No it wasn't the same, its much worse nowadays, in relations to gangs and guns. Shootings increased in the 80s and 90's, because of the emergence of yardies, Russian mafia, turkish mafia etc. And borders opening up, i.e. the Berlin wall, Eastern Bloc, so the flow of illegal firearms took place. Yes football hooliganism was bad in the 70's and 80's, but even then, it was confined to football grounds or just outside them, normal cokour wearing fans, wouldn't get invalid, unlucky gangs today

As a Londoner its very simple.

As Blacks moved in, in large numbers with their "Babyfatherism" and MOST "pickneys" NOT even living with their Parents then "Gang welfare" became prominent.

White London "Gangs" rarely bothered "outsiders" but these Black London Gangs adversely affect everyone. As more London areas became "Black" and crime increased, inevitably, then Whites, like me, moved to the Suburbs to DEcrease the chance of being a victim of crime.

London is STILL fantasticbut its better to "use" London by slipping in and out of it from the surrounding relatively "safe" White Counties of Kent/Essex/Surrey/Sussex and Middlesex.

Since I moved in the early 1980's I have hardly seen any crime yet the edge of London is only 1 mile away! PERFECT !
