Well Done Seekers & My Love For All Of You...Also To Ms Judith Durham.....I have been listening to your angeli voice for coming to 60 decades of my life!!! Hope you come to Spore with your Seekers...Love Tpo ALl Of You ...And My Angelic Sister, JUDITH DURHAM!!! Gambarimasu J. Durham San!!!!
I don't know about the rest of the world, but the USA sure could use a group like this. Not just the fact they are excellent at what they do, but they bring people together with such joy and happiness. Something the USA is so lacking in any longer, whether its music or anything for that matter.
I agree that the "USA sure could use a group like this", but "The Seekers" aren`t just Australian. They are also citizens of the world bringing people together from all over the globe with joy and happiness. Music truly is the International Language. Lorraine
This group really did have a way of making people happy, and Judith still has the voice as beautiful as ever. I wish there were groups around these days that could bring people together and just celebrate life and be happy.
How can anyone not just love this. No matter what age. Simple lyrics easily understood but that still have meaning. Simply wonderful, both in the 60's and now!!
@peebee59 You're right about people of all ages loving this music: I was in the audience that night, and I'll never forget it. That was the first concert I ever went to. I was ten years old. :)
@dazbluey I'm from the states. Never got to see even a picture of them, back when, that I can remember. Loved their music. Wore my Georgy Girl 45 out. Their charisthma is unmatched. Ms Durham has a unique talent and could stand with anybody, who has ever sung and yet appears down to earth. From the clips I have seen, she has a genuine, effortless relationship with the audience. Most appealing stage presense I have seen. Here, they should have left the drummer at home. Great post Thanks
such talent, such joy, the seekers have made this a better world for millions and millions of people, and when I die, and if I hear Judiths voice I know I will truly be in heaven
I will always have a soft spot for this song - it was the one that drew my attention to this group back in the 60's. A long and harmonious relationship :=))
Classic folk song, always brings s smile to my face, and reminds me of good times, and affirms that Judith Durham is is one of the greatest talents ever, She had the gift, and did not waste it, Thanks Judith you made my life brighter, as I am sure you did for many millions more
In my search to date, I've yet to find another group that ever recorded this song, and with good reason. The melody, the harmonies and the joy this group brought forth in this piece are absolutely incomparable. Has any group anywhere ever done a song more than 25 years after its first release . . . . and topped even their own original?
P.S. --- Nearly 32,000 views thus far . . . . and I think I've played half of them.
Jesus! Where is this kind of music now? These folks play music that has no time boundaries. They have always moved my heart and soul with their unique sound.
I can't understand even 1 "dislike"...I've noticed the people who click "dislike" on songs like this never leave comments. I can only assume it's because they can't spell.
This group has it all! Good, solid musicianship, chemistry, flawless delivery, and the ability to endear generations of fans. They know how to attract and hold a crowd without having to go on stage half dressed, with gaudy styles and instruments so loud that the music is lost
This is one the greatest songs I know. I have known it since I was a child. But until now, I couldn't search for it. Silly me, I thought it was "Land of Our Own." No wonder I couldn't find it! Anyways, thanks a million for posting.
@johnmilo117 Judith was 50 in this clip. Her voice was still clear and strong as when she became famous 25 years earlier. Now she is 67 but I'm sure her voice is still the same. She is not indeed a very pretty woman but she is really 'beautiful' in my mind.
@niruth1000 I think she's 66 now (almost 67) but judging by recent clips I've seen Judith's voice is still amazing given her age and she's in good shape.
Battling with my marihuana-addiction at the moment, been clean and sober since April last year, no-one to turn to at the moment...shall I built a world of MY own and buy some ? Or...shall I listen to the Angelic voice of Judith all night and beat the craving that's haunting me now? The latter I hope will work for me.
Get real, brother. There isn't a single drug from any source that could ever match the good-time high you can get from listening to this group perform this song. Can ya testify with me, somebody?
@LoyalHoundDog brother, I got real, stayed sober, listened to a lot of the Seekers" vids...it really helped again, just like about a year ago when I started to quit. The hard times I had then were softened by Judith's voice and The Seekers'music, touches my heart what they do !
I have had the pleasure of meeting Judith Durham on a number of occasions and she has always been a charming lady both off the stage as well as on it,she has a beautiful voice and a personality to match.
Must have been tough in 1968 for the guys to loose Judith Durham with her strong beautiful voice. Listen to her 25 years after and as we go into the 21st century 2009 her voice is still fabulous. Thank You Lovely Judith for all the beautiful music.
Even after the Seekers first captured me back in 1964, then disappeared in '68, their top-drawer music never let go of this Yank. What a marvelous folk-pop group; what a superb blend of accoustics and harmonics. The video reveals just how much this foursome enjoyed what they did and sang. And yes, I agree that Judith is as gorgeous and melodic as ever, but I really love watching ole Athol on bass here. He was clearly in a world of his own during the song. Oh, to have seen them in person.
The smiles and joy on the faces of the audience demonstrates the everlasting nature of the Seekers and their genre of music. Look at the joy on the lady at 33" or the gentleman at 2'14". Awesome the feeling the group brings and generates.
I'd pretty much forgotten about the seekers after Georgy Girl in 1967. What a treat to see these videos. Didn't realize how much I loved Judith especially in cohouts with the rest of the foursome. Was this act planned in heaven?
