You don't HAVE to ditch your chars. You CAN keep the ones you like, but it may cost you. I kept the samurai dude and Yumei throughout the game. The thing I didn't like was that all of these souls you collect don't really seem to matter storyline wise. It's like they are literally just there to fight for you and there isn't much of any char development with them. Like it woulda been cool if Yumei could have seen her parents somewhere in there. Good game, just a few things missing.

I could agree with most of the review up until about 3:58. When he had the nerve to say that the story was uninteresting, the translation was poor, and he even described sitting through the cutscenes as PAINFUL...? Really? I'm guessing he didn't mean emotionally, either. I had to pause and simmer for a few minutes.

Plotwise, presentation wise and soundtrack wise this game has to be one of the best RPGs I've ever played, and trust me, I've played plenty.

@Harkz0r Yeah, and he obviously DID NOT take into account that this game came out way before the PSP even existed. It was incredible for the time it came out, and still is very unique. I'd give it an 8.5, just cause there were a FEW problems with it that I had personally.

I just started playing this week and became addicted; the combo system is very unique compared to other RPGs out there meaning you just don't click n let them do the work. Timing is necessary.

@kooko1997 - It can get repetitive. It's got a lot going for it, but it's quirky (which you may or may not like). It's hard to say whether any one person would like it or not. It's not especially hard once you get the hang of it unless you go out of your way to get the best ending, and then there is some real aggravation, such as a boss who can heal for all its health instantly.

this game is pretty good, and very affordable, bought it used for 10€ (~12$), but id only recommend it to real jrpg fans cause theres a lot of cutscenes, a lot of leveling and grinding if you play it on hard.. pretty challenging on hard tough.. what i think is that euopean and american casual gamers won't have SO much fun with this game if theyre not into such kind of games

Not really short IMO, there are 20 characters and they all have their own story. After you beat the game theres another dungeon awaits for players. If you play the game in hard mode u could get all characters.

Fairly decent review except I dont agree about the cutscenes being boring. Each character has a very developed story and their personality is shown through those cutscenes. Although I will agree the translation was total ass and that could be why you feel that way. Awesome game.

WRPG games and JRPS games are totally different. WRPG games are games like Oblivion and Fallout 3....a JRPG is something like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, etc. RPG games all fall into some sort of category.

The Cutscenes are beautifull, they give each character a personality never seen before in that much characters in a game. They make you love every little thing about each character. I've played and beaten the original with all the endings on the PlayStation and thought this was a really good game myself.

Replay value is, simply, whether or not you will play the game again in the near or far future.

"Valkyrie Profile" is a game with good replay value because there are multiple endings along with a very involved storyline.

yes lvling up and getting crazy armor and weapons..basically the sending up is to boost your rating...it's to get the best ending..

you just have to train your character like u do for a normal rpg BUT in every chapter u need to send some warrior ( u have some hint about what they want like a scout or a big fatty warrior) so when i lvl up u can upgrade heroic skills like ( brave...ect..) so in the end u can play it the way u want by sending no warriors
