No, you miss quote this verse. "he was in the world." meaning, he predated the fact that he is in heaven now. 'was' is being used in the past tense. Since Christ is not in the world now, when John wrote John 1:10, it is correct to say that "was" meaning his earth experience predated his present one. "In the beginning WAS the Logos..." means he predated the beginning. In Vs3 it states that Christ created everything, this would include Time. Time includes Past, Christ predated Past. i.e Eternal.
@pretoshohmoofc How did I misquote it? I understand that the text refers to the time past when he was in the world. That is never denied, but the statement "he was in the world" does not mean he existed before the world (I confess he did, but this does not teach as much). Similarly, "In the beginning was the Word" does not necessarily mean he existed before the beginning, only at the time of the beginning. This is pointed out in the video.
@scripturaltruths You said in your video, "he was in the world, well, the world is not eternal, So he couldn't have eternaly been in the world." Noone is saying "was" means eternal." Since Christ is not in the world now, when John wrote John 1:10, it is correct to say that his earth experience predated his present one in heaven today." "He was in the world." means that he no longer is in the world. Referring to his past. "He sits at his Father's side." Is in the present.
@scripturaltruths Again, you are not litening to my argument. I stated that in Vs. 3 it tells us that Christ created all things. This would include Tme. Time =Past, Present and Future. If Christ created Past, this means that he predated Past. So Christ MUST be eternal. Christ came before Time.
@scripturaltruths John 1:3 says, "All things came into being through him, and apart from him nothing came into being that has come into being." The Aposlte John even uses a double negative. "...and apart from him nothing came into being that has come into being."
That means EVERYTHING was created By Christ. This would include himself, which is absurd.
@pretoshohmoofc of course you are ignoring the immediate context.... But I'm not going to discuss this with you if you are unwilling to consider the evidence.
@pretoshohmoofc Time didn't start when Christ created all by his father's power who delegated(empower)Jesus to create all. Time started when Jesus was born before all, which necessitates space+time=dwelling place. So where was Jesus dwelling place at his birth before all? Christ as a man on earth was subject to time and space. Time, because he was born, which started his days(time) on earth. Space, because he inhabited it on earth, which contained him, not so with the father it can't contain him
@pretoshohmoofc The father is timeless and spaceless, he is not a creation, which implies all creation nor Jesus can't cantian all that the father is. Therefore there was no one before him nor after him, for he was all that was, meaning nor was no creation, only him.
Before I even comment on anything I would like to know where were you educated in the biblical greek language? Not that this is the most important thing but you're speaking as you are educated in greek and if anyone is trying to school me I believe I have the right to ask there background in it. Thank you.
I began studying the language on my own about 8 years ago. Since then I ever so briefly attended Criswell College for koine, followed by studying classical with Robert Welch University. Having said that, I don't say anything particularly new here, but everything is based upon the application of scholarship in Greek and general linguistics
I never said you did. Thank you for your honesty. There are folks like SOTB who try to make it seem that they are knowlegable in greek when put to the test you find out he really is not. at the time of this writing i'm on break at work, but I will view the video in it's entirety. God bless.
As I mentioned at the beginning of the video, it may well help you to read the first part of chapter 6 in my book God and Christ. What is here summarized is there discussed with greater depth so to be more understandable.

@pretoshohmoofc By the context of my statement it should be clear I referred strictly to eternity past.

@pretoshohmoofc please see my videos on John 1:3 as that is simply not accurate.
