  • From my favorite bootleg. Especially this concert's version of Incident.

  • breathtaking! *.*

  • Wow. Thank-you! Outstanding.

  • Strings performed by Suki Lahav. Was touring with the band at this time. Apparently her husband was doing Bruce's sound and he was jealous of something brewing between her and Bruce. ...as I know it. She's amazing

  • this entire recording is so amazing I want a bootleg -- the Incident on 57th street is MADNESS

  • @rabbyhahn This bootleg is widely available with great quality

  • who's doin' strings?

  • I bet Dylan wished his recording of this song sound just like this. Thanks Bob and Bruce

  • this has touched my soul. i can't even express the emotions. simply amazing - the passion; energy; soulfulness; - dylan can write the words, bruce brings them alive in your heart...

  • If anyone could speak "dylan-ese" ,the Boss is the next in line. In deserving the A, for accomplished, the Boss is the only one with enough voice capable of carrying the depth of emotion to sing Dylan's songs (though certainly not Dylan-like) - but equilivant on an emotional level - just with a later date. .... Except for Joan Baez .....................................

  • Bruce's truly mesmerising version of the Dylan classic.....the man is truly out on his own as a live performer

  • For you LC with all my love

  • Is there a more truly soulful singer in touch with the better side of humanity than Bruce Springsteen? Is there anyone with a voice able to paint such a rich vista in my head? And this is another of his finest moments ....... marvellous.

  • amazing, thanks Bob , thanks Bruce...!

  • this song makes me feel a better man

  • never heard this before.. fantastic early cover from the boss. Simply magestic, the combo of his rough meloncholy voice mixed with the sweet violin, nothing short of esquisite and memorable; now i'm going to have to dig out myself of copy of this performance. Thanks for posting, it would have passed me by. RiP Mr. Big Man love you and miss you already

  • See video info for how to download this show.

  • love it

  • i was actually at this show before Estreet it was The Bruce Springsteen Band. He opened for Aztec 2 step and never opened again . Nrxt time he had the whole show

  • @redhotburrito1

    I love Aztec Two Step!!

    What year was that?

Must have been '72 or early '73.

I saw them doing the "Simon & Garfunkel Songbook" about a year ago.

    Still great!

  • bruce, i want you.

  • ...you know......hand in hand,

    finding Joy...Learning...

    lovin'......just lovin', Sweetie

  • this is a fantastic version of bob dylans song ... i've seen the boss and band several times in england from 85' to date and great shows each one .. however a little bit of me rues the fact i never got to see him in small venue playing songs like this ... the almost manic euphoric melody is pure dylan but the emotion and energy is pure e street magic .. thanks johnny576375 .. great upload

  • @LiamK54321 Happy to turn people on to something new.

  • april 18th

  • This is just beautiful...bruce's interpretation of dylan's sentiments.... just beautiful.

  • ,,,nice photo ,good interpretation of this Dylan ,song......splendid perspective ,besides that i love Bruce Springsteen!

  • That's not Bruce. A pic as seemingly phony and still-born and up yours as the snobbish Haddonfield town where if your SAT's are not over 1300 you might not graduate (ha). The highest in the state year after year. Give me Haddontownship and acceptance anyday. Well anyway it probably is Bruce but his looks were always changing... marketing. Can wait to hear Bon Jovi, the poor-mans Bruce S.. sing this song. And Bon Jovi once said that The Replacements couldn't be good if he never heard of them .

  • Best impossible. Bruce singing Dylan.

  • pic is '78?? really I dont remember him llokin that skinny then, saw him, alot at kenny's in the village....hah!! Back then, you could get a mid 60's vett for a few hundred!!

  • I was literally being born when that photo was taken.

  • this whole show was released as a bootleg titled "you can trust your car to the man who wears the star'

  • oh just so wonderful, how i wished i could have seen Bruce in the 70s, this sounds so nice.

  • This is a very nice take on an already superb song. I think the main between Dylan's and this is that Dylan's sounds somewhat carefree and upbeat, signifying a somewhat innocent and blossoming love (Even if the lyrics suggest otherwise)

Whereas Springsteen's sounds almost mournful and sad in a way. The arrangement of the instruments and vocal style suggests a great personal loss. I can imagine the two versions at two ends of a film, Dylan's at the start, and this version following a tragic end

  • I like Springsteen singing Dylan . . . his raspy, soulful voice are a good fit for this song . . . and others, too.

  • thank you!!!

  • wow WMMR ! and Bruce does BOB , this is great ! Happy Birthday Bruce

  • @agreement57 If you follow the link in the video info you can download the show or go to the individual songs section and download this version. Beginning to wonder if everyone has annotations disabled.

  • Nothing tops 70s Springsteen!

  • @grbosss im from freehold n.j.---have met Bruce afew times ---------i say it allthe time ---bruce inthe 70s and the River.

  • @grbosss Amen!!

  • Just loving this .....

  • This is my favorite dylan song and the boss just nails it man, great find

  • I want to sing this to my girlfriend.

  • @NTHTD why don't you? :-}

  • Sounds like he wrote it.

  • @dsavereide

    Indeed, his voice suits perfectly.

Dylan's best song and Bruce' best cover ever in my eyes. Just legendary.

  • dats rite cuz corvette summer man maybe 1958 1963

  • Like Bob's version best but this is quite good cos it;s not like a cover it's almost like a different song.

  • @johnny576375 Pretty sure it's a Corvette (don't know the year)- it's now at the Rock n'Roll hall of fame in Cleveland. Saw it last year. It was Bruce's first big gift to himself as a reward for making $ with Born to Run.

  • Almost perfect..Luv ya Bruce, but you missed a few words there hehe

  • It's the Fifth Dimension with Kenny Rogers! Really hip, Bruce, for a mall or an elevator, you moronic dipstick.

  • He really gave it his own twist. What a guy, that Bruce. Love him.

  • Beautiful, i like it! Thanks for the share my lovely friend. Sweet kisses Sylvie

  • oh bruce ..I want YOU...

  • this is the best cover of bob Dylan's I Want you I'v ever heard!!!

  • At first, the vocals made me think of how Tom Waits would do this song. The first lines he sings have that really gruff, ragged quality about it.

  • very Tom Waits,aint it!!

  • this is the bob song bruce has done

  • that Fedirici playing here?

  • It does look a little weird where he is leaning/sitting on the car, but i think it's just the strange angle in which he is sitting.

  • The picture was taken in 1978 in Haddonfield, NJ by Frank Stefanko. It was in his book "Days of Hope and Dreams". It has appeared in the Troubadour of the Highway exhibit, and in Bruce's "Songs" book. The car had mag wheels and tires that are not vintage 1960. Bruce still has the car and had it restored to it's original 1960 style. It's currently at the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame museum.

  • oh im sorry. i guess i was wrong. to me it just looked funny. my bad

  • @pac401 Thank you for all the great info!! Love Bruuuuuuce sooooo much.... Beautiful song! He is simply Brilliant <3

  • @pac401 so he still has the car but its stored at the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame museum?? Doesn't make sense.

  • @mrlisc2 He still "owns" the car. Now I guess it's at his home since the exhibit has ended.

  • Born and raised on Bruce!

  • wow bruce sings one of my bob dylan's song! but bob is far better in this song!

  • Comment removed

  • Make sure you check out the video info for a link to download the show!

  • Best Cover Ever.

  • oh, that voice....... :-)

  • amazing as always the boss

  • this is such a great cover i almost like better than the original bob dylan version sometimes :P

  • world class:=)

  • this version's better.

  • compared to what?

  • No, it's the best

  • Wow this brings back so many memories. I was 19 and saw Jackson Browne and Bruce at the Main Point. What a great place that and the Tower Theatre

  • Yo... you're old. Like me. Those were the days. WMMR, Ed Sciaky, David Dye, Tearson 'til 2. Summers in Wildwood. Those early shows, then the Spectrum shows. I'm gonna be a grandfather. I saw Jackson at the Robin Hood Dell West in the park. I know this is random. Hope to see you at the Spectrum this fall.Thanks.

  • I WANT the picture! lol Song's great of course! But the Pic? Is just Soooo 70's!!

  • it's a great, great version alright..would've been perfect if he wouldn't have forgotten the lyrics somewhere in the middle..one of my fav boots of the man, really something special with that violin in there..

  • sistersue - yes, he had her out for year or so. incident on 57 st is unreal with her

  • The Main Point show from Feb 75 should be the ante for any wannabe Springsteen fan. It is required listening.

    Absolutely brilliant stuff.

  • i think this must be one of the best cover songs of all time. its just moving and all things beautiful

  • this must have been when he had Suki Lahav playing violin with the band. This is great, thanks for posting!

  • i luv the BOSS! he and his music never fades.. a measure of a great music artist!

  • Its amazing how Bruce can take this song and make it just as good as Dylan's version. I love this song and really love the way this gem was performed. Gives me goosebumps.... Bruce and Bob are the best story tellers of are time.

  • You got that right.

  • Oh,and Danny was pure,was he not?

  • So brave for "new Bob" to cover this. Damned heroic to,do it so his own way. The bridge was priceless...,

  • te quiero Brucito, gracias eternas por tu musica

  • I want you Brucy, thank you for ever

  • Wonderful!

  • This makes me want to go out and kiss my best friend, however awkward that would be for her. I love this version of the song so much.

  • MAN THIS IS TOUGH

  • This make me feel like falling in love with every woman I see..

  • have been looking for this for 30 years, i had a scratchy bootleg tape of this as a teenager. thanks

  • Great Version of the song...I'm from the philly area....wmmr rocks

  • This is great, thanks!!!

  • Wow never heard this. I feel like I did when I was a kid and I used to wait for the mail tocome with my latest bootleg ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • la grande epoque ou les etoiles faisaient des disques et ou je voulais acheter le ciel

  • 33 years before, Bruce´s sound is energetic!

I miss Danny Federicci, he is in our heart!

    Thanks for the post!

  • And this points up why this band is completely indispensible...goodnight Danny...

  • this is such a moving, raunchy version and he was only 26 at the time. have seen him 4 times on the recent tours and he still has the magic, and raunchiness!

  • Such a haunting cover!! I love that its sligtly slower than Dylans.. like a music box melody...

  • dylan himself made hundreds versions of his own song, chceck them ;)

  • Great Cover! Tribute to the master. Finest Kind!

  • awesome

  • Fantastic

  • Wonderful wonderful Intro :)) !!!

  • One of my top five all-time Bruce performances, and absolutely the most amazing Dylan cover of all time!

  • I agree! The only one who comes close is Jerry Garcia covering Simple twist of fate with JGB.

  • Grande Dylan e più grande Bruce..

  • Great Love song, and a song perfect to Bruce´s voice.

  • huh, he can sound like like bob dylan somtimes,

but when he sings bob dylans song he sounds different.

  • the ultimate song. BRUUUUUUUUUCE!

  • Sounds like a trio, Bob, Bruce and sometimes you are fooled into thinkin there's some of Van the Man

  • Beautiful version with Bruce opening with the Dylan 'growl,' then sounding more like himself after a minute or two. I love hearing Bruce sing Dylan. He definitely gives them his own raw voice.

  • Bob who? Just joking.

  • Comment removed

  • its an early version, similar to wings for wheels and thunder road

  • That's what I thought. I haven't heard the early version. Thanks for your answer.

  • Wow!! Had no idea this existed.

  • Hey, if it's Dylan-related, it's ALLLLLLLLLL good! :)

  • c'est un trésor, cette chanson...

  • brill

  • i love when bruce sings dylan.

  • Absolutely awesome! :c) 5+Star's!

Very best wishes for health and happiness!

    GinMillBill

  • Absolutely brilliant!

  • Long live the Voice of Springsteen in Philly...Ed Sciaky.."Mom's wholesome radio"..."sorry folks it comes with the price of admission" ..and the Phantom..."all the way from Flemington,N.J."

  • The car is an old Corvette, nice looking but must be very hard to control at curves!

  • Even though they're covers, Bruce should have thrown these ones in the Tracks package

  • R.I.P Danny-we'll miss you

  • sweet car, rip Phantom.

  • this is fantastic i never heard it before and i am a huge springsteen fan for many many years, this is amazing.

  • Been decades since I've heard the Boss do the honors on this one! Lifelong Springsteen fan and growing in my older years to appreciate Dylan too! Thanks so much for offering us this gem....

  • beautiful cover, typical early Springsteen feel about it. Suki Lehav and Danny are great.

    .....thx alot for uploading

  • this is great version....this is little bit more sad than dylan's version

  • absolutly amazing, thanks for uploding this, really made my day

  • Very happy to hear it!

  • Johan... it is a bootleg... I have a copy of it.... the entire show is amazing.

  • Main Point , Philly ,Pa, Area, February 5, 1975.

  • old Bryn Mawr club...now long gone. Jackson Browne and Warren Zevon and Bonnie Raitt all played there.

  • Wow...that was fantastic...thanks for taking the time to share.....from a Bob fan :-)

  • Where did you get the show from ?

aka where can I get it ?

  • Johan,

This is from the best bootleg in the history of Bruce Springsteen music. Live at the Main Point, Bryn Mawr, PA on Feb 05, 1975. I was a young punk in Philadelphia at the time when this was broadcast live on the WMMR 93.3FM. I had this on 8 track tape, then I wore out the vinyl version (You Can Trust Your Car to the Man Who Wears the Star - on the Kornyfone Label, Accept no Substitute) It is readily available on CD thanks to "Mom's wholesome radio" and the magic of bootleggin'.
