@LISdafreestyler I just wanted to make a point that on the rings in the olympics and the world championships, his form is excellent, this is just a rough demo.
@etsak75 I don't care if his form is excellent elsewhere, I'm talking about this video and in this video you can see that his body isn't straight during his planche.
@LISdafreestyler And I suppose your planche pushup form to 9 reps is fucking perfect everytime. Its his warm up for fucks sake, do you really think he is incapable of holding a perfect planche?
@MythosAlmighty My planche and his capabilities have nothing to do with this video. I'm not even going to bother arguing with you, you clearly can't come up with a good argument so you attempt to insult the person instead.
@LISdafreestyler More of a question than an insult. My point was who are you to criticise his form, which is infact his warm up, not the olympics. Mind you, at the olympics he is more than capable of perfect form. Where is your argument?
@MythosAlmighty Either way, this planche isn't with best form. I can criticise the form because I'm an observer. With your logic, no one would ever be able to judge a diving competition unless they've done the exact same thing and know it's difficulty.
@LISdafreestyler Well, obviously the Olympic judges think he is in fine form, which is why he is an Olympic champion, so I guess your judging fails as well.
his legs dont seem to be moving up with him as he planche pushups, but thats mostly just for sho. still, he's benching his bodyweight, which is damn impressive. Wish i could even be this good.
@StefanHRasmussen there's no rules perse; you can do them however you like-i'd still consider what you described a planche-pushup, but it takes a bit more core strength to keep your legs elevated rather than letting them remain @ a certain height, and it looks a bit more impressive imo
@pureownshard it's more difficult then benching your own bodyweight because the angle at which the force is applied leads to a <1 mechanical advantage iirc
@areyoutim then again, hes not doin full range of motion, so it probably is still around bodyweight. ur right bout the difficulty tho, i wasn't considering that back then, but i just rewatched it and noticed his forms a bit off..
@XCriminal4LIFE Guys its not to late youd be suprised how quick you can change and become physicaly agile. you just need to break you boundrys and try your hardest dont go half ass and you will achieve your goals the human body is amazing TRUST
So...Is this called gymnastics....Because i just found out i can do planche pushups and that press handstand that you did and many more...But im afraid of my friends callin me gay..cuz im not...Im fascinated with pushing the limits of human strength...I just dont want my friends laughing at me for wanting to do this
Well seriously, that's like asking if it's gay to do pushups or any kind of working out. If you and your friends are immature enough to think doing something like this is "gay", then yeah, you guys are gay.
I have no idea why your friends would laugh at you, this is really hard to do and they should be impressed if anything.
This is a great example, you don't need weights to become strong. Body weight is all you need for "real" strength. Weights are fine and good. But this is 100% harmony/strength. Very impressive.
wtf? It isn't possible due to restraints of the shoulder socket i believe. Also, if it were possible, the victorian would most likely be harder still.
Wrong - you're thinking about it the wrong way. There would be two ways to get into it, one of which would place considerable strain on the shoulder socket (over the top, i.e., lowering forward past a HS) and the other which would not (lifting up through the bottom, i.e., from an L).
You are correct that the Victorian would be harder if the method is raising through the bottom (i.e., through an L) - that's a similar comparison to planche vs. maltese.
Wow he's strong! Great level of fitness...I do wonder why for a warm up you would do your planche soo quickly...When I warm up I always take my time..am i doing something wrong? It seems like I would tear a muscle his way lol
Look, anybody complaining should note that this is his warm-up. He's just doing some straddle press handstands, partial ROM HSPUs and planche push-ups, some variations of hanging leg raises, etc. These are not meant to be competition-quality movements, but are just to prepare him for what he's really focusing on - his routines. He has spent two decades building up to this level of strength, balance, and coordination, and it is reflected in the ease with which he completes this difficult warm-up.
Yeh lol, you're right moefro777, handstand dips aren't the best possible analogy, maltese press to planche on rings is probably more suitable, but considering his previous comments, I doubted yogandclimber would understand the difficulty of a maltese either!
You have said something "techinically incorrect" actually. You claimed "Holding a planche is harder than doing planche pushups". You may as well claim holding a handstand is harder than handstand dips! I'm not sure why you keep mentioning sarcasm either, as my only hint of sarcasm was, "It's generally known a maltese is a step-up in difficulty from a planche" (which is true anyway). Also, I take back my previous comment, it's not extremely probable he can do a planche. He just can... full stop.
Considering that most people on youtube seem to think that doing planche pushups just means bobbing up and down with bent arms, holding a static planche is quite a bit harder. But yea, if you do them correctly and actually lock your arms and pause at the top, planche pushups are much more difficult. Handstand dips aren't really a good analogy because the most difficult part of a handstand pushup is at the bottom of the range of motion, while in planche pushups the hardest part is at the top
dont pay attention to yogaclimber. its obvious he doesnt shit about gymnastics and he's looking for attention. That and he wants to seem knowledgeable about a subject he knows dick about.
Don't even know when the last time I did push-ups was. But let me tell you, even if I could do 1000 push-ups, i wouldn't go putting people down who can't. It's just an asshole thing to do.
I am relaxed. Just think about your comments in the future. This one made you look like an asshole and a douche bag. Not saying you are, but that's the image you give off with comments like that.
he has good balance, but in terms of strength/diffculty this is nothing special. All top gymnasts can do this. Search for "hannibal king" and prepare to be amazed
fucking retards....full planche...pfff i ve done straddle on floor, and its not even close to what is needed for straddle ON RINGS,let alone maltese Jovtchev eats planche for breakfast, jealous noobs
I'm sure he can do full planche...since he can do solid maltese iron cross, doing full planche would be pretty easy to him. I'm gonna have to guess that this starting from straddle planche is just his habit when he does planche push ups.
Hey FUCKED ASS,this ''poser'' as you called him,is the greatest gymnast in the world! The only one with 5 olympics,World champion and etc. ...And who are you, fuckin' asshole????
yeah he most likely could do it based on everything else he's doing.. I'm just saying that technically he never did one here... since he's an olympian he knows it. Actually not all olympic gymnasts can do a straight leg planche
he starts with a straddle planche with straight arms (for a short time though). He never did a true planche (straight arms with legs together) because he drops into planche pushups before his legs came together. Anyone who's done these know that once you bend your arms in planche you cannot fully straighten them again.
Holding a planche is harder than doing planche pushups so he might not be able to hold one or else he should wait till his legs come together before bending arms.
That is the most idiotic comment I have ever read in my life. You claim Jordan Jovchev "might not be able to hold" a straight body planche. You clearly do not have a clue.
You seriously don't think Jordan Jovchev can do a straight body planche? Have you ever watched a rings routine of his?
Highlighting your arrogance is the fact he has actually invented a skill the FIG classified as an E - from inverted cross lower slowly to inverted hang and felge bwd slowly to maltese (2s).
(Sarcastically) It's generally known a maltese is a step-up in difficulty from a planche...
And no, I don't "know him real well". I'm just not stupid enough to think he can't do a planche.
i wasn't being sarcastic if you read what I wrote. And I'm not arrogant if you knew me. Stop calling people out cause you're the one who's arrogant if you act like you know more than me which is never my claim.
I didn't allude to you being sarcastic?! I sarcastically said, "t's generally known a maltese is a step-up in difficulty from a planche..." Furthermore, you are being arrogant to his ability to swing rings and immense strength if you maintain your view he can't do a planche. I also don't understand what grounds you are calling me arrogant on, as I am clearly acknowledging the fact he is more than capable to perform a planche considering he competes much harder skills in big competitions.
well read your reply and read my comments and tell me who sounds arrogant. I also said in another comment that based on other difficult things he does that I think he is likely able to hold a straight planche, which is the same thing your saying. I didn't know for sure that he could do one because I never saw it.
Brilliant, that's progress, as now you realise Jovchev's ability to perform a straight body planche is extremely probable. I have read over your comments and would still say from what you have explicitly said, you know very little about the sport. My comments are not arrogant to gymnastics and its characteristics as a sport (in other words, I don't suggest an Olympic medallist is unable to perform a very basic skill on a set of floor bars). However, I am thankful you have come to your senses.
thanks but I already knew that it was extremely probable. Your sarcasm sucks that's all. If you just said from the beginning that you thought it is highly probable he can do a planche then I would have said yes I agree. As for my knowledge, I never said I knew a lot but I didn't say anything technically incorrect.
Well, you'll relaize you can't go that far, because you are so weak without the leverage of bent elbows. How do you do pushups without bending your elbows? Basically, maltese to planche. Then to handstand, if you want to go that far. The point is, if Jordan can press to planche, going as far down as Junior was going will be no problem for him.
wow whoever just said jovtchevs planches suck compared to some prancing dancing faggot should shut the fuck up, plaches fuck that he could do a maltese or cross like it nothing and besides you want to talk shit on his planche push ups lets see you do half as many as he does thats because u cant and i dont think u can go L cross press to inverted cross lower to maltese then lower to cross the pull back to maltese with out being out of breath, jovthev is the world champion on rings
u dont seem to be getting what im saying - i was wowed when i saw this guy on the bar and rings...but considering this video is labelled 'planche push up' and there wasnt one which was proper form i thought it was worth a mention. Just cos he's incredible as a gymnast, doesn't automatically mean u have to bum every move he attempts. And you dont even know me so why are you bothering to tell me what i can do?
A gymnast who does not know proper form. Hehe. Good one! I would really like to know if many of the people who are saying this have ever tried doing any of this stuff.
Fingers foreward = easier
FIngers back = harder
Body shortened = easier
Body elongated (hollow) = equals much fuckin' harder.
Bent arms = shorter lever = easier
Here is a challenge. Try doing dips. Then try doing dips without bending your elbows. Which is harder?
bboy junior ias nothin comparable with the best gymnasts on rings like chen yibing, besides, he has a prothesis which make the planche easier. but he is still strong, yes....
furthermore i don´t say that Junior is bad...i´m sure he has moves that Jovtchev or other gymnasts can´t do, but gymnasts don´t have to care about music and dancing, just focus on the moves...so they´re more specialized
You should see his rings routine before talking this shit. If he can transfer an iron cross to maltese on rings, the planche push ups will be an easy one for him. (even if he lower his hips)
Yeah...warm up for the harder stuff. LOL...I'll be doing normal pushups as warm ups for those. DAMN! That's brutal. Takes a lot of shoulder, ab and tricep strength.

yeah he most likely could do it based on everything else he's doing.. I'm just saying that technically he never did one here... since he's an olympian he knows it. Actually not all olympic gymnasts can do a straight leg planche
yogandclimber 3 years ago
come on people, hes been in the olympics like three times, of course he can do a straight legged planche
bsckflipp2008 3 years ago
he starts with a straddle planche with straight arms (for a short time though).

@ yogandclimber...
That is the most idiotic comment I have ever read in my life. You claim Jordan Jovchev "might not be able to hold" a straight body planche. You clearly do not have a clue.
mathill01 2 years ago
it's the most idiotic! you must know him real well because I've become a fan of his and I'd like you to show me where he's ever done one.
yogandclimber 2 years ago
You seriously don't think Jordan Jovchev can do a straight body planche? Have you ever watched a rings routine of his?
Highlighting your arrogance is the fact he has actually invented a skill the FIG classified as an E - from inverted cross lower slowly to inverted hang and felge bwd slowly to maltese (2s).
(Sarcastically) It's generally known a maltese is a step-up in difficulty from a planche...
And no, I don't "know him real well". I'm just not stupid enough to think he can't do a planche.
mathill01 2 years ago 3
i wasn't being sarcastic if you read what I wrote. And I'm not arrogant if you knew me. Stop calling people out cause you're the one who's arrogant if you act like you know more than me which is never my claim.
yogandclimber 2 years ago
I didn't allude to you being sarcastic?! I sarcastically said, "t's generally known a maltese is a step-up in difficulty from a planche..." Furthermore, you are being arrogant to his ability to swing rings and immense strength if you maintain your view he can't do a planche. I also don't understand what grounds you are calling me arrogant on, as I am clearly acknowledging the fact he is more than capable to perform a planche considering he competes much harder skills in big competitions.
mathill01 2 years ago
well read your reply and read my comments and tell me who sounds arrogant. I also said in another comment that based on other difficult things he does that I think he is likely able to hold a straight planche, which is the same thing your saying. I didn't know for sure that he could do one because I never saw it.
yogandclimber 2 years ago
Brilliant, that's progress, as now you realise Jovchev's ability to perform a straight body planche is extremely probable. I have read over your comments and would still say from what you have explicitly said, you know very little about the sport. My comments are not arrogant to gymnastics and its characteristics as a sport (in other words, I don't suggest an Olympic medallist is unable to perform a very basic skill on a set of floor bars). However, I am thankful you have come to your senses.
mathill01 2 years ago
thanks but I already knew that it was extremely probable. Your sarcasm sucks that's all. If you just said from the beginning that you thought it is highly probable he can do a planche then I would have said yes I agree. As for my knowledge, I never said I knew a lot but I didn't say anything technically incorrect.
yogandclimber 2 years ago
Well, you'll relaize you can't go that far, because you are so weak without the leverage of bent elbows. How do you do pushups without bending your elbows? Basically, maltese to planche. Then to handstand, if you want to go that far. The point is, if Jordan can press to planche, going as far down as Junior was going will be no problem for him.
Polarcupcheck 3 years ago
By the way, Jordan can press to planche from maltese. Which, incidently, requires straight arms.
Polarcupcheck 3 years ago
the fact of the matter is people who say jovtchevs strength moves suck are royally retarded
CarCrashedLove 3 years ago 2
The best gymnast of all time.
Jordan Jovtchev
mapmu 3 years ago
wow whoever just said jovtchevs planches suck compared to some prancing dancing faggot should shut the fuck up, plaches fuck that he could do a maltese or cross like it nothing and besides you want to talk shit on his planche push ups lets see you do half as many as he does thats because u cant and i dont think u can go L cross press to inverted cross lower to maltese then lower to cross the pull back to maltese with out being out of breath, jovthev is the world champion on rings
CarCrashedLove 3 years ago 4
u dont seem to be getting what im saying - i was wowed when i saw this guy on the bar and rings...but considering this video is labelled 'planche push up' and there wasnt one which was proper form i thought it was worth a mention. Just cos he's incredible as a gymnast, doesn't automatically mean u have to bum every move he attempts. And you dont even know me so why are you bothering to tell me what i can do?
stanithemani 3 years ago
A gymnast who does not know proper form. Hehe. Good one! I would really like to know if many of the people who are saying this have ever tried doing any of this stuff.
Fingers foreward = easier
FIngers back = harder
Body shortened = easier
Body elongated (hollow) = equals much fuckin' harder.
Bent arms = shorter lever = easier
Here is a challenge. Try doing dips. Then try doing dips without bending your elbows. Which is harder?
Polarcupcheck 3 years ago
how do you do dips w/o bending ur elbows?
WWMac 3 years ago
the point is u cant ya fuckin moron and the only possible thing that would be close is plance up and down
gymmonkey22 3 years ago
I dont think you understand what we're talking about. and nice job on calling me a moron and spelling planche wrong. i bet ur a real smart guy.
WWMac 3 years ago
The closest thing to dips with straight arms would probably be iron cross pull-outs.

omg gymnasts are so athletic
i agree that Bboy Junior can´t really match with real gymnasts because its their specialty...Bboys have to be creative and musical.
although Bboy Junior is very strong
Qurash 3 years ago
bboy junior ias nothin comparable with the best gymnasts on rings like chen yibing, besides, he has a prothesis which make the planche easier. but he is still strong, yes....
Sameronei 3 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
im sorry are you kidding me - yeah this guy is strong...but his planches suck campared to juniors - he doesnt even lower his hips!
stanithemani 3 years ago
Junior has polio or something so his legs are unusually light so it might take away some credibility -_O i think...
BboyNubsauce 3 years ago
i´m talking about overall skills
furthermore i don´t say that Junior is bad...i´m sure he has moves that Jovtchev or other gymnasts can´t do, but gymnasts don´t have to care about music and dancing, just focus on the moves...so they´re more specialized
Qurash 3 years ago
You should see his rings routine before talking this shit. If he can transfer an iron cross to maltese on rings, the planche push ups will be an easy one for him. (even if he lower his hips)

Look at his elbows over flexing :s Lots of strength but man the elbows :D
eamh2002 3 years ago
Yes, would normally be bad but look at his iron cross. Years of progressive tension on the tendon to help build high tension cables.

Yeah...warm up for the harder stuff. LOL...I'll be doing normal pushups as warm ups for those. DAMN! That's brutal. Takes a lot of shoulder, ab and tricep strength.
