people are so naive sometimes, saying ''the science isn't there and its not gonna be there tomorrow either." open your damn eyes, if it wasn't then why are states legalizing it for medical purposes? weed should be legalized, and that's not to say we should all sit in a circle and smoke pot all day (nothing in excess, everything in moderation) but honestly, if pot isn't legal why should cigarettes be? all those are doing is killing millions of people every year.
I like seeing clean cut people arguing the case for sensible laws, rather than burned out hippies and stereotypical stoners with Bob Marley t-shirts. If the population at large realized how similar the average cannabis user is to any other mainstream American in terms of thought and behavior things might actually change a bit quicker.
I can't believe the question of whether or not a responsible adult should be able to smoke pot has deteriorated into a bunch of bureaucratic bullshit. It sickens me. What an irresponsible waste of time, money, resources and, most importantly, decent people's freedom and well being.

I'd just like to point out the basic fact that alcohol is legal. Alcohol leads to serious health complications if abused and it can be just as easily or more so abused than marijuana. My father was an alcoholic and died of cirrhosis of the liver which is extremely painful to die from. Marijuana use, in excess, can cause chronic bronchitis, but for real? I'd rather have bronchitis for 10 years and then die at age 80 than die in excruciating pain at age 50.
If smoking pot has never killed, why are so many dying in the Mexican drug war, I was raised smoking pot and it led to other drugs, to say it don't, you are a fool ,,plus today all your pot is laced with chemicals and over priced. You may as well be doing Heroin with the chemicals they are putting in pot today. The price is as much as coke or heroin. So it destroys people financially too. I just wanted to say that drug tests are directly used to target those who smoke MJ because it stays in your system for at least a month .... most other schedule one drugs exit to the point of little to no detection within 2 weeks and even days . I was watching a movie n it hit me like a whirlwind... only MJ users are worried about drug tests , with a few exceptions like opium users

The point is that some things should be allowed and some should not and the people in power, and the citizen's of the country should be smart enough and educated and INFORMED enough to know the difference. Meth, for instance has no beneficial attributes and therefore should, and mostly LIKELY will, never be legalized. How can someone like me, not have the choice to use something that tremendously helps me in NUMEROUS ways. I do not leave, so how am I doing something "so illegal" that is looked so down upon when I am safe at home, using it in a medical way, and it be something that so many know very very little about. it's a shame that chronically ill people like myself, who do not drink, are uninsured, need extensive medical help, etc. cannot use a NATURAL non-man made medicine which gives me so much relief and benefits for my illnesses and diseases. i continue to hope that this is something that will be available to me legally one day. I stay home pretty much 24/7 and this is one thing that I stand proud to speak out about.

There is a level of responsibility that we all must use. I also say that your response time is slowed by cough medicine and pain pills but as long as you use care it should be fine. I often hear this argument for driving while high, a lot of people say its "safer", but it still comes down too, If your to high to drive, dont.. the same is said about alcohol, Just be responsible. I wouldn't smoke and drive out of choice because what it the need to. It can effect you, so just don't do it to be safe. It's probably fine, but it does make you nervous that cops will get you lol so might mess up your driving indirectly.

But how? This concern has no foundation in science or real life case study. If some of us smokers are getting high at work, the law obviously doesn't work, it doesn't stop people from doing it, only punishes those who get caught. but more to the point, I have smoked pot for over thirty years and I can say I never get high before I work, I use saws, they can cut me, so I make a responsible decision to not get high at work. It is my right, the law must change for that reason alone.

I really think the matter of legalizing marijuana goes deeper than just the science of it. I think a lot has to do with issues of norms, power, and the overall social and political implications of legalizing the drug. I believe these are key forces fuelling opposition.

when I'm high I can catch an object in my left hand (I'm right handed) without fail if it's throw from across a room, because it slows down perception and lets you react quicker- like how a fly sees things in slow motion so can move quicker. slowing you down speeds you up, if you know what I mean.
On the Up-Side, that same study shows that once the individual stops smoking (a course of over 2 months) the individual begins to regain their sensibilities.

My wife and I quit smoking weed when our kids were born in the early 80's. We were in our mid-20's and didn't want to have weed around our house. (It's called "growing up".)
That said, I don't have a clue why weed should be illegal. If Tequila and Vodka are legal, why in the hell would pot be illegal??! Actually, even drugs like Cocaine should be legal. Any associated crimes should be punished because some people are boneheads but responsible use of ANY drug is nobody's business...

The point is that some things should be allowed and some should not and the people in power, and the citizen's of the country should be smart enough and educated and INFORMED enough to know the difference. Meth, for instance has no beneficial attributes and therefore should, and mostly LIKELY will, never be legalized. Cocaine used to be legal, until it was proven to be horrible substance in which the negatives exceeded positives.

There is a level of responsibility that we all must use. I also say that your response time is slowed by cough medicine and pain pills but as long as you use care it should be fine. I often hear this argument for driving while high, a lot of people say its "safer", but it still comes down too, If your to high to drive, dont.. the same is said about alcohol, Just be responsible. The concern that some people have (Including the legislature) is that Marijuana can inhibit people's ability to fully function, including at work.
For example, I am a Network Engineer and my position requires a fully functional brain. I have to study and master new/current technologies.
Hey, don't get me wrong, I am for passing it. but realistically this becomes a real concern for some people.

But how? This concern has no foundation in science or real life case study. If some of us smokers are getting high at work, the law obviously doesn't work, it doesn't stop people from doing it, only punishes those who get caught. but more to the point, I have smoked pot for over thirty years and I can say I never get high before I work, I use saws, they can cut me, so I make a responsible decision to not get high at work. It is my right, the law must change for that reason alone.

I really think the matter of legalizing marijuana goes deeper than just the science of it. I think a lot has to do with issues of norms, power, and the overall social and political implications of legalizing the drug. I believe these are key forces fuelling opposition.

My wife and I quit smoking weed when our kids were born in the early 80's. We were in our mid-20's and didn't want to have weed around our house. (It's called "growing up".)

I quit when my first son was born for the same reasons, everyone at the welcome home party for my son, held up there beers and congratulated me and my wife. growing up might be the wrong words for what we did. my decision was based on public opinion of pot, which is based on propaganda. Never, because it's impossible to overdose on marijuana. I'm sick of the fuckin' government telling us what we can and can't do when it comes to stuff like this. We should have the right to use cannabis both for recreational and medicinal purposes so as long as we don't harm others. I speak for many Americans when I say that we want our damn freedom back!

cuz you can't OD on weed. all it can cause is brain damage and lung cancer. sure marijuana's three times as hard on your lungs as cigarettes, but i don't know anybody who smokes 3 packs of pot a day, like cigarettes,
