  • Eric is a great man and definitive for Jane's early sound.

Ppl bitch about Starys but it was all written in the same musical structures that NS and Ritual. But since Eric wasn't there, ppl didn't even gave it a chance.

As far as his solo material goes, I find to be weak and predictable... Not even gonna mention the "lyrics"....

  • It's a shame Eric isn't playing with Perry, Dave and Stephen anymore

  • Eric was epic in Jane's.... not so on his own. :(

  • It's funny... I'm through the same process. My history is just like Eric's...

  • The way Eric Avery makes his music and his thoughts about it kind of remind me of myself, only with a LOT more talent. To buy his CD I will have to import it to Sweden myself...

  • Yeah it suck that Eric isn't in Jane's. But come on, they got Duff McKagan of GNR, that's a solid replacement if you ask me. I hope the chemistry is good and I can't wait for their new album :)

  • artist ana there crap ass solo carriers..go back to Janes Addiction an make millions of ppl happy, istead of maken 1 person happy....YOU!!

  • @syksix6 how do I up you more than once.... I don't see the button....

  • Goddamnit, Avery left Jane's again, Can't say I blame him though. He still currently is my favorite bass player.

  • I guess I was generalizing about PFP. The fact is that I only heard a few songs by them, but never listened to their albums. I did like the song about humans as pets (can't remember the name of it) and a few other songs. Once we get used to a particular band's sound, we kind of get stuck on it. Instead I should have recognized that people like Farrell are all about breaking new ground and against the whole idea of falling into a creative rut.

  • I really like the original Jane's Addiction sound, with Avery. Porno for Pyros and the new Jane's Addiction didn't have the same "feel," so I kind of lost interest. But when I hear Eric's solo work, it has a mystical sound that I was picking up in the original Jane's. It's great he followed his intuition and went his own way.

  • I see what you mean but PFP was still amazing. I don't know why Jane's fans don't like PfP. You had perry at his prime (listen to his damn singing on the albums and live during that time)Perry was a complete Badass was a great time!1

  • I totally agree with you. He's got that tribal thing goin which was one of the things that made Jane's what it was.

  • The John Paul Jones of Jane's Addiction! thanks for the vid

  • Love you Eric!! Thank You for the beautiful talent you share <3

  • He was the real talent in Jane's addiction.

  • One of the best musicians ever!!!!

  • he is one the best bass players of all time

  • ....In love w/ this man.And i think his voice is wonderous.

  • It sounds as though Perry needs to take a cue from Eric Avery. Surprisingly, his stuff sounds infinitely better than anything poor Perry has done since 1993 or so. So very sad. O, how I used to love Jane's back in the day.

I don't care for Avery's vocals very much but the music is quite good. Now if only he could help redirect Perry into producing quality music again. That would be amazing.

  • You didn't like Good God's://Urge?

  • all jane's addiction are pompous twats except stephen perkins, i gather. but they made class music before strays!

  • Comment removed

  • is he relate whit the guy fron the office??????you know that comedy series??

  • ya he is actually

  • This is my fav album of the year. Its not even my style of music. Amazing stuff

  • Eric was THE sound of Jane's... listen to Jane's, then Deconstruction, then any neuvo-Jane's and you'll notice the one and MAIN ingredient missing from the last is Eric.

I cannot WAIT to get this disk tomorrow! I didn't even know it was out until today.

  • word.

  • I've heard players say that when they were first starting out, Eric made them realize what exactly the bass was, and how it fit in to the overall scope of things. Frankly, I hear a LOT of Robert Smith in Eric's style, but that's just me.

  • I completely know what you mean. I learned to play bass by playing along with Nothing's Shocking and he does have a very similar sound to the Cure, particularily the Pornography album. Also there's a huge Bauhaus and Joy Division influence in his work I think.

  • Yep, you nailed it; David J. and Joy Division complete the picture.

  • Checkout "These Days" by Joy Division you'll here a big influence there.

  • I got Deconstruction where can you buy Eric's new CD????

  • Man Avery is the shit i hope he can get back with jane's and they can make some awsome james!!!

  • the name of my coach is eric avery .. xD

  • Thanks, Eric. Just rock and don't explain... :-)

  • Cool video thanks.

  • wonderful song

  • eric avery is one of the greatest musicians on the world....he's sooooo underrated!!
