  • If I got caught making a fire ontop of a stool I'd have the stool smashed over my head, lol

  • hey whats mayastick? great fire starter!

  • Can I light my weed with this?

  • hey what are u burning?

  • @KaVSMeLLmYfArT saw dust

  • @KaVSMeLLmYfArT saw dust no wait no either that or a pine resin stick

  • and your lighting a fire on a wooden table?

  • what tinder?

  • Comment removed

  • @ThePyrotube tinder juicy hotdog

  • There's an easier way to get fire! If you want something that floats, is windproof and lightweight, get Instafire. They now have matches that are windproof, light while wet and stay lit even when dipped in a river! Check out their website. Instafire com

    The YouTube name is Instafire1

  • It could be a FireSteel,com firesteel

  • Looks great, but if I were you I'd draw the flint along the steel, rather than the other way around. It controls where the sparks go a bit better- I noticed a good deal of them weren't hitting the tinder.

  • good idea to make a fire on table lol

  • who said its a table?

  • i think it is :)

  • who said it wasnt

  • its for the omish you dont belive in eletric heat :D light your table on fire

  • you just strike it but my tinder doesn't start like that

  • It's maya stick shavings

  • How can buy one? How much is it?

  • Thats a cool tool =)

  • whats a good way to sharpen the striker. i´ve tried using my diamond sharpener with moderate success

  • have you tried a honing stone with oil? works great for me.

  • What fire steel did you use, because i have a swedish firesteel (with green handle duno if that makes any difference), but i dont get that easy and much sparks as you do seems like you don't push that hard on it too.

  • this one is from "lightmyfireusa dot com". click on the link in "About this video" for details.

  • Ok, green handle means it could be the army model(, the best one) but I also have a scout model one with a green handle, so judge it by the thickness of the flint. Nearer a centimeter is probably army, nearer a half centimeter is prop scout. Also, to get more sparks, you have to lean hard. The striker you get with it is pretty awful useless you shapen it up, an old penkinfe gives MUCH better results. Please comment if this helps. =D

  • Let's see... I would think you got a Light My Fire™ Firesteel... You will get more sparks when you've used it a bit... Just take a little hike one day and use it a little, and voila, you got a nicely working Firesteel™. Now remember to not ignite anything if it's too dry outside, always bring a big bottle of water if you know it's relatively dry outside! Have a safe trip!

  • And I noticed that he's using the same type as you... Or to say it like this: the best one... The color of the handle has nothing to say... At all! That's all... And I just noticed that you've had your Firesteel™ for about 7 months now... Sorry about that... That's all!

  • have u scraped the black covering off?

  • whats the significance of maya stick

  • nothing much. they are a type of pine wood with high resin content. They are easy to light and burn for much longer than ordinary wood. Also, the high pine content makes them easier to light even when slightly wet than ordinary. you can get them at "light my fire"

  • the whole point of a fire steel over matches or a lighter is that you can do it anywhere and anytime even when your out of lighter fluid or your matches get wet

  • Post a vid

  • holy crap! thats a huge spark

  • firesteel is awesome but mayadust and maya sticks are way too expensive!!

  • matches work pretty good too. thats the best way to start a fire.

  • zippos kick the crap out of matches

  • blowtorches kick the crap out of zippos. :P

  • Touché.

  • :P the best comeback to that would be a zippo blu. lol

  • Firesteel is an EXCELLENT tool! I always use it to light my fiers, it's always reliable!

  • lol dont you have a black spot on your parquet now?

  • It did leave a black mark but that easily washed off. That is not a wooden floor its on a stool. I don't know the term (maybe some sort of laminated coating) but it does not burn or scar that easily. got to test both ;). Looks like wood but not wood.

  • where can you get firesteel and flint from?

  • You can buy one at thinkgeek or many other places. Click on the link in the video description.

  • matches are easier to get but you have to be 35 years old to get them.

  • whats the difrence. it looks like ot makes more sparks

  • Firesteel is an alloy of several metals and produces sparks that are 3000°C (5,500°F). A flint also produces sparks but I don't know if they get this hot.

  • was that a normal flint stick?

  • No that was Firesteel and maya dust (See video description) shavings. It took me a number of strikes because I was new to this then. Now, It just takes me one strike.

  • First to comment!!!! and wow that was cool with the sparks and all and the whooo*makes a buncha stupid sound affects for a fire*:P

  • Thanks. Yes, it is a pretty cool tool to start a fire with.
