The United Nations Special Rapporteur on Housing visited the city in 2007 when complaints were filed by local lawyers when it became apparent homelessness had tripled since we won the Olympic Host City bid competition a few years before. Our bid book contained promises to ensure it wouldn't happen. British Columbia has the highest child poverty rate in Canada for 8 years.

This is 100% true. I lived in Vancouver because I heard wonders of it and it is a hellhole. I left after 2 years. The people think they're the greatest, make Torontonians look like newfies. The rent is extremely expensive for a studio apartment. It rains all the time and I thought to myself... what in the world am I doing here ? Life is worth much more than gold. I left and never regretted doing that.

Vancouvers awesome. I've traveled around the world and every time I can't wait to get back here.....other than Singapore you really won't find somewhere cleaner...the majority of people take care of themselves in terms of exercising and look great. The rain is really not as bad as people make it out to be. There's so much happening here, you just need to get out and find out about all the little perks of this fabulous city.

Yeah, vancouver is pretty close, they've banned smoking recently (on the outside!) which I think is hypocritical considering it's unaddressed horrible drug problems (which nobody even tries to address) and immature and uncivilized since policing and telling what to do to grown-up people by the means of by-laws and tax collection. Singapore is a model for future controlled sterile city.

@bluesintheblood Walk along the seawall= free. Take a bus to any of the mountain tops=quite inexpensive. Great bars in Gastown, live comedy, great music, cheap drinks, free to get in. Yoga by donation. Beaches during the summer=free. This list goes on, stop making excuses.

Check out the National Geographic documentary on youtube about Heroin. Vancouver is the host city. What does that tell you? Epidemic. And all the organized crime and property crime/auto theft that goes with it. Well at least they showed the legalized injection site, so the addicts don't drop needles all over the street.

@thewun1 In Vancouver, they encourage drugs, the government buys drugs for the people for FREE! paid for with Tax dollars. Drugs are free offered by the government but the one condition is that, they want to see u take the drugs. But oh no, FREE DRUGS doesn't encourage drug use at all of course!
