Actually macross the robotech version is almost identical to it's Japanese counter part except of course for the piss awful voice acting and the graphic scenes of violence which where obviously edited for tv purposes, it was southern cross and mospida, the other two shows that where horribly edited to make them a part of the macross universe.

@SirhcCommentatesOn On second thought, please disregard the previous comment I made. Carl Macek was involved with some of Miyazaki's films, but it was from Streamline. The guy I mistaken him for was Jack Fletcher, another voice director.

@marplatense31 Well, that is sort of the catch. It seems that most things that review or cover Lady Death are still good. A good example would be Wizard magazine. They not only reviewed Lady Death books, but they also gave away ashcan books (smaller promo comics), and had posters of her in some issues. Yet, Wizard is still around.

From what I have seen, L:ady Death looks like a cool character, but from what you say, this movie probably by someone who normally specializes in Saturday Morning Cartoons without all the blood and violence. That might explain all the bad animation quality. As for vouice acting, maybe they just weren't interested in it other than the money.
