I took a peke 2 years ago from the dog-pound. I wish I hadn't. He is a little bastard, he hates absolutely everybody except for my husband, whom he worships.

that's probably 'cause your husband spent more time or he was the first person your peke saw so he's super attatched to him. you have to really spend time with them in order for them to like you. and also, you got him froma DOG POUND which might mean he had a bad owner before and so he's DAMAGED. that means you'll have to spend even more time with him to make him more open. Most pekingese have pretty good personalities

Thanks! You're right, he had a tough time and that's why we will never give up and do our best to mend his damamged soul. He is getting better, though he can still be tough, those are the times I almost regret having taken him - but only almost. The day I wrote the above comment must have been one of those days, I'm afraid...sorry! :-P

good, i'm glad it was only the anger talking. Those little guys are just plain stubborn someetimes. we got ours from a breeder and he's super attatched to my mom. he's 9 years old and he's JUST starting to like my brother. he still doesn't like me as much though. haha :]

Yes, they are stubborn, aren't they? But the minute they fix you with those liquid round brown eyes of theirs, they're like "please please give me a tidbit, I haven't eaten for months..." and everything else is forgotten. :-) By the way, I like your piano playing!

My female Peke, Pompeii, is a complete match in coloring for your male. However, she is fixed due to being a sleeve and I was worried about her having pups with her size.  Good luck on finding a mate for your adorable Peke!

An adult peke is considered a sleeve if they are 6 pounds or under. When they used to be guards for the Emporers in China, they would be kept in the sleeve of his robe.
