But what I was refering to on Reveal's comment was the simple allocation of crime being down to colour. The difference is now that young people (some as young as ten and eleven) are carrying knives and guns and using them on each other - what then?
there's no mutual respect out there no more.....2 many ppl are 2 quick 2 feel disrespected over minor tings....other than sport & music there's not many outlets for poor ppl to explore their interests....& i would need about 20 comment boxes to talk about the parents these days, in the last 25 years or so the parenting skills of ppl has defo declined....the lack of common respect ting must of started at home, it all starts in the home...with the parent(s).
& i think it's more effective than a punishment which is essentially just saying 'don't do that again'. young people don't want to be told what to do, but want to make their own decisions. if there's someone there to help guide them in making those decisions, then hopefully they'll make the right ones. i also think it's important to see the impact they've had on the victim's family. it may help them to view their opposition as actual people, not just objects to expend to gain respect/status.

good video, i respect you for confronting an issue that most people are scared to address.
i think you're right about addressing the underlying problems. i doubt many individuals involved in knife/gun crime are happy, or they wouldn't involve themselves in something so destructive. i think rehablitation in helping the individuals to build opportunities for themselves will give them another route in life that isn't immersing themselves in gang culture.

I doubt though that it is really that simple to get rid of the problem. I do some work in prisons with young offenders and I see all races there - white, black, asian and yes high numbers of somalians too. I have not come across anyone who hasn't got ambitions, dreams, goals and skills. For this reason I think society is going wrong by not dealing with the underlying causes or creating enough positive alternatives.

I hear your views but the truth is death knows no colour. People were dying in the 60's and 70's but back then it was the 'mods' and 'rockers'.
you need to check out your history, because this isn't a black or white ting, this is a real ting happening today and we all need to get real about being responsible and forget about blame.

Croydon is pretty bad because there are sooo much weaklings out there that have to go all out and use knifes instead of there fists not sayin there should be violence but whats the point of using a knife when one day one young person gonna try use a knife and its gonna backfire on him or her Croydon can be a shocking place.

THERE was not much trouble in croydon 20 years ago when i was young, but then again there where no black area's just a couple here and there.now its full blacks and they are the cause of 95% of knife crime and gun crime, this is not racist this is a fact. i can't to this day name a area that has inproved down to influx of the immigrant blackman and women.
this is why parties like the b.n.p are risen very fast and continue to grow with speed,
english whites are sick to death of immigrants.

I hadn't been to Croydon for seven years untill this January. Broke my heart to see how dirty it looks. All the best businesses are gone along with the friendly shop owners...bloody Whitfield center is totally tatty....
