i like when the horn in this goes rooty toot toot somebody tell me how to play that rooty toot toot part ill probably just hang out in my room all the time playing it and listening to it
I went to Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in San Francisco a few months back and got the distinct pleasure of getting to hear Conor preform this song. Greatest moment of my life.
Absolutely amazing! Conor is, in my opinion, more than a musician/songwriter; he is a poet, philosopher and so much more. I've never met him; but I would venture to guess that he is, (in more ways than one would imagine) extremely intelligent, in possession of life experiences that are beyond his years. Truly we are privileged to be living the times of Conor Oberst.
This is beautiful, it broke my dry spell of listening to Bright Eyes. I just fell in love with them again. (: It's so much like their most recent album.
this song has such powerfull imagery even without the words... the drums and the sound of conner's voice just instantly makes me think of automn, and brown leaves falling from the trees, whilst that synth (I think) paints a picture of a blue sky just poking through. Then the lyrics just compliment this beautiful image perfectly, and I get such a clear vision of this person they're describing its unreal.
Had the pleasure of seeing them play together at the El Rey....bought this album in dublin in '05....can't believe it's getting a revamp.....they keep independent music alive...seriously
@MarkBade Wow....you are so lucky. I would do almost literally anything to see them play together. And I totally agree about them keeping independent music alive. They are unbelievably great.
Sick song. Structurally it reminds me of Leonard Cohen, obviously it sounds way different because Mike Mogis' production. I would love to see what he would do with an LC song...
@girliehun It's off of the reissue of One Jug of Wine, Two Vessels. It just officially came out a couple of weeks ago, but I got it on March 9th since I pre-ordered. There are four new tracks and they're all ridiculously great, you should definitely buy it! The link is above.
My mum likes bright eyes, we do jigsaw puzzles and listen to it.
