If you watch the post fight press conference, Dana addresses the same issue you've just raised. He says if he were just a fan of the sport like many of us are, he'd thought the fix was in also. However, The UFC has no control whatsoever on who judges or refs the fights. That is totally in control of the Athletic Commission. They govern and regulate the sport. Not Dana. The Refs don't work for the UFC at all. They are employed by the commission. The commission assignes them to fights. NOT DANA.

MMA should outlaw lower extremity submissions. Does anyone else agree? Is it exciting to watch guys going for knee bars or ankle locks? I dont think it is. Less injuries=more healthy fighters=more fights
That would ruin the sport in my opinion. I love seeing submissions from all over, I enjoy it as much as I enjoy a ko. And not so many injuries come from submissions, you get more from ko's. The UFC hasn't had a death or a serious injury since 15 or 16 years I believe, so they shouldn't change anything in my opinion. But that's just me, anyone is aloud to have an opinion on this matter.

I'm sick of the UFC ref's that was the WORST decision ever!!! I'm not even a Shogun fan but he dominated Machida! Shogun's kicks were making contact time after time. Dana White is starting to make me think he's fixing fights. The UFC by far has the worst ref's in sports. All american boxing judges with no MMA background. Dana White do your job and get real judges who know what the hell is going on in the octagon!!! Unless it's a knockout/submission they're clueless to who's winning the fight!!!

If you watch the post fight press conference, Dana addresses the same issue you've just raised. He says if he were just a fan of the sport like many of us are, he'd thought the fix was in also. However, The UFC has no control whatsoever on who judges or refs the fights. That is totally in control of the Athletic Commission. They govern and regulate the sport. Not Dana. The Refs don't work for the UFC at all. They are employed by the commission. The commission assignes them to fights. NOT DANA.

That wasn't the case Rua's corner said that he had won 1st , 2nd and 3rd round which I AGREE . His game plan was working and thats why he wasn't trying to press hard in 4th and 5th round! And he still won the 5th round. So this not only calls for a bullshit judge but a rematch!

It doesn't matter dude. Decisions are part of the game. You can't always knock people out. If that were the case then why have judges if the only clear way to win a fight is to knock someone out? This fight reminded me of griffing vs rampage. If rampage didn't do enough to keep the belt in that fight, which many thought he did, then Machida shouldn't have kept the belt also. The problem here is the inconsistency on the part of the judges. Machida needs to stop running and actually fight.

no need to watch the fight again. machida was out speed, out strike, and he gas out. his gameplay was out the window. Shogun didnt come in aggressively like he always do, he was patient and he strike machidas leg. if you dont notice, look at his stance, you never see machida being lazy with his stance like that. even machidas face expression gave it away that shoguns kick were hurting him BADLY!! if you notice, machida was counter when he came in to strike shogun. shogun intiate the fight =-)

That would ruin the sport in my opinion. I love seeing submissions from all over, I enjoy it as much as I enjoy a ko. And not so many injuries come from submissions, you get more from ko's. The UFC hasn't had a death or a serious injury since 15 or 16 years I believe, so they shouldn't change anything in my opinion. But that's just me, anyone is aloud to have an opinion on this matter.
