dachengdao, don't take it close to heart. It seems that most people in this thread are simply too young to know about old-school Kung Fu movies or even Karate Kid. It is quite clear that your video is inspired by the classic scenes from movies of that type.

It also seems that these "critics" have trouble distinguishing between fiction and reality, which is somewhat disturbing, given how this usually is remedied when a person becomes 6-8 years old.

So, on the topic of film stuff, Here is what I think.

Clearer distinction between different styles. Make it really really clear when two different styles clash.

Better tempo. The fight scene against "Bad A$$" was poorly tempoed. Knocked down, getting up, 2 moves, Knocked down again, it's disturbing the rhythm.

I'm sort of tired now, but we can talk more about this stuff later on if you want.

No, in reality you want to run away. Weapon vs Weapon stuff is'nt really my cup of tea, but I'll tell you this: Let's make a clear separation between reality and films.

We could have made the knife fight more dramatic but in reality you want to disarm as quickly as possible. The styles in this film were Dachengquan (students), Mantis fighting (me), and Monkey (Bad A$$). I have a friend who's the head of a Kali system. Maybe some Kali sticks vs. Mantis staff would look hot.

Ideas for next project? Cross-train. All to many kung-fu practioners fail at seeing the importance of cross training. Get together with people who do Muay Thaï, Judo, MMA, stuff like that. Train with them, learn stuff from them. If nothing else, you should be able to vary your coreographies a little more.

In total, it's a poorly acted cliché kung-fu fantasy, and that's why I find that it did not deserve to win anything. At all.

First off, I find most of the acting in the movie is very low quality, borderline bad. The way the movie develops its plot is also painfully cliché, and the "flashback" in particular is frankly, lame. In short, this movie has very few cinematic qualities, besides clear image and sound.
