Wow, hes had a bad reputation. Watching the interviews and listening to him. He had it hard dealing with people. He is respectful. He was jus misunderstood.
Man I love Mike Tyson (No homo). I just wished he would have taken his last fights seriously. I would have wanted to see him retire at the top of the sport.
Absolut correkt....you can only say who is the best when every boxer is in his prime..No one could beat mike tyson when he is in his prime, in his best chape..The Klitschkos are made champions by a good promoter they were build up...in the 80`s tyson would fight both at one afternoon.Lewis would go down in round 5 or 6...The only one who could stand against him look in tyson eyes an take the fight were the Worlds Greatest.: Ali....
@JoeCalzagheTheCoward Seriously, when the opportunity for Lennox to fight Tyson in his prime ever arise?
Tyson peaked early (20s) whereas Lewis peaked later (30s) so the offer to fight Tyson wouldn't have existed because he wasn't a marquee name yet. You're calling someone a coward for turning something no one offered him in the first place. Why not rag on Foreman for not fighting Frazier in '70 or Ali for not fighting Patterson in '61 while you're at it? Yeesssshhhh.
@JoeCalzagheTheCoward Again, no evidence. Any evidence of someone offering him a fight in their prime that he turned down?
Still gonna call out Foreman for avoiding Frazer in 1970 or Ali for not fighting Patterson in 1961? Cause seriously dude, that shit makes about as much sense.
I don't know why people people keep saying the Tyson of the 80s would have beaten any Heavyweight in History, he looked spectacular because his competition was very sub-par. Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, would defeat him, even Evander Holyfield would have beaten him at any moment. Remember, Holyfield was also past his better days when he fought Tyson.
Tyson had trouble against Quick Tillis and won a very close decision, an injured Tony Tucker also gave him some trouble before he hurt his hand.
@Marz916 Only one very fanatical can tell that Tyson of the 80s would have beaten any Heavyweight in History and i'm not fanatical. But Holyfield didn't fight the real Tyson. And someone who think that Tillis and Tucker wasn't very good boxers is idiot. And i don't mean you bro. I mean some others who said that Tyson on his prime won only tomatos, bums and not good boxers
@danceswithwolvesful Holyfield did not fight the real Tyson, but Tyson did not fight the real Holyfield. Holyfield was never the same after the first Bowe fight, after that rough battle, he would fight and throw combinations in spurts. Tyson on the other hand was past his better days, but he was closer to what he once was then Holyfield. Tyson finished off title holders Seldon and Frank Bruno again quicker then he did the first time. Holyfield was coming back from a knock out loss to Bowe.
@Marz916 I agree with you when you write Holyfield was coming back from a knock out loss to Bowe. Holyfield had more heart than Tyson. After Spinks fight Tyson finished. He wasn't the same boxer. So let it put in this way. Tyson was better boxer, but Holyfield was better warrior.
@danceswithwolvesful Well, Tyson did look great against Spinks, but Spinks was coming back from knee surgery, and hadn't fought for a year, but I'm not saying Spinks would have ever beaten him, I'm just saying, plus Spinks was a career Light-Heavyweight. I wouldn't say Tyson was a better boxer, since when did he ever move around and use his jab, faster hands and harder puncher yes, but could not fight going back wards.
@Marz916 Well, you have your opinion and i have mine. At least we can chat each other ciivilized something very difficult here. Sure Spinks had problem and he came from Light - Heavyweight, but that doesn't mean that he wasn't very good boxer. And Holyfield came from crouzweight, and he is a legend. Tyson had gread fast punching power and technique to start and for this reason always had a big advantage over his opponent. Holyfield had all this but not on to start. And i will always say that
@Marz916 Spinks fight is the last fight who we'll see Tyson at his best, because after this he fired out Kevin Rooney the only trainer who known how to train him, because the other trainer Atlas had fired out from Cus. In Bruno first fight he won but he wasn't good. This fight is the first figth who we will see Tysons legs moved back from punches on first round and we all know waht happened after two fights.
@Marz916 Hey guys it's nothing more sobering than a good butt whipping!! Tyson got one...he was not a better boxer than Holyfield never really had a jab an his best defense was his offense...Holyfield beat him then and would have in his prime in Mikes prime he fought almost every 3wks!!! Tyson was a great fighter!!! Not a great boxer!!
Shows a beaten man, but more importantly a great family man. Tyson gave his life to boxing and boxing gives him life. He's an all time great, I hope he stays blessed outside the ring. He made one comeback too many and I always were concerned about his health, but looks good these days, looks happy.
People judge the man for one mistake 'obviously rape' which i also think is fucking disgusting, But you can tell the man is full of love, he just has alot of pent up hate to go with it, hes a very confused man..well was, hes got his shit together nowdays.. but back here he was still a gentle soul i believe, he just had no idea how to handle his emotions.
as much as people don't like him, hate him, underrate him (lol that rhymes). mike tyson is one of the ALL time greats, and without over rating him not many, if not any, of the greatest boxers of all times would have been able to stand up to tyson in his prime - even ali
Holyfield did, twice. IT was Evander who they were saying was washed up, not Mike, They even made Mike a 25-1 fave a day before the fight with Evander. The writers actually wrote that Evander may literally "Die" in the ring vs Tyson,.. that Holy didnt have a chance, or even a prayer.
Not a single pundit or writer was saying that Mike was washed up going into Holyfield 1.
Only after the supposed washed up Holy, pummeled Mike , did the excuses come, in effect, discrediting Holy.
@MrBumboclart you're crazzzzy.you're forgetting about ali's prime.no one could even touch him before his 3 1/2 year layoff.liston(rip) had to douse his gloves with a burning ointment to slow ali down.when ali was far past his prime,he beat a prime foreman.tyson was scared to even fight an old foreman.just google; "why tyson foreman never happened."ali was never ko'd!yet he faced punchers with more power than tyson.get your facts straight.research ali's prime and his opponents.
@TheGuGeZ so what henry dropped him.no kidding.ali whipped that ass in the round he predicted anyway.ali was unbeatable!when cooper dropped ali,it showed ali as a warrior getting up and beating the fight!name one fight tyson ever been put down and got up to win.let alone even get up and finish the fight!tyson never took adversity well.ALI will always be the greatest!
@saladooq but u claim ali was untouchable in his prime, which he wasnt. in ali's prime he got dropped, in tysons prime he never got dropped,(tysons prime ended after the spinks fight cuz he fired kevin rooney) copper showed that ali could be hit and hurt, he was out, but they had to cut his glove to give him more time to recover, that realy sounds like the greatest to me.
@TheGuGeZ, Tyson WAS prime when Douglas beat him. I'm sorry, I don't care who you are, a professional athlete isn't over the hill at 23. If his 'prime' ended when Rooney was sacked, then that merely shows that Rooney was a wonderful trainer and that Tyson wasn't a great fighter, as being without Rooney suddenly meant his prime ended. Look at who Ali beat, and compare that to Tyson. Tyson's opposition isn't even close, and Ali beat his main rivals; Tyson lost to his.
@iljn1988 Without Rooney, Tyson's training and personal discipline declined. His personal life and training habits were in disarray. Therefore he wasn't in his prime not because of age but based on subpar performance. TheGuGez is right. You are wrong, as usual.
@thepacquiaovsmosley, Tyson isn't the only boxer who had a personal life in disarray. He's had it easy compared to some fighters. And again, if Tyson all of a sudden became so hopeless without Rooney, then that just shows that his dominance must have been more down to Rooney's brilliance as a trainer than Tyson's as a fighter. Loads of other fighters have switched trainers, I bet you don't give them a free pass though.
@iljn1988 fuking hell tyson never fough at his prime status when he fired rooney , yes he was in his prime period when he fought dougles but he wasnt enywhere near his prime in terms of fighting skills. all of other tysons trainer never knew the peek a boo style which was so crucial to tyson as fighter, no other man on earth could of improved tyson as a fighter exept rooney. so stfu
@TheGuGeZ, and like I keep saying; if Tyson was so hopeless all of a sudden when Rooney was sacked, doesn't that merely suggest that his dominance was down to Rooney's brilliance as a trainer, rather than Tyson's as a fighter? Tyson lost every close fight he was in, performed miserably against fellow greats anywhere near their prime and avoided certain fights, too. This "prime" bullshit is just a pathetic excuse for all those things, which some casual boxing fans STILL buy in to.
Even if this 'prime' thing were true, then Tyson's prime was so long ago that Lewis was still an amateur and Holyfield still a cruiserweight and both men would have been mental to have dived in the ring against Tyson.
Tyson himself would not have fought a cruiserweight or an amateur either. The whole thing is people making excuses.
@TheGuGeZ he is the greatest ever.and the way he dealt with that adversity shows it.yeah dundee intervened to buy some time.thats his corner!ALI would have survived it in all likelyhood.just look at the first liston fight.he fought a whole round and a half blinded by liston's cheating!you see ali was unbeatable.through adversity or easy dominance.tyson's prime was filled with has beens and bums.tyson would never survive through a ali career.
@DetroitSuperman23 I don't think he'd do "fine" as he lost to Joe Frazier, who's style was not near as dangerous as Tyson's. But I tend to agree know that Ali would win, I posted that comment ages ago pal.
@ManInControI I agree even an old George would have beaten him, easier than Ali would have done it anyway. Remember he lost to Frazier and Tyson was quicker and stronger than Joe. Ali was also on the canvas from lesser punchers than Tyson - e.g. Doug Jones, Sonny Banks, Joe Frazier e.c.t.
Well Tyson could probably be a great boxing trainer. His knowledge of boxing must be through the roof. Regardless what ppl think of him he's a Hall of Famer in my book.
this is one of the classiest interviews ever. never really was a Tyson fan, but this public display made us all aware that he does have a kind heart and always had a soft spot for lennox. tyson even gained victory in defeat - he defeated his pride!
@TheSuperEntertainer the media didnt do it.all the media did was show up at the press conferences and hear tyson say 'ill fuckin rape you bitch! ill eat ur children!' not to mention his ear biting or that time he went to jail for rape.everyone blames the media for everything lol tyson has an angry side and hes shown it to the world.dont get mad at the media for exposing a FAMOUS person.of course he has gentle moments and, right here, its being exposed by the MEDIA.
@Midnightx77 That was because he was not mentally right at the time. When he fired his long-time boxing trainer, Kevin Rooney, hired Don King, THEN he lost discipline && direction in his life...so it really isn't all his fault...it was the people he was AROUND...and the media did'nt help labeling him as some bloodthrirsty lunatic...this man had a really ROUGH personal life...
@TheSuperEntertainer well he was a lunatic though lol ive seen his interviews where he just seems lost, was angry at everyone etc. but he deserved to be labeled as a looney cause at that time he was a mess.these days he seems to be seen as a more mature person so he deserves to be labeled that way.the medias perception of tyson ,to me,has been accurate.they used what he gave them.if you acted like a nutjob then thats how you were perceived.but tyson seems like a great guy these days.it shows
@Midnightx77 Well I don't believe he should be labeled as a looney. This guy was just easily influenced by the wrong people who then influenced him to do marijuana cocaine and other drugs. And plus the personal issues in his life amplified his behavior and the result of this is the bad desicions this guy made outside and inside of the boxing ring. I believe that the media only percieved the NEGATIVE side of this man. They try to say he was dumb but in actuality he really is very intelligent...
@TheSuperEntertainer self control.every person needs that.you cant just blame other people.like if i muder someone and cut them up i cant be like 'well i been hanging arouund serial killers all week' lol if mike tyson smoked crack then he was a crackhead.period.maybe mike shoulda let more positive people influence him.mike WAS a complete asshole several years ago and thats his fault.mike is currently a mellowed out easy to talk to guy these days and that is also his fault.
ima holyfield fan, and holyfield throws fuckin elbows. mike said the truth, those fighters fought dirty and he went over board..i have a bad habit of that that too
Regardless of what anyone says about Mike Tyson, he was the greatest fighter in his prime. He's second only to Muhammad Ali. They are both the greatest of all time in their own era.
lewis and tyson are almost the same age, lewis wasnt even in contention, when tyson was in his prime, hungry and focused, the tyson lenox fought was but a shadow of his former self, lewis is a good boxer, but despite him beating tyson, put into context,i would say tyson was by far the better, but the history books will tell you otherwise !!!!
@jenz7cherub Just like they will say about kevin McBride and Danny Williams.....If we look at it in the W and L sense, then Terry Downes is a better boxer than Sugar Ray Robinson!
Safe to say that people will use their common sense when judging Tyson and Lennox Lewis!
The richest fight in boxing history, between world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson, was today put in jeopardy when it was alleged that the controversial American had tested positive for marijuana.
But Tyson now faces a new ban from boxing in the desert metropolis after it was revealed that he failed a drugs test in the wake of his last bout, a two-round victory over Poland's Andrew Golota
31.03 - How is Tyson these days? How is his condition? Although nobody knows for sure, with the exception of Mike and his camp, which been saying that that Tyson is training hard and is in great condition. Recently Tyson has been spotted by the National Enquirer, partying with a hippie crowd in Maui.n the photos Tyson is seen smoking something, what appears to be marijuana, which was passed onto him by a bunch of kids
really nice interview. deep down underneath all that exterior tyson is a deeply pained man, you can see it in his eyes. he's actually pretty eloquent and smart too. class act right here.
@bobsinno tyson trained well for his fight against lewis. yea he was past his best... but so was lewis. lewis was just tactically too good. he knew what he was doing. tyson couldn't get inside because of the jab... and lewis' right hands were too quick and coming from difficult angles.
@oldirrtydoogz The pipe that he was smoking from was made from a hollowed-out papaya stem and a seashell. After taking a few hits, Tyson laid on the ground and was laughing with a bunch of kids who gathered around him. Tyson looks out of shape and not even close to being ready to fight Lewis. If this is Tyson’s way of training than, he has got a big problem to face when June 8th comes, when he will fight Lewis.
@oldirrtydoogzTyson reflected on being a former drug addict and his life living in Las Vegas. He says he would start his days by going to a club at 2 o'clock a.m.
"I'd be sitting down and drinking and doing cocaine, talking to girls, doing anything. Everything," said Tyson. "Then I make it home and I'm tripping out at home."

the man was great in his time and he showed alot of dignity here after he was beat by lewis !! i dont think he could have beaten lewis back in the late 80's and not that i am taking anything away from him ! its just styles make fights and lewis was just to big and to strong for mike ! respect mike tyson xxxx
Lennox and those other boxers fought a Mike Tyson who was out of shape and far far from his prime!
How can you be proud or consider to beat a out of shape and far from his prime Mike Tyson to be a good win?
If I was a pro fighter and then beat a former champion who was no longer a good fighter and who was far far frome his prime, I would never ever be proud of that.
In Mikes prime with correct peoples around him such as Steve Lott and, Kevin Rooney and Bill Cayton, Mike would destroyeverybody
Mike Tyson in his prime was simply unbeatable,it's so obvious one would need help to misunderstand it. Skill,Speed and Power combines made him a must-watch.
Those who understand boxing would agree that he was past his prime facing Evander and Lewis. He's the greatest, period!!
@segadavid1 yeah he was past his prime facing evander .. but what was evander ? evander was wayy past it too ... you gotta learn some things about the boxing game .. im not bashing you but tyson was good but he was never great .. you cant be great and have a 91 second prime ... hes not a top 10 HW of all time .. he couldnt face adversity ..and when he did he failed to douglas , holyfield and lewis .. , Ali was the greatest of all time and proved it time and time again .. PRIME ALI >>> PRIME MIKE
unknown damn i guess holmes bruno mitch green andbonecrusher smith andruddock count as unknown im just gotta stop reading this crap he makes my head hurts to seesuch ignorance on display

JoeCalzagheTheCoward 1 month ago
@JoeCalzagheTheCoward Seriously, when the opportunity for Lennox to fight Tyson in his prime ever arise?
Tyson peaked early (20s) whereas Lewis peaked later (30s) so the offer to fight Tyson wouldn't have existed because he wasn't a marquee name yet. You're calling someone a coward for turning something no one offered him in the first place. Why not rag on Foreman for not fighting Frazier in '70 or Ali for not fighting Patterson in '61 while you're at it? Yeesssshhhh.
atl236136 1 month ago
@atl236136 Sponge cake chin hid from everybody in their prime, he knew what would happen to him
JoeCalzagheTheCoward 1 month ago
@JoeCalzagheTheCoward Again, no evidence. Any evidence of someone offering him a fight in their prime that he turned down?
Still gonna call out Foreman for avoiding Frazer in 1970 or Ali for not fighting Patterson in 1961? Cause seriously dude, that shit makes about as much sense.
atl236136 1 month ago

I mean some others who said that Tyson on his prime won only tomatos, bums and not good boxers
danceswithwolvesful 1 year ago
@Marz916 Also i'm not so sure if Holifield would have beaten him at any moment
danceswithwolvesful 1 year ago
@danceswithwolvesful Holyfield did not fight the real Tyson, but Tyson did not fight the real Holyfield. Holyfield was never the same after the first Bowe fight, after that rough battle, he would fight and throw combinations in spurts. Tyson on the other hand was past his better days, but he was closer to what he once was then Holyfield. Tyson finished off title holders Seldon and Frank Bruno again quicker then he did the first time. Holyfield was coming back from a knock out loss to Bowe.
Marz916 1 year ago
@Marz916 I agree with you when you write Holyfield was coming back from a knock out loss to Bowe. Holyfield had more heart than Tyson. After Spinks fight Tyson finished. He wasn't the same boxer. So let it put in this way. Tyson was better boxer, but Holyfield was better warrior.
danceswithwolvesful 1 year ago
@danceswithwolvesful Well, Tyson did look great against Spinks, but Spinks was coming back from knee surgery, and hadn't fought for a year, but I'm not saying Spinks would have ever beaten him, I'm just saying, plus Spinks was a career Light-Heavyweight. I wouldn't say Tyson was a better boxer, since when did he ever move around and use his jab, faster hands and harder puncher yes, but could not fight going back wards.
Marz916 1 year ago
@Marz916 Well, you have your opinion and i have mine. At least we can chat each other ciivilized something very difficult here. Sure Spinks had problem and he came from Light - Heavyweight, but that doesn't mean that he wasn't very good boxer. And Holyfield came from crouzweight, and he is a legend. Tyson had gread fast punching power and technique to start and for this reason always had a big advantage over his opponent. Holyfield had all this but not on to start. And i will always say that
danceswithwolvesful 1 year ago
@Marz916 Spinks fight is the last fight who we'll see Tyson at his best, because after this he fired out Kevin Rooney the only trainer who known how to train him, because the other trainer Atlas had fired out from Cus. In Bruno first fight he won but he wasn't good. This fight is the first figth who we will see Tysons legs moved back from punches on first round and we all know waht happened after two fights.
danceswithwolvesful 1 year ago
@Marz916 Hey guys it's nothing more sobering than a good butt whipping!! Tyson got one...he was not a better boxer than Holyfield never really had a jab an his best defense was his offense...Holyfield beat him then and would have in his prime in Mikes prime he fought almost every 3wks!!! Tyson was a great fighter!!! Not a great boxer!!

as much as people don't like him, hate him, underrate him (lol that rhymes). mike tyson is one of the ALL time greats, and without over rating him not many, if not any, of the greatest boxers of all times would have been able to stand up to tyson in his prime - even ali
MrBumboclart 1 year ago 54
@MrBumboclart
Only after the supposed washed up Holy, pummeled Mike , did the excuses come, in effect, discrediting Holy.
playmayker88 1 year ago
@MrBumboclart you're crazzzzy.you're forgetting about ali's prime.no one could even touch him before his 3 1/2 year layoff.liston(rip) had to douse his gloves with a burning ointment to slow ali down.when ali was far past his prime,he beat a prime foreman.tyson was scared to even fight an old foreman.just google; "why tyson foreman never happened."ali was never ko'd!yet he faced punchers with more power than tyson.get your facts straight.research ali's prime and his opponents.
saladooq 1 year ago
@saladooq henry cooper droped ali when he was at his best or in his prime period. so get ur facks right kid
TheGuGeZ 1 year ago
@TheGuGeZ so what henry dropped him.no kidding.ali whipped that ass in the round he predicted anyway.ali was unbeatable!when cooper dropped ali,it showed ali as a warrior getting up and beating the fight!name one fight tyson ever been put down and got up to win.let alone even get up and finish the fight!tyson never took adversity well.ALI will always be the greatest!
saladooq 1 year ago
@saladooq but u claim ali was untouchable in his prime, which he wasnt. in ali's prime he got dropped, in tysons prime he never got dropped,(tysons prime ended after the spinks fight cuz he fired kevin rooney) copper showed that ali could be hit and hurt, he was out, but they had to cut his glove to give him more time to recover, that realy sounds like the greatest to me.
TheGuGeZ 1 year ago
@TheGuGeZ, Tyson WAS prime when Douglas beat him. I'm sorry, I don't care who you are, a professional athlete isn't over the hill at 23. If his 'prime' ended when Rooney was sacked, then that merely shows that Rooney was a wonderful trainer and that Tyson wasn't a great fighter, as being without Rooney suddenly meant his prime ended. Look at who Ali beat, and compare that to Tyson. Tyson's opposition isn't even close, and Ali beat his main rivals; Tyson lost to his.
iljn1988 1 year ago
@iljn1988 Without Rooney, Tyson's training and personal discipline declined. His personal life and training habits were in disarray. Therefore he wasn't in his prime not because of age but based on subpar performance. TheGuGez is right. You are wrong, as usual.
thepacquiaovsmosley 1 year ago
@thepacquiaovsmosley, Tyson isn't the only boxer who had a personal life in disarray. He's had it easy compared to some fighters. And again, if Tyson all of a sudden became so hopeless without Rooney, then that just shows that his dominance must have been more down to Rooney's brilliance as a trainer than Tyson's as a fighter. Loads of other fighters have switched trainers, I bet you don't give them a free pass though.
iljn1988 1 year ago
@iljn1988 fuking hell tyson never fough at his prime status when he fired rooney , yes he was in his prime period when he fought dougles but he wasnt enywhere near his prime in terms of fighting skills. all of other tysons trainer never knew the peek a boo style which was so crucial to tyson as fighter, no other man on earth could of improved tyson as a fighter exept rooney. so stfu
TheGuGeZ 1 year ago
@TheGuGeZ, and like I keep saying; if Tyson was so hopeless all of a sudden when Rooney was sacked, doesn't that merely suggest that his dominance was down to Rooney's brilliance as a trainer, rather than Tyson's as a fighter? Tyson lost every close fight he was in, performed miserably against fellow greats anywhere near their prime and avoided certain fights, too. This "prime" bullshit is just a pathetic excuse for all those things, which some casual boxing fans STILL buy in to.
iljn1988 1 year ago
@iljn1988
BruceinFalkirk 11 months ago

MrBumboclart 7 months ago
@MrBumboclart Ali would have just played with tyson...foreman would have knocked him out inside of two rounds
ManInControI 6 months ago
@ManInControI I agree even an old George would have beaten him, easier than Ali would have done it anyway. Remember he lost to Frazier and Tyson was quicker and stronger than Joe. Ali was also on the canvas from lesser punchers than Tyson - e.g. Doug Jones, Sonny Banks, Joe Frazier e.c.t.

Midnightx77 1 year ago
@Midnightx77 That was because he was not mentally right at the time. When he fired his long-time boxing trainer, Kevin Rooney, hired Don King, THEN he lost discipline && direction in his life...so it really isn't all his fault...it was the people he was AROUND...and the media did'nt help labeling him as some bloodthrirsty lunatic...this man had a really ROUGH personal life...
TheSuperEntertainer 1 year ago
@TheSuperEntertainer well he was a lunatic though lol ive seen his interviews where he just seems lost, was angry at everyone etc. but he deserved to be labeled as a looney cause at that time he was a mess.these days he seems to be seen as a more mature person so he deserves to be labeled that way.the medias perception of tyson ,to me,has been accurate.they used what he gave them.if you acted like a nutjob then thats how you were perceived.but tyson seems like a great guy these days.it shows
Midnightx77 1 year ago
@Midnightx77 Well I don't believe he should be labeled as a looney. This guy was just easily influenced by the wrong people who then influenced him to do marijuana cocaine and other drugs. And plus the personal issues in his life amplified his behavior and the result of this is the bad desicions this guy made outside and inside of the boxing ring. I believe that the media only percieved the NEGATIVE side of this man. They try to say he was dumb but in actuality he really is very intelligent...
TheSuperEntertainer 1 year ago

Mike Tyson wasn't high on Kentucky bluegrass Friday night. He hadn't smoked any Panama Red either.
At least that's what trainer Freddie Roach believes.
