@Da40cal oh yes another super star... unfortunately my football obsession started at end of 70's, didn't really see cruyff play or pele, beckenbauer because i was too young... also when english clubs got banned from europe the stopped shoiwing euro club games on tv so didn't see much of van basten... but dalglish was the man when i was growing up, then gazza...

U can only meassure dribbling skills against defenders and the good ones.

From what I've seen, Cruyff was the best player ever. He knew what he had to do and executed it perfectly every time. All of those chips shot goals are stunning, to still score with the goalkeeper not that far from his line is amazing skill

I think Zico and Cruyff are as good as Maradona. But the media does not put that level because they have not won a World Cup.

@xSerialVelocity I agree with you on how complete Cruyff was. However, when you have to rank players there are things like "has he ever won a WC?" that make a big difference. Cruyff didn't, and that's why he's almost never considered the greatest. But, he changed football for ever, he put Holland in a very high (lol cannabis) place, and he also is a unique man: He would have led his team to WC in 1978, but he refused to come to Argentina because of the dictatorship that ruled the country.

@pelevmaradona It's a little hard to entitle someone the best player ever if they were players a long time ago, true they were amazing back then and they were the ones who invented many usefull tricks and feints ( ex: Cruijff turn ) but all of that was years ago when defenders defended another way and tatics weren't so worked... true Ronaldo was great, but i wouldn't classify him as the best all time, but he's up there...

Why keeps everybody calling Maradona or Pelé the very best player ever? Did they also perform great being the manager of a football team? Cruijff did. You guys remember Dream Team 1 from FC Barcelona? The current squad (with Guardiola being the manager and a follower of Cruijff) plays the same kind of football they did back then. And Johan Cruijff invented it.
