  • i had a huge crush on QMcL. I think I saw them at the Richmond Club a few times. Love the seedy eighties influenced blues. The eighties fashion had no influence whatsoever, because it was so easy to find 50s and 60s frocks.

  • you can really see the blatant 50's influence from 30 years away. this song really took me back, i havn't heard this song since then until just now. wow! thank you,...

  • Oh yes... I wish Rock Arena would be remastered and stuck on DVD. I'd buy! Thanks for uploading this song, I thought it was great, never got to see these guys - always bad timing!

  • I agree with Carl, all those rock arena gigs need to be up here, i use to have them on tape years back, blue ruin, creepers, hunters, hollowmen et all, where are they??

  • saw them at the corner...intense is the word that comes to mind in the formation of that particular memory!

  • how goood were these guys ??? Too cool then . . . nothing's changed . . . tune in youngsters, this is the real deal !!!

  • where is the vid for Lighthouse Girl?

Another reunion gig (l;ast one was 2009) at the corner again is well over due.

  • Would be great if Quincy would put the live set of Rock Areana onto dvd before its lost for ever.

  • @carl1964Wish I'd been around then, now I just have too be content playing with his son.

  • i did a couple of lightshows for them down in tassie in the 80,s, they were a great live band to see , very tight and smooth like velvet, a true pleasure

  • Agree with unguardedmoment about br's version of venus. Please post it someone!!!

  • There is a clip - and it's really good, too. I'll get in touch with Quince and see if we can upload it.

  • IF you are after back catalogue BLUE RUIN, drop me an email via this link and I'll put you in touch with Quince.

  • That would be great!

  • anyone able to help me find old blue ruin cd's/records and his other band quincy mclean and the .......bastards. looked everywhere

  • I can help you get in touch with Quince, if you like. Are you after Smooth Bastards, and Le Grand Fromage?

  • Karma will get you too, right Ian?

  • What th'?

  • Does anyone have a clip of Blue Ruin doing Venus - absolutely THE best version ever of this classic song?

  • Yep - only bad timing screwed it up. It came out almost the same day as Bananarama's version. End of story.

  • check out the movie "Smoke em if you got em!"

this band are the house band, it great!

  • You can get this from cinema de bizarre in Florida, I got it and quality is great! Terrific Aussie film! Perfect band casting too.

  • Geez I'd love to track this down on CD - it rocks!!

  • It's off "Flame" (1986) which was recently re-released.

  • years before the john spencer blues were hip

  • when i was in the navy, i went to freemantle and perth australia. i got a blue ruin single in a record store, ive lost it but it was "venus"

  • mi dad in this vid i think he drove the band around

  • great stuff. thanks for posting all these!

  • Loved them them and the flame still burns. Love to see a clip for Lighthouse Girl if it exists.

  • saw their reunion at the corner, they looked older but surly as ever. has ever a cleaner blues whack come out of austrailer?

  • its been awhile theres more alts you just have to look for it thanks antirion

  • One of the best bands from Australia and one of the least appreciated. Fond and hazy memories of "Flame" ['87] over a bottle of mescal.

  • absolutely agree , definetely my all time favourite band from australia , totally under rated and quincy mclean and the smooth bastards also rate highly

  • Fucking shit, Leave it to nick

  • thx a lot for posting this video! i've never imagined such a video is existing....

  • Geez, doesn't quincey give that girl a crack to the noggin with his shoulder in this video.

  • Thanks for posting this vid. As a 16 year old I used to love playing the bass riff on my uncles 73 maton shortscale, much to the anoyance of my father. Flame a great album!
