  • ur hot lol

  • i fucking love love ur name

  • Nice. Glad I stumbled on this video. I'm a seasoned Linux user but keeping track of good software is always a bit of a challenge given the bazaar nature of Linux :) Thanks for the review!

  • redhead + linux = °ç°

    anyway great program lol

  • still unstable, i shall give it a wiz though :)

  • It would be much better if Kazam would record the audio.

  • Nixie - Here is an Update for you :-)

For the one having issues installing it on the New versions of Ubuntu 11.10 +

    Kazam Screencaster Installation

Under Ubuntu 11.10 or any later version, run the follwoing commands:

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bigwhale/kazam-oneric

    sudo apt-get update

    sudo apt-get install kazam

    That's it! See ya!

  • @MrLinuxdoctor You should mention that it's really oneric and not oneiric in the first command

  • Wow! Nice Job :-) Thanks for the Demo and info Happy New Year to ya also :-)

    Got to love Linux

  • How can I record audio feeding through the sound card instead of the mic? Is this possible with Kazam?

  • Thanks for sharing this...was looking for a replacement for Tibesti.

  • Thanks for dong this video. Great job! I just had to search around a little to find how to download and install since you didn't post details. Looks like you can use terminal for download and install. Here's the commands incase anyone is searching.

    terminal commands:

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:and471/kazam-daily-builds

    sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get upgrade #required for Maverick

    sudo apt-get install kazam

  • @twinbytesinc Thanks for that code!! Works fine in Ubuntu 11.04. Question: will this same code work for Ubuntu 11.10?

  • Hi Nixie - I tried to install Kazam, added the PPA as instructed on launchpad, but apt-get was getting 404 errors. Does this software still exist?

  • were do i download it?

  • PINGAS!

  • Just thinking, the other day, about the future of Linux and programs which currently really stink (for Linux). RecordMyDesktop was the first such program that came to mind. For my money, it's the kind of thing that fuels the flames of Linux as a "hobbyists" play pen. It's really pretty awful, compared to something like Camtasia on Windows. This looks interesting - nice video and thanks for the info.

  • Hey Nixie, many thanks for the simple/informative review on this app :) really enjoy application reviews, and now I have a new tool to make tutorials with :D *Beware competition* mooohahaha ha not really :) just needed something like this to make Install tutorials for my friends with a personal touch.

  • i love the fact that you said "epic"

  • Kazam looks pretty cool but it is not working well on my fedora 15 i really a ubuntu "debian" linux user but i really like fedora 15 i am quite impress with it, but the sad thing is gnome 3 is awesome right i love it but i can't get to work i finally got it to load up before i couldn't even got it to load up but i found a page where some things i needed to do in terminal so i corrected that now the app loads up now when i record something well no luck

  • nobody gives a shit what you are or what you like.. Comment sections aren't an outlet where you can make up for your lack of friends because nobody cares, we are here to comment on the video, nothing more.

  • hmmmmmmmmmmmm bola bola.. haha

  • What, no download link? >_<

  • I absolutely LOVE that background, ...PLEASE can I have it?

  • Wow there is a camtasia commercial on this video hahahaha

  • She has beautiful skin... yumyummm löl

  • u forgot link D:

  • okay woman now where can i haz this kazam from?

  • @theJojan Thanks for the tip.

  • im searching for an app for openSuSE 11.3/kde4, anyone, anything? thx in advance.

  • thank will try btw love your video's nice easy and you don't leave anything out

  • Thank You Nixie, Beautiful!

  • your cute... lol...and thanks for the tutorial :]

  • I was using xvidcap but i tried this and it works great! TY

  • Nice video. Just installed Kazam on my stone age notebook with incredible 512mb of ram and it worked quite well, just a little slower than it should. I´m gonna try on my desktop now. Anyway, nice tip. Thanks!

  • bite my nippkes... it feels amazing!

  • thnk u!!!

    Girl U KICK ASS! ;)

  • Kazam is really great but how can I record sound from a game? I tried it with World of Warcraft but it doesn't work.

  • @oldominion82 (if you have Pulse installed) while recording with Kazam, open Pulse, go to recording, and set it to record monitor of internal audio.

  • Im on ubuntu 10.04, i was using gtk-record my desktop, but kazam is great(im going to keep it). One thing that i like is that records on matroska MKV format wich is great for quality and compression, and opensource of course. Cheers.

  • Nooo : '( ... I was not ready to enter the competition

  • can you have kazam in other Linux distributions ?

  • A portable version of Kazam is available at portablelinuxapps . orgGreat Vids.

  • Very nice I did not know about kazam :)

  • Thanks for the Tip... I'm an IT guy using linux where the users use windows, now I'm going to record my screen to answer some how to questions I get asked all the time about windows.

  • When I have dual monitors I cannot watch YouTube videos in full screen. The background turns black but the video stays the same size. What should I do, only use one monitor?

  • @theJojan

    or this:

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:and471/kazam-daily-builds

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install kazam

  • You've had that desktop wallpaper a long time. Just sayin..... Thanks for the instruction. Luv you Nix!

  • ffmpeg -f xgrab what else do u need ?

  • Thank you very much Nixie! I'll be looking forward to see another wonderful video. Great job....you're a natural.

  • good stuff.

  • @theJoja I tried this but i got this.

The following packages have unmet dependencies: kazam: Depends: libavcodec-extra-52 but it is not going to be installed

    E: Broken packages

  • okay so my video reply (once you approve it lol) has nothing to do with kazam -- but: it is my original made with kdenlive featuring YOU video with an added fair use disclaimer to empower people because there are lots of unfair dmca takedowns and stuff so i just wanted to do a little power to the people nixie style sort of thing. haven't heard from u in awhile hope u been well. sincerely, dave - xpresitnetwork - pondscape - bbsers and gah i have too many channels! rofl!

  • kdenlive, thanks for the recommendation. what a relief, I've been looking for a good video editor for the past week and this is what I wanted. Nixie saves the day.

  • fap fap fap

  • Thx for a nice Scr33n capture tool. Iil give it a go on OpenSuse 11.3 asap :)

  • Thanks Nixie! You do rock, you know!!

  • You rule! :-)

  • Kazam is just a "nice" graphical frontend to ffmpeg.

    "recordmydesktop" is way better.

  • @nixiedoeslinux nice subtle reference to monty python there :P

  • I have a good one, camcorder on a tripod , works well and never failed =)

Even installation of Linux or BIOS is possible to record

  • starting a new tech repair and tutorial channel as well as hacks and mods come subscribe and send us some comments

  • Omg... I hate .mkv ATI cards can't handle that video format.. Ugh can this record in anything else? Like .avi?

  • all your base are belong to us

  • a stupid question: What is the tool you used for editing the video? Can you zoom and pan while recording (needed for capturing commands typing)?

  • @saadli I just realized that zoom and pan can be done with compiz. So no need for this feature on Kazam.

    thanks!

  • @saadli she is using kdenlive and i think it ROCKS just like NIXIE!!!!!

  • lmao tracts of land...way too awesome!

  • OMG it recorded a game at good fps!

  • This is awesome :)) Does it mean more linux videos? :))

  • Yes! I've been wondering whether there was a Linux equivalent of Fraps.

  • Blood Bowl. You play Blood Bowl on linux. How? Do you use Wine?

    Thanks!

  • why don't you have a mac? :) i had ubuntu on my pc's before, but now i prefer win7 and mac os x. mac os x is the best, because of the hq applications and security.

  • @yamahaespen nixie is the open source godess mac and 7 suck ass duh!!!!!!!!

  • OMG YES!!!!!! thankyou

  • this is COOL!

  • i love you :)

  • @mihaiviteazu5 i like turtles

  • again a great video of you thanks for it!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you, nixie. Didn't know about this tool.

  • She's beautiful, she's rich, she's got HUGE... Tracts of land!

  • thnx! :D

  • Huge tracts of land ;)

  • KaZaM is ok. But nothing is better than plain old Ffmpeg in the terminal. No need to rely on a frontend which may have bugs like gtkrecordmydesktop and the rest of them

  • Curious why don't you have animated Desktop wall paper ? and good to see you back on the Tube again.

  • just run linux in a virtual machine and use the tools for your native OS

  • you are sexy!!! no disrespect! =D

  • RecordMyDesktop wasn't really what I was looking for, maybe this will change everything. Although I'd like to find a desktop screen recorder for Linux pretty much like CamStudio for Windows. Thanks for the review though, I'm definitely giving this a shot!

  • Thanks for the educational tutorial. I have been looking for a good video editor for Ubuntu.

  • great to see you doing again linux videos :)

  • I have been looking for something like this. Thanks!

  • Is there an opition to record just one window like browser or a terminal?

  • Thumbs up for the Monty Python reference.

  • screen capturing a screen capture program :) recurse?

  • can i zoom with kazam?

  • i love the way you say GUI! =]

  • Kazam is actually a Python GTK GUI for ffmpeg. It works really nice though, and being that it's Python should be easy to modify.

KDEnlive is an awesome video editing software. :D

  • Wow, this actually looks better than Camtasia for Windows 7. Can't wait to try it out!

  • @talldude123 Hey there........im not flamin :P just sayin camtasia isnt just for windows 7 its also available for mac....and trust me.....ITS BETTER than camtasia :P much better I think its because takes less of your memory that is h so much precious :) You can actually record games at a decent FPS :)

  • @blackpheonix200 I use real computers, not Mac's.

  • @talldude123 Real computers? Can you see what youe writing? Jeez man dont hate the macs...... Hate the price of them yes but macs are amazing....not what people say they are but they are really great machines..... :) Love you :P

  • @blackpheonix200 I don't like Mac's because of the people that use them. "Ooh, I can run Windows on a Mac". Big deal? Pay $1200 for a dual core Mac with a screen or pay $700 for a dual core PC with a screen. Also you can install almost anything on a PC.

  • @talldude123 Okay that much better :P Yeah now I see what you mean :) For 700 USD you can build a neat computer true that for me its pounds :) Thanks

  • @blackpheonix200 - not only is this wrong, but it is ot.

Macs are junk made to sell people more junk. Whenever I hear the old - "...Oh yes they admit it won't work, but they won't fix it." - I hear

"...come on sucker - just buy another one." Not a hater - just sick of the macfans parroting the BS. This is a Linux vid. I promise to never post on a mac vid.

  • Hi Nixie, i hope your find of "Kazam" will end my search for THE SCREENCASTRECORDER also.

I will give it a try.

    thx

  • Pingus.

  • I allways use XVidCap, nice program, although it seems that the program doesn't like my fast movements. The nicest thing about it is the fact that I can make a custom record rectangle.. I really like that. I will try Kazam out because of the direct youtube support. But I'm wondering how often you'd upload a vid without dragging it true kdenlive..

  • nixie, you still using the same wallpaper!

i never found it, can u give me a link to download it?

    plz

  • i want to see her naked =D

  • @fighterpiolt1992 GAWD why do you even suggest such things here? she has a brain! we don't make strippers out of girls with brains! -SMACK-

  • Good stuff!

  • gosh, if i got one of those laptops i could stop being limited to only the small 30gb of space i get when i install Ubuntu under Windows.

  • NIXXXIIIEEEEE u need to make a tutorial on how to remove the ubuntu option from the dual boot once u uninstall it, =( i had 10.4 n 10.10 n i have my windows option n 2 ubuntu options .... no bueno

  • 3:16 orgams

  • Great video Nixie, and I love your t-shirt

  • try capturefox. It's a mozilla add on

  • Goo Nixie !!

  • Hehehe! It's a Monty Python T-shirt :D

  • I have a single core 64 bit processor. Slow by todays standards. GTKrecordmydesktop eats up my CPU and slows everything down to an almost unusable state of clunkiniess. Is Kazam a bit easier on the processor?

  • kazam is indexed at alternativeto-dot-net, awesome! :)

  • also, if you use the bleeding edge Xorg drivers you can improve the performance noticeably. Be careful, it may turn your video card into a toaster like with mine did lol.

  • @omfg4all The important question is: which driver turns my toaster into a video card?

  • @isthattrue yes that is very important question

  • Very applicable to Ubuntu... not finding much on Kazam for any other Distro however :/

  • @nlsthzn yeah, trying to install it on my ArchLinux with KDE just to find out it needs the whole Gnome DE as dependecies...

I won't bloat my system with 200mb+ of depedencies just for a screen recorder =)

  • Huge tracks of land ;-)

  • What ever happened with the laptop that you were giving away? If you get the new chrome OS laptop, I hope you make us a video

  • nice screencasting tool.

  • Comment removed

  • ive still sooooooooo much 2 learn. any1 willing 2 send me a list of commands 4 ubuntu?

  • Good video and Merry Christmas.

  • The only thing i want that kazam doesnt have is recording 2 audio inputs

  • @adomas187 Yes it does have the ability to but it fails for many users. There is a bug that hasnt been fixed yet not sure what the cause is for myself.

Thanks ( didnt mean any harm :P just thought id say what I think :P)

  • 1:30 ok she said pingus....someone do a remix!!! X3

  • (@ZerqTM ok so technicaly the mem was pingas)

  • @adomas187 I say it has 2 main problems... what you mentioned and the fact it doesnt encode on the fly

  • Can this record audio as well?

  • Moar nixielinux.

  • Does it record Audio too or did you have to make a separate Narrative?

  • @c3456789096 Records audio aswell check out my vids ive been using kazam for nost of them apart from my like really old ones :P

  • @blackpheonix200 Thanks.I like showing Others how things are with linux and the whole constant converting videos from GTK was ridiculous. While Ubuntu does crash from time to time I suspect it's my lack of experience in using it.

  • It is good to see another Nixie Linux video!

  • Hey nixie, I'd like to plow those huge tracts of land.

  • Nixie, 2 questions.

    1) is it good at recording openGL games, both fullscreen (like Nexuiz) and in a window (like Tux racer)?

    2) Can it record sound at the same time?

  • @starsiegeplayer Yes to both of these questions

  • its like fraps.... for linux^^

  • Nixie Rules!!!!!!!!!

  • Do you remember the the Open Source Intro Challenge and my Linux Laptop Giveaway? I will be putting up my video announcing the winners tomorrow, thanks for all your support! *hugs*

  • @nixiedoeslinux i think you dont remember ... ;p

  • @nixiedoeslinux im very excited X3

  • @nixiedoeslinux Winners? I thought that there was one laptop...

  • @nixiedoeslinux thanx for the *hugs* I was needing that!!!!!!

still waiting for the news on the laptop

    NIXIE ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
