I saw Rory open for Ted Nugent in 1975. He blew the Nuge off the stage. The only other opening act I saw do this was when Kansas (on the "Masques" tour) in '76 had half the crowd leaving while Peter Frampton was doing his "Comes Alive" stuff. What an awesome 3 piece band!
Brilliant Intro outstanding Guitar playing, Rory one of the most honest natural and straight songwriter and player ever, you can feel that this man loves and lives music
Kids complain they were not around that era.....but I'm 53, and I heard of Rory, but I never got round to seeing him live, or buying his music. There was so much great music around that era.
Rory was certainly one of the best guitarists live, of that era...or any other.
why cant i stop listening to RG? oh wait maybe because to me he was the absolute best blues/rock musician EVER - period - case closed! Marriott & Gallagher; hands off. None will ever touch these guys. No disrepect to you Hendrix, Clapton or whoever else fans but I'll keep Rory forever! I miss this guy - why can't musicians be real now instead of hangin w/vapid starletts, tryin to be actors or preaching some agenda. I miss REAL ROCK musicians! Rock on - Rory & Marriott:: just the best to me!
You can just tell this was one of those gigs where he was "ON" and could do no wrong! On this night they were "The Worlds Greatest Rock Band"! RIP Rory truly one of the all time greatest rock guitar players!
rory was such a cool gentle dude... and an absolute shredder on that '61 strat of his...
sure miss the guy, he kept all the other players "honest" ......and yes he did bring
the paradise in BOSTON down !!!!!
