  • Awesome soundtrack

  • The music sounds like golden brown ha

  • I know. Let me point with the end of a short, squat battleaxe. Because that seems pointy. *oh, the UI mistakes they used to make back in the day* Also, the music at 0:59 is "Golden Brown" by the Stranglers? The Amiga version did not sound like that... lol.

  • 0:01-0:43cThe music was dope....i think i just started rapping....yo yo yo yo yo lol

  • oh ok, he does that later on, I should've watched the whole thing lol

Still don't get why he does it to begin with though..!

  • @neuraljam I didn't even remember that I did that. I think I was learning as I went. ;)

  • Why does the player click on every individual square in order to move? IIRC you could click any number of squares away in the same room in order to move

  • Am I the only one who's bumpin' to the song?

  • @XxVarkaxX Song is AMAZING!!

  • I still have this board game after 15 years or so. I play it with my little cousin. Greatest board game ever.

  • Hmmm so much fun with the board game, but I finally find the online version... bit dated :D :D

  • AMAZING SONG

  • I USE MAR BRAUDSARD

    FIRRE OV RATHE!

  • I had this on Amiga around 1993

  • I wonder if this will work on a 64 bit system with windows 7? Maybe Dos Box can do it. Can you buy this still anywhere?

  • Only chapters from the Game System and ROTWL, huh? No KK? Must've slipped their minds...

  • @DragonLord1975 that or KK hadn't been released at the time they were working on the game. Still, would it killed them to have released it as an expansion pack or something? maybe the pc game bombed

  • doesn't hold up to the amiga version...

  • that game sucks so badly idk why you play a game like that when you can be playing like RoM

  • Nothing can withstand the might of... THE SHIELD!

  • adaptacion del golden brown de the stranglers que buena cancion

  • Cool music.

  • Interesting. I owned the board game back in the day. Never knew that they made a PC game of it. Good vid.

  • music is epic even golden brown

  • back in the day this was the best board game ever

  • @LoafofCat Back in the day? Still is :)

  • wow is this game made like in 1985?...........

  • @ulongkoror 1990.

  • Qué tío más inútil. Deja ya de consultar los menús y juega, me pones nervioso.

  • The Amiga version had so much better music - it's the same melodies, but MIDI is no match for the sampled music of the Amgia.

  • Y'know what? C64 owners don't care!

  • Actually they do. If an Amiga soundtrack is reduced to the technical capabalities of another platform it's crap. But when a soundtrack has been specially made for MIDI or the C64's SID chip, then it's awesome. ;)

    Btw: I am a C64 owner. :P

  • Yes, the Amiga version had mod music.

  • Highlander fan i see ....thats cool

  • did they own the copyright to Golden Brown?

  • No idea, but my guess is probably not...

  • @XSC3 See my post from 3 months ago (!) this is from a 17th century tune, so there is no copyright!

  • Golden Brown, as in the music here, is adapted from a 17th century piece of music!!!! You should know by now, nothing is original!!!! :)

  • @HardWarUK ah that makes sense. Didn't know that!

  • @HardWarUK which piece of music?

  • @holygalaga I am afraid I don't know, 7th fugue in C major or some type. The fact I don't know the name devalues my argument, but I have heard the original classical movement. In my defence however, this game came out in 1991, 9 years after Golden Brown by The Stranglers, and yet there is no copyright on the box for "Golden Brown", or "The Stranglers" or the member of the band that was the "writer" of the music. Why would that be if the music is a Stranglers original?!

  • I´m still playing the Amigaversion of this game. It´s great.

  • musics rockin'

  • I used to have this, I'd always get annoyed when people died because they lost their stuff.

What was with the random 'Golden Brown' song being in there. Was that there all the time?

  • Yeah, the game music either plays continuously (see my other videos) or there's no music.

Obviously the board game had no music, unless you turned on your stereo. ;)

  • this is damn awesome the best boardgame ever made, its soo old and the prime father of all role playing games !!the second is starquest the follower i still have the two !!^^

  • Was heroquest before or after D n D?

  • DnD was created in 1974. This came out 15 years later (16 for the N. American version). This is based on the earlier non-American version because it's Morcar instead of Zargon that you fight.

  • Are the maps randomly generated? That would kick ass =D

  • Sadly no, this option is not available. Rather, this game has all the maps taken directly from the basic Hero Quest "Game System" and the first expansion "Return of the Witch Lord" (but no Kellar's Keep), modified, I imagine to fit the parameters of the pc version of course.

  • Good name for your Barbarian, Clancy Brown would be proud

  • Thanks! Don't forget Christophe Lambert and Sean Connery!

  • Great game, sure brings back some very fond memories. I used to play the AMIGA version alot and it wasnt long after that that I got the board game version from my older brother. Sadly there werent that many that were interested in the board-version, but I played with my brother and his friends.

    Anyway, thanks for posting this!

  • Yes! I had seen this game for last time in 1992. This brings memories back. Just play Heroquest at a friend of mine, go to school, watch tv, hanging around. no problems. Shit, 17 years. Time is passing away.

Greetings from Germany (this is why my english is crap.)

  • got this for the zx spectrum and still play it, with no colour.

and it's still better than some 360 games : )

  • i wish that there was a heroquest game for the gbc, gba, or even the ds, that would rock, I never did play the pc game, but there's a fan made game out there, but would love to own this game, thanks for the video, i think i have commented on this before, but i owned the board game back in the day, but i got rid of it, and am proud to say i have owned a second copy of the board game

  • Wow, I've had this game since I was a child, but I never knew there was a video game as well.

  • on amiga this hq is better,so use winuae to emulate it,if any1 like hq try Lords of Chaos its litle bit diffirent but i think You will enjoy it

  • looks awesome!

  • Please anyone can give me clues as to how to make sound work on XP? I use Dos Box emulation with data of the game.

  • TrueAdam, tell me step by step what you're doing, because the sound definitely works in the latest DOSbox, assuming you have a soundblaster compatible card and the game is complete (ie: not some stripped version with files missing).

  • awesome music.

  • I wish I could play HeroQuest. :[ me and my friends love Warhammer.

LOL I love how you named each of em after a Highlander character. FTW!

  • Funny that they stole The Stranglers - Golden brown for the soundtrack

  • Hmm, you're right, that song does bear a striking resemblance... maybe because it's in harpsichord style compared to this midi?

It might have been properly licensed, or not. Good find! It wouldn't be the first time a game has "stolen" a song... look at the arcade "Vanguard" which steals the opening theme from Star Trek the Motion Picture.

  • lol! I was just going to point that out!

  • A Question:Can you save while in the game?

  • Nope, you can only save between quests.

  • Where can you get this game?

  • Ebay has it on CD-ROM from the UK. It's an old game, you can probably find it online easily enough at the usual places.

  • I just found my old board game today. Im going to play with some frinds in a couple of days :)

  • me and some friends played some quests last week and today. we all love it even if its a tad geeky.

  • dont worry about it, i play d&d and sure its nerdy but its fun as, and hero quest looks kick arse

  • i loved this board game, i will play it on pc now

  • We played this board-game, quite a bit, when I was a kid.

  • I notice in this version there doesn't appear to be any restrictions on what gear the Wizard can use... which means he can really be a major threat down the road! Trouble is they take away all your potions at the end of a quest... what did they expire?
