great explaination to a into to a basic switch off. how ever how high u choke up on to the handle doesnt really matter depending on what ur tatic is. people who prefer a more furious attack tend to hold it at the very end, people who like a highly controlled strike hold it as high as u had explained, last for those who like a little reach but has controll hold it in the center. so im not saying ur wrong, im just saying that how ever u hold it isnt neccesary wrong it just depends on ur technique
This isn't bad but if you already can do these things and want to go further, I think the next step would be Master Lee Barden's videos. He teaches all the different grips and when to use them. This kid just contradicted himself saying "you should hold it like this" and then holding it differently during various turns and switches. Look up Lee if you want to see a real nunchaku master in action. I hope this doesn't sound like spam... It's IS relevant to the subject.
Sure you can learn from videos, It is a lot cheaper than going to a nunchaku clinic. My dojang dosent even offer weapon forms except for clinics so i just toy with with the videos until i start talking Jung Sim Do
I didnt kno that martial arts is supposed to look 'cool'... lol might as well tell kids to take these nunchucks on the street and beat people with them.
Martial Arts is a form of art. But it's supposed to be a form of self-defence too. And being a form of art, it's supposed to flow, and look good; hence demonstrations at local places.
so wait, its the absolute right way to hold them at the top?? ive heard from other martial artists that u can hold them from the bottom for stronger but slower attacks, or at least something like that, anyone else hear that??
i heard tht if u hold it from the top its easier to control but less range, hold it from the bottom more range but less control i prefer the top, cause to be perfectly honest, it isn;t cool wen u beat the crap outta yorself.

if you hold them at the bottom its hard to controll it but if you hold it at the to its easyer to controll it!
tttmmmnnnttt 3 years ago
you hold it near the top for better control and lower for more range, but less control
