You forgot to mention that the "sky and earth separation" story is at least as old as the Babylonians, and is alluded to in Genesis. Not to mention that the "big bang" didn't involve the Earth nor sky as they only came to exist about 10 billion years later. Another thing, the verse 51:47 has indeed been retrofitted. The word in question is "lamusi'una", the possesive plural for the verb meaning "enrich/increase". At best, their rendering might be "ours (is the) expansion", not "we are...".
