Another great guitarist who played with Billy was Seattle's Pernell Alexander, who went on to local fame in Dan Bonow's Juggernaut (1967-70). Pernell was a cousin and associate of Jimi Hendrix's in the early Seattle days. Pernell had his own version of Cuci Freedom Man that he called "Hoochie-Cuci Freedom Man," and it was jaw-droppin' good! The drummer, Mel Brown, of course became famous later in his own right, and is currently one of the 'A list' organ drummers in Portland.
I thought I was the only one in the world was hip to billy larkins and the delegates thank God for the internet, I have every albums they ever made this was the first
Pigmy still gives me the chills after all these years, what a tune! Cuchy Frito Man is another Billy Larkin classic I simply can't resist...pure class
I've searched for this before (I still have my broken 45-and try to play it). All I know is that when this came out (I was a H.S. junior) it was "the jam". Our basketball team used this as their into music, as well as "Hole in the Wall". Wow-I'm gonna find that one too!
I just recently heard of Billy Larkin & The Delegates and found out that they have a number of really good records.
Larkin is great at the organ, has a very good Hammond sound, distinctive and a little bit dirty, and the guitarist is also very good. Overall this is a very tigh swinging group with good arrangements.
thanx me change that ...dont think it was on any album just on some compilation cds and on a bluenote lp and keb darge used it on a album ...love this tune ,,big up!! and dance
Pigmy pt 1 was released on the LP Aura 3002 Billy Larkin & The Delegates. Pigmy pt2 can only be found as b-side on the single on Aura. Members were Hank Swarn, guitar, Mel Brown, drums and Billy Larkin, organ

Great jazz groove here... Actually, Pigmy was released in the Spring of 1965. Always wondered if the Delegates made an album with this.
