I have been thinkin about gettin a snake now for a long time and im really pumped on gettin a corn snake but i have one problem...Do you need to feed them mice all the time or can you give them other food too? I have no problem giving them mice , Its my mam that will freak :P
yea their diet is pretty much just mice. they're not like garter snakes that can eat worms and things like that. corn snakes can also eat small lizards like anoles if they want to. the mice dont need to be live, you can buy frozen ones at pet stores.
Well really, corn snakes also feed on live or frozen. I use frozen because you can leave them. Live food costs more and the snake could be hurt (clawing, biting, etc).
I don't believe they'll eat crickets or something. But they do eat lizards. Of course..that would probably be worse xD
damn man i feel sad for u, i hope my cute little corn snake lives that long, im 11 well, tommorow im ganna be 12 but still.... i got him on friday, i feakin luv him or her, anyways rlly srry man
If you had it for 18 years then you took really good care of it, and you desrve another no doubt. I have ordered certain species through PetCo before with pretty good luck.
it should be available even if it is only through the internet. I don't know what the rules are on shipping exotics into another country are, but there are plenty of suppliers that you can "google". I have seen other red tails that were really docile. It has more to do with personality than breed perhaps
Also, handle your Boa OFTEN like every day or even every couple of hours, and she will settle down. I enjoy the smaller ones now due to less piss and shit running down my back...cheaper to care for....less liabilities with pet/kids...etc. However, I am all for people who want the larger boa's. (sand boa's only get 2-3 ft...downside is they don't eat well). Corn may be my next snake?? don't know, and good luck
my boa is redtail...and she has to be the bitchiest snake ever lol.
I always let my daughter hold poseidan(that was my cornsnake) and he was very very good with her. but this new girl i have my redtail...has such a terrible attitude. ive held her everyday since i got her. but it dusnt seem to be making a difference lol. but i guess time will tell. She is still a baby only about 8 inches at the moment.. so im hoping she will calm down in the near future lol. Thankyou for your help:)
hahaha mine could bite in ways that I never even saw coming. I had to keep her away from my face at all times. Once she got bigger she actually got worse (no, she wasn't sick or anything; just very unpredictable). My friend's red tail at that size was very nice though?? I have never been struck by any sand boa though, but their problem is that they won't even bite a mouse, and eventually starve to death.
Sorry man, if I saw that thing in my yard it would be cut in half in seconds! Snakes scare the hell out of me and I don't want them anywhere near me or my house!

True that the snake recognises her/him and that the bites barely hurt. However, snakes base their actions on almost 98% instinct. It is not possible for them to know emotions such as "love" "friendship" etc. If she/he is not careful (with feeding handling etc) the snake may bite. She doesn't know anything about cornsnakes/snakes. First of all, Snakes arn't pets. In the other movies of her, you can see that she places a heatrock into the snakes terra. These things aren't good for any kind of animal, cause it can burn them and damage their skin. She had a movie about handeling a cornsnake, and she dropped the snake!

It's not needed, but with spraying ( making the snakes skin wet ) makes him skin better. Spraying the "habitat" is indeed, not good.

The movie about housing. Cornsnakes need a dry terra. And you only need to sprey 2 or 3 times when they change skin. Feeding 1 adult mice a week when your snake is full grown... You have adult snakes(cornsnakes)from round 80 till 150/180 cm. And one of 180 cm really needs some more. the terra for the snake was to small, and harldy contained anything to climb on.
