the whole object of the video. Lets be frank about this, take risk and expect to pay the price, that is the message I have given to all my family and friends who ask my advice about taking up biking. The roads are way more congested now than ever therefore the risk are far greater.
And if you think they are picking on the bikers, take a look at some of the other Transport Accident Commission vids aimed at the car drivers. Wish they did them like that over here in the UK
Fantastic film work, but what utter nonsense to try and scare off more new bikers and the general public in this way. Are you going to warn parashute jumpers by filming somebody being squashed into the ground at 125mph? Will we warn soldiers to be careful in the armed forces by showing troopers getting their heads blown off? Or why not make a video about bicyclists being squashed under a bus in rush hour?
Well the difference is the motorcyclists in this video were all being obnoxious and not making good decisions. In the case of a soldier or parachute jumper, there really have no say in what happens to them.
Scaremongery is not the way forward. Filming onboard on motorcycles will always look exaggerated. Remember that a car driver always has a hood of a car in front and are not used to seeing riding this close up. It looks faster and more dangerous than it is. I see the point but I do not approve of this method to make that point. Would love to work with this film crew on one of my vids though.
The honk in the end is a bit unrealistic.

That video reminds me how much I miss riding. Only a couple more months left!
As for the scare tactics - people who don't ride are already scared enough and the ones that do have bikes are aware of the risks.
