Never was a Zao fan, then I picked up the this remake of "All Else Failed" after reading Jesse's interview in HM about how this was going to be re-recorded. I was blown away, total freakin' metal mosh mayem!
This version technically was executed & performed better, & no disrespect to Dan or Scott on this, but I really do think the original 'All Else Failed' Cut was the best. Just because it was the creation of a different era of Zao, (Jesse, Roy, Mic & Eric). I just feel that the songs from that era belong to them. & I know that at least Dan would agree based on previous conversations with him.

the circumstances which accompanied the recording of the all else failed cover album is strangely representative of the conflict and trouble which has has shaped and defined zao. I think all else failed is a fair part of the bands repertoire as no two zao albums sound alike. it also pays certain respects to the bands past. certainly the zao of today did not drop in from outer-space, but is the result of past circumstances and past opportunities.

The vocals are interesting but not as good as the original. And yes evryone knows Zao is no longer Christian and does not care to evangelize at all.

On that album, they focus on what the world would be like if God just decided to give up and die. They are not saying that God would ever do that, but just considering that idea should make us realize how hopeless we are without Him.

Found the differance finally :D Halo of winter was on their first album but they remade the album with every song and Dan singing :D thus resistance was born!

This song Resistance is a total repeat of the original version from Zao's 1997 album "The Splinter Shards the Birth of Separation" but with the newer vocalist.
Get the original album. It's got a lot of green on the cover, and it's on iTunes.

Damn, I love these guys. Ever since I saw em on Solid State Records. (Yes, they sucked while they were on Solid State. Jesse was an ass.) But I still love em. Funeral of God is one of my favorite albums.

On that album, they focus on what the world would be like if God just decided to give up and die. They are not saying that God would ever do that, but just considering that idea should make us realize how hopeless we are without Him.

My friend fells the same way. Something about the older Zao stuff just sounds more 'gritty' and I like that personally.
In any form, Zao seems to continually kick ass though.

The church was used back then as something over the people with authority.I believe it was the English or some country that had a church where you would pay the priest money to be forgiven for your sins.

The roman pauline catholic church did that through out its entire domain actually (they allso today have an age of concet of 12 years of age and where aiding the nazis to flee their warcrimes, that's just recent history and facts, and ancient ones is that the church of today killed the original christian cults. Why? Cuss they had a more direct and unedited source of the philosophies of christ and no real hierachy of a church, no control mechanism of lies, just philosophy).

Well he did not appearently, it was his philosophical/metaphorical "twin" or so some sources (oldest excisting writings from the time) say. Found the differance finally :D Halo of winter was on their first album but they remade the album with every song and Dan singing :D thus resistance was born!
