@willardlockejr Dude you got to get the book "A House on Fire: The Rise & Fall of Philadelphia Soul". It's the closest documentation about TSOP. I found a used copy real cheap on Amazon and have read it twice so far. Let's see, Don Renaldo and the strings and horns, Ron "Have Mercy" Kersey, Lenny Padulka. An author by the name of Tony Cummings published a book about TSOP around 1975 while it was running like a well-oiled machine, long out of print.
Classic Gamble & Huff, Philadelphia International, Sigma Sound, MFSB, Joseph Tarsia, Earl Young, Bobby Eli, Norman Harris, Don Renaldo, Bobby Martin, Ronnie Baker, and as they say THE REST IS HISTORY!!!!!!!
@eric2181965 THE SOUND OF PHILADELPHIA!!!! You summed it all up. And don't forget Thom Bell, McFadden & Whitehead (R.I.P), Zack Zachery (And that awesome alto sax), Vince Montana (on the vibes), Dexter Wansel, Jack Faith (flute) and the other musicians that made such great music to come of Sigma Sound. If I left anyone out, let me know. "I Ain't Jivin', I'm Jammin" - Leon Huff (1980).
