hey jeff i was thinking about a bolt action in 223 but then i decided to go with an ar but they all have like 1:9 twist which isnt recommended for lighter rounds. what would the effects be if i did use a lighter round in it?
@Gunblastdotcom Thanks for the info. I've been eyeing up Anderson and BCM Rifle Company AR-15's - tough choice because I like both companies and their builds.
I apologize for the delay in answering. I have been at Gunsite in Arizona shooting some new Ruger products all week, with no access to email.
Yes it does. Quality costs money. Just as they do not grind up rib-eye steaks to make 99 cent hot dogs, quality components make for a relatively high price in an AR rifle..
That one wasn't anywhere near the best group. The group shown in the video was 1", fired with American Marksman Stryker ammo. Best accuracy was Black Hills' 69-grainer at 3/8" Very accurate rifle. Several different loads grouped into 1/2" or less. Very accurate rifle.
@asheradensein Taurus pt111 ended up being my choice for actual holster carry. It's a good compromise that doesn't sacrifice too much accuracy or have a crappy trigger like the keltecs. Nothing wrong with a keltec for pocket carry or something but for holster carry I'd check out other options.

One-in-nine will work very well for bullet weights from 40 to 69 grains.

Nope - dirt's too rocky by far.
It grows fine here in the lush and fertile Tennessee Valley, though!

Hey Jeff, I'm turning 21 and want to buy a handgun to get my concealed carry permit, what would you recommend for an every-day carry type of pistol?

@asheradensein Glock 19 is one to consider.

@asheradensein: ruger lcp .380
enough stop for the pop, light, small, feels good in the hand (or mine at least, you'd have to try it out for yourself)

@asheradensein The Kel-Tec PF-9 is a good edc gun.

It needs to be small enough and light enough to carry everyday, everywhere. For most, that means a small 380 auto or 38 revolver.
