I disliked this vid, because it associates childhood with paedophilia while the intent to make Milo a child is clearly obvious after having watched the (new TED 2010) demo: Milo is yet far from perfect - even as demonstrated - and requires both cooperation and forgiveness.

It might be able to recognise faces, scan images, distinguish the tonality of voices and tell whether you're saying one of a small set of sayings (eg. yes, no, i don't know). I disliked this vid, because it associates childhood with paedophilia while the intent to make Milo a child is clearly obvious after having watched the (new TED 2010) demo: Milo is yet far from perfect - even as demonstrated - and requires both cooperation and forgiveness.
A child at that age is both curious by nature and very fast in acquiring new skills - a perfect fit for the current state of Peter Molyneux's project :-)

I love Charlie, but Milo was not centered for 'heavy adults' or so. Well, if you're a gamer and you have Xbox... And so on, you would probably buy it, just because it's something innovative. It's not like you make Milo your diary-thingie. That would be weird, I suppose, when you're a 30-something man, for example.

Of course, it's bullshit. There will be nothing innovative in this. It might be able to recognise faces, scan images, distinguish the tonality of voices and tell whether you're saying one of a small set of sayings (eg. yes, no, i don't know). Like all good marketing companies, Microsoft are good at grouping different elements of existing technology into a nice package.

Yeah totally, the deom everyone has seen is set up for sure. Ive seen prgrams that respond to voice/text, and when you actually try and just TALK with them... FAIL. They just dont understand you. It would be cool if the tech was there, but we know it isnt. Theyl let themselves down when it comes to an unbias review. These motion sensors for xbox and sony are gonna bum hard as well, gaming with a pad, online play, and just a damn good game is so well one now, people want that, and more of it.

@andyrevell It's natural progression of what the ps2eye was. I doubt kinect will actually add anything to any type of genre except for minigames. Also think about this. A thirty year old man with no kids buys milo and kate. What do you think of him? obviously he had to buy a friend and couldn't make real ones, and also, why a kid? But if that did happen, a caretaker just walked into a Best Buy alone and bought Milo and Kate, yes, he would look like a pedophile to everyone in the store. It wouldn't matter what his intentions were. People will always judge you without knowing your intentions. I assumed you've actually lived a day in the real world. I also believe that it's better to help a child make actual relationships then virtual ones.

For the record: I have volunteered extensively with Autistic and disabled children and they found it far easier to relate to game characters than real people, so this would be ideal.

Instead of taking the time to THINK for one moment, he automatically rejects the technology because of what he sees on the surface of the demonstration. Sad, really. Also, if his first thought was "pedophile"...well, I guess we know where his mind is at.
